Looking for long weekend movie recommendations, gonna finally test out Moviepass now that I'm back on the service. I've whittled the list down to the following; looking to probably see two:

The Big Sick
Logan Lucky
Wind River
Good Time

and in the ehhh, maybe pile: Girl's Trip, Atomic Blonde

The GF has zeroed in on Good Time, and I'm leaning towards Wind River. Some interest in The Big Sick and mild interest on Logan Lucky. Thoughts welcome and appreciated!

I've never heard of those 3 movies, so I have no idea if that would help or not. I haven't been able to afford movies for a long time until I got the 10$ movie pass so I haven't paid attention to many.

It sounds like you already know Kingsman is coming this month, so why would you need it on this list?



Wind River is the only one on your list I've seen so far but it's good and worth watching. If you're only seeing one other, I'd say choose between Logan Lucky and The Big Sick.

I actually didn't until I read someone else's posts. I missed it in the comprehensive list.

Only saw Wind River and Atomic Blonde, and I'd give a strong recommendation to Wind River. Posted this in that movie's thread


Atomic Blonde had style and some great action, but it was too convoluted for its own good, and just came across as a poorly paced and needlessly complicated story anchored by one very strong action scene and Theron's performance

The Big Sick is brilliant, don't miss out. Especially with a partner.

Thanks, all! I really liked Sicario and Hell or High Water, so I was leaning towards Wind River. The love for The Big Sick is hard to pass up, though, and I know it's a movie the GF wouldn't see without my prodding. She's set on Good Time so not much wiggle-room on choice #2, but I think some of this will still be around in a week or so if we're still inclined. Thanks again!

Glad to see Kingsman didn't make the cut. The first is well paced and flashy, but it's just another entry in the list of properties Mark Millar wishes were "Fight Club" (see: Wanted; Kick-Ass)

I would like to know what in particular was "less than stellar" re: "It". Horror hits people differently and a property as revered as "It" comes with expectations from all over.

EDIT: Should also note I haven't seen It yet, but want to know what to adjust regarding expectations.

Looking forward to some of the new releases, but the telluride is what interests me the most. I'm actually getting the chance to go the see films from it in Dartmouth. I'm very much looking forward to seeing The Shape of Water on the big screen.

Logan Lucky & Wind River are both very well-recommend, and I've heard great things about Good Time as well.

Already seen American Made and really enjoyed it. Fun and interesting more than anything.

As for this month I think I'll see American Assassin, IT, Kingsman, Flatliners and Wind River.

Might honestly be the worst month of the year, only interested in Kingsman really.

Errr ... after this summer, things will definitely start looking up after IT comes out.

Good Time and Logan Lucky are great. I was mixed on Wind River, but worth seeing for the last third. The Big Sick is solid, but doesn't necessarily demand a theatrical experience. I strongly disliked Atomic Blonde and looking forward to Girls Trip.

Not sure if it's playing near you, but Nocturam and Columbus are both capital-G great.

I think I'm gonna watch most of those. It, Super Dark Times, Kill Me Please, Lucky, Loving Vincent and most definitely Mother!. I'm gonna watch Flatliners because of Nina Dobrev, Tulip Fever, Kingsman The Golden Circle, Friend Request, 9/11 and Inhumans. None of them in the cinema though.

I'm also gonna have to look out for digital releases of all of those documentaries; Rat Film and The Challenge has peaked my interest.

Big sick is a great comedy that injects some heavier moments to the end.

Lucky Logan is just a lot of fun.

Not sure if I'll see it in theaters, but I'll probably see Mother! sometime too.
