Destiny 2 PC Beta Thread - Codes are redeemable, preload starts Friday 25th, 10AM PDT

for the Inverted Spire mission it says 1-3 players...how do I choose to play solo?...it always groups me up with 2 other players

You can't in the Beta I don't believe. In the final game you can play through Strikes solo. But it will be really difficult unless you are over leveled

Still in the farm and since everyone left me and this guy managed to have an awesome 1 v 1 soccer match. He made an amazing save then ran it back to win 3-2. We waved and bowed then he left me....forever.

Sucks that fullscreen still isn't fixed (it still only lets me pick up to 1920x1200 there), but hopefully it will be sorted out for the release version.

Are there strict loot tables in Strikes(Is that was the pve content is called?)? Trying to get a feel for how loot progression works in this game. I'm a fan of your WoW type dungeons of repeating places to go after some specific gear.

Played the inverted spire place a few times. Find it kind of weird how open the very beginning is. You can go to the right and there's more groups of enemies but not much else? Pretty enjoyable though. Depending on how loot progression is in the game I might pick it up at launch.

We don't know what loot tables will be like in the final build. There's fixed (tiny) loot pools for each activity right now but your best bet is waiting for console release next week and checking the feedback.

Destiny 1 had something like this. Most Strikes had 1-2 special unique items in their loot pool which had a chance of dropping from a chest. Likewise with Raid and Trials chests - you play every week until you get that one item you were after.

Most strikes have some exclusive gear to that strike, yes. But the rest of the loot is usually random stuff.

I got two "We ran out of medals" tonight in PVP, the MM has to be entirely CBMM because we have absolutely steam rolled 95% of our matches through out the beta. I'm not complaining, heh.

Better Devils is Halo 1 pistol levels of dominance, seriously one of the best feeling guns I've ever used in a FPS, even if it is a bit OP.

Strikes are a type of PvE content, but they're far from the only one. The loot tables for Strikes (and all other activities, really) is far bigger and more varied in the final game than in this beta, where only a couple select items dropped.

Strikes typically begin in a "public" area of a planet; those are shared zones where you'll also be able to see other players doing other stuff (like Patrol, a free-roam mode with missions) while your fireteam begins their mission. In the beta, there's no Patrol on Nessus (or anywhere else), so that's why it's just the three of you in that unusually-big open area.

How do you reach the farm?

I remember that it's a limited event in console beta.

I was referring more to only PC sales...I'm not sure D2 outsells Battlefront 2 on PC...I have a feeling B2 is going to surprise a lot of people with how good it is

I'm expecting BF2 to be down from the original in sales or flat while D2 up. Destiny did somewhere between 20-25 million sales on console alone and Battlefront was somewhere around 15 million last I really looked into it which included PC.

Both will be huge but I really don't think Destiny has much to worry about from Battlefront

any word on if they are planning on extending the beta for another day or 2?

I really wish they would, or at least do something to help make up the lengthy gap between console and PC releases. I'm finding myself wishing I could return to this when more friends are available to see how they feel about it, but the 3 day testing period taking place during the week didn't give them a lot of time to work with.

But, it seems like they are pretty much locked in to their timeframe for the beta.

I'm still a little confused about how much of the full game will be co-op

It sounds like the campaign and strikes are separate things. Strikes are obviously co-op for up to 3 people, but it's not clear how the campaign works. Is it solo only? Can it also be played with 3 people?

Can be played with up to 2 other people but is designed to be solo really.

Campaign - Can be played entirely solo or with a Fireteam of 3 players

Strikes - Can be played solo or a Fireteam of 3 players

Raids - Can be played with a Fireteam of 6 players. Pretty much requires 6 to have a chance of completion

Is there any kind of matchmaking for strikes or raids? Some way to find other people to play them with?

Strikes yes.

Raids in Destiny 2 don't have traditional matchmaking per se. D2 does feature a new system though that allows players needing team for Raids to search and Clans that are open to needing a player can bring the searching player into their team.

Think of of it as matchmaking that isn't automatic. A clan has to agree for you to join them (Still should be very easy to find games)

Done for the night. No more Destiny 2 till Oct 24 for me. Had a lot of fun with the beta. Glad they had a different map in Control, from the last beta. This one actually allows for 1v1 gun fights. Even tho it was only 1 map, I never got bored of the PvP. The wait is going to be brutal.

Judging from my 3-times experience in the Strike mission, it seems that the key in beating the boss is not DPS, but survivability. As long as the the can stay alive, the boss will go down sooner or later. I notice that when people were too aggressive we usually get wiped.

Since when were strikes soloable?

Unless I'm remembering wrong they always were. You just got to the planet map and select whatever Strike you want instead of going into matchmaking.

In the 500 hours I played Destiny I pretty much was always in matchmaking so I might be remembering wrong

I know you can solo Nighfall Strikes for sure

In Destiny, you usually got matched up with randoms if you didn't jump into a strike with a team. But sometimes people drop out or you end up matching up with no one. Nightfall Strikes had no matchmaking. I solo'd normal and Nightfall strikes before, though the latter was tougher.

Was fun, if a bit sparse.

Do I just keep doing strikes until I get better weapons, or is there a way to just make Better Devil, etc?
The loot tables are next to non-existent in this beta.

ive played for 1000 hours but my memory tends to be fuzzy. Not selecting the playlist and just going into a strike from the directory, I don’t remember it NOT ever matchmaking

yeah I know of dropouts but I don’t remember MM never occurring except for nightfalls

This Beta doesn't feature hardly any of the MMO progression from the actual game. The Loot table is tiny and there isn't much in terms of really powerful guns. This Beta is really just a stress test for their systems and for players to get a feel for the mechanics. Unfortunately unlike the D1 Beta it doesn't give a feel for what the actual game progression and leveling systems feel like

I hope pvp matchmaking gets speedier for launch. But I also don't really remember it being terribly fast when I played the first game around TTK. What's D1's pvp matchmaking like these days?

the more I play this, the more I like it...the shooting and overall gameplay just feels solid...I think I'm in if I can snag a code for relatively cheap (~$25)...the lack of major AAA game releases over the past few months also plays a role

Looks like I've got a few hours left to try the beta.. haven't had power the past few days because of the damn hurricane. Let's see what I can still get out of it.

Oh man, I forgot you can open up item details to select different traits. Been too long since I played the first game, all my play time with this has been with the default perks so far lol.

Does the beta end early tomorrow, or does it run for most of the day?

edit: woops nm, OP has it. Dang :[

Nightfall strike solo = doable

Normal strike solo = no...

Raid = only with your friends

Campaign = solo or coop

I'm gonna be on PS4 and decided to try it on PC... now I dont even want to ps4 it anymore but since the clan is on PS4, I guess that's where i'm at anyway :D

Crazy pretty and responsive.
