Dark Souls III |OT+2| Why Can't We Poise the Game?

Which ever one you like better upgrade that one. How many Lords of Cinder have you killed? There's four you have to kill to get to the end of the game.
I went with the pontiff but i need to get str to 40 now i have it at 25 dex 38 before going to the dragons, soul farming time, any places for soul farming?

Anor Londo: Kill the two silver knights. Lothric castle: Kill the knights and the casters. Grand Archives: kill the three winged knights on the roof.

Ok so I just built my computer and haven't played DS2 or DS3. Which one should I go for? Should I drop $60 on this from Steam or wait for a sale?

I played 1 and Demon's Souls and loved them.

Edit: How's the online? Can I engage in jolly cooperation easily?

I think I can only farm right now the knights and the casters in Lothric, those are the ones that throw fire at you and the pontiff knights right?

Yhorm The Giant, with the silver Serpent ring you can get around 30k in about 2 mins.

You mean the area where he was? with all the church ladies and the fire golems and stuff?

DS3 is probably the most coop friendly souls game.

Just got abyss watcher down without being embered. Took me awhile to do it as in phase two his reach is insane but managed to get a backstab in, phew. Pretty intense.

So apparently i skipped a lot of content as I went straight from the undead settlement to the abyss watcher and bypassed the tree boss, siegward, the wolf god, and the entire cathedral as well as the crystal sage. No wonder the abyss watcher is challenging, as it's the second real boss for me in this game.

Now should I go back and clear the cathedral or continue into the catacombs? Leaning towards the former...

Cathedral is not optional. You must defeat its boss to progress past the catacombs. May as well do it now. Also, tree boss is worth killing to be able to make boss soul items.

Thanks, will do those. Man this game is pretty good, I might even prefer this over bloodborne due to the theme and lore, just a personal choice really.

Yeah, it's my favourite game in the series.

Also, don't bother with boss weapons if you're a dex build, 90% of them are strength weapons which sucks. I just popped them for Souls, after like the tenth one I gave up looking at the wiki to see which weapon it would give me and just popped them straight away.

There is a very nice ring you get from one, Prisoner chain or something, gives you some free levels.

Apart from that I havent even consumed them at all, thinking I had to use them for history purposes lol.

I defeated the big ass dragon in the Dragon place, it was epic as shit cause I was running for my life all over the place and them enemies are though as shit and aggressive, really fun place.

I also killed Aldrich at the first try, I summoned a NPC and made it easy for me, but maybe since Im OP as hell now, 40/40 quality build.

Now to kill the nameless king, that from some stuff I have been reading I will be here a long time with him.

No that is Irithyll. Lothric castle is near the beginning of the game where you beat Vordt but you need to beat the Dancer first if you haven't.

Reached the final boss, now doing ariandel dlc. Sir Vilhelm is just curb-stomping my heavy melee build. Any advice? Feels really dumb to be losing so hard to this, when I've beat DS1, 2 and now almost all of 3.

Shit mayne, I think I died more to Vilhelm than any other boss in either DLC...

I think I just ended up 'gittin gud' with my parries and I'm never good with them.

Yeah I'm planning to go all katanas as I like the speed and combos.

So just killed the Crystal Sage and it seems that
he did not even go into phase 2 when I coated my weapon with poison.
Just straight up combo'd him to death.

Crystal Sage is very weak to poison. Usually gets poisoned in like 3 hits.

Well for the first time in my life I threw my controller on the floor. Those double wielding scimitar red eye skellies. Harder than the abyss watchers i swear. Lost a huge bunch of souls. I'm gonna take a break lol. Smouldering lake is the most frustrating map so far, and it's optional. I don't know why i bother.

Tip for those skellies: using a weapon that does Strike damage (blunt weapons) knocks them down.

I like to use the Mace against them. Its sold by Greirat, and the weapon art (Perseverance) allows you to trade blows while it's active.

Thanks! Will give it another go later. I should have thought about using blunt instruments.

Edit: Okay, the mace turned them into utter jokes.

Real edit: Damnit, i just found out about upgrading the estus flask...always thought the bone shards were for pvp.

20 tries and so far only half his life bar I can take down.

Nameless King.

Jesus christ.

Help?

Circle to right and don't attack until he attacks first, then counter attack. You could also try having on lightning resist gear and shield. I know the Dragonslayer Greatsheild has like 85% lightning resist and I've heard of people having success using that in the second phase. Personally, I do the first one. Just circle to the right and wait for him to attack and then counter attack.

There's also the Lothric Knight Shield with 87% lightning resist and only 18 Strength required.

So I think I just PVP'd for the first time in any souls game. Was embered as I arrived at the first bonfire in Irythill(sp?) and got a notification that am invaded. I actually thought that would be an NPC or something so I just ignored it and went ahead and engaged the first couple of mobs patrolling around. Got the first one down with a little trouble as he was really quick. Healed up and that's when I saw a red tinged mob named [Dark Spirit XXX]. He was just standing there near another patrolling enemy, not moving. So I shrugged and pulled the nearest mob and started fighting. The moment I was hit and down to 50% health however this dark spirit came and started hitting me as well.

I was shocked. I mean, I shouldn't be, but I ignored all the multiplayer stuff, never joined a convenant or summoned anyone as I wanted to solo the game. So I pulled back and managed to focus on the mob and killed it off near my bonfire while dodging and deflecting attacks from the dark spirit. I then shifted my efforts on killing this interloper but when I got his health down to 10% he quickly ran and hid amongst another group of patrolling mobs. He also healed up to full, which is frustrating. So I drank my estus and waited as well, kinda pissed that I had to waste my playtime dealing with this asshole.

I think after about 10 minutes he swapped weapon to some two handed sword which attacks really fast and came for me. I was using a kite shield and the good ol' uchi but I never really know what to expect. We fought and he managed to get a backstab in, ouch!. I cut him down a few minutes later though with R1 spam hehe.

Is this what pvp will be like this point forward? Dealing with invaders that hide behind mobs and waiting till I'm vulnerable. I mean, I don't mind if he just came swinging but I don't want to waste my time. Also there were a few moments where he just teleported around, probably due to lag?

On the plus side, it was heart pumping and I spent the next 15 minutes practicing my parry on the mobs so I got a little gudder.

Invasions can be like that yes but to slightly defend the invader, he does have less hp and less healing than you and most of the time people have blues or Darkmoons summoned in to help. Now, you didn't have that but that invader didn't know that and easily could've been ganked by you and 2 other people(trust me, it isn't fun to fight off 3 people at once) so he did the safe thing and went back and healed. BTW, Irythyll is a good spot you'll get invaded(there's two area covenants that are associated with the area) at if you don't get invaded in the forest.

Invaders come in all sorts, some will rush you and spam R1, some will try to have an honorable duel and will politely wait till you clear the area and let you heal up before bowing and attacking, some will try to ambush you with a OHK plunge attack and a few will just run around completely naked throwing dung pies at you.

Thanks, I have a better understanding now. Didn't know that they have lower hp etc. Kind of makes it a bit unpredictable which is kinda fun. Never got invaded before this though, even though I was embered.

Isn't there a way to make mobs attack invaders?

And you can always summon some players to help you deal with invaders.

Yes, this is basically invasions in a nutshell in DS3.

Use a giant tree seed (you get them from the hub) to make mobs attack, although it last very little.

Yes. PvP in Dark Souls is 80% griefers, 15% people who actually want a good fight, and 5% hackers who range from huge assholes to hilarious good-natured trolls.

Yes but thank god it was nerfed tho. Its only 45 seconds now. No idea what the point was of having this when the invader has to fight off 3 people (sometimes 4 if they dried fingered) as well as having less health and estus and limited hunter charms to stop healing.

Would love a good hearted troll haha. Just kille the pontiff boss, fun fight but got him on the third try by just sticking close to him with a shield. Was surprised his summons goes down rather quickly. I just lit the bonfire to anor londo but decided to go do the dungeons first. Holy crap the patrolling mobs reduces your health like insanely fast. I'm not going to be embered in this area...

I finished the game, since for some reason I decided to farm covenant items before continuing my run I got leveled up so damn much with all the souls I got, I farmed the Lothric Knights probably for 5 hours to get the Sun Medals, god damn man, I also farmed the Silver knights at anor londo for proofs of concepts, also grhus at teh swamp for wolf stuff, but eventually went and killed the last boss but didnt went to new journey yet, will clean up as much as I can before doing it.

Speaking of invasions whenever I invade I get wrecked and when someone invades me I still get wrecked WTF.

Fun hacker:
I summoned Navi the Fairy | Dark Souls 3

Lame hacker (but admittedly still kinda funny):
Dark Souls 3 PvP: HACKER ENCOUNTER! THE BLADE MASTER!

Huge asshole (getting people soft banned by forcibly giving them hacked souls):
Dark Souls 3 Malcolm Reynolds Hacker Douche

About griefers vs a good fight - The way PvP was specifically set up in Souls from the very beginning is that it happens within the framework of the PvE game. So if I'm right in thinking what griefing means, PvP in Souls is purposefully all about griefing - You're playing through the game and get invaded and it's an 'oh shit!' moment because you're probably hoping to clear the immediate area of enemies before the invader arrives and takes advantage of the situation.

It's only with the DS1 DLC that they introduced a standalone PvP arena, probably because they saw the popularity of duels and fight club situations players had created themselves.
Everyone plays the game the way they like - I have no problem with invaders running in to mobs and trying to get a 'cheap' win that way - if it's allowable in the game it's fair game as far as I'm concerned. I've always loved to play cat and mouse with invaders and use anything I can to fuck with them, turn the tables on them and ruin their parade, so my favourite pvp areas are ones with environmental things I can use to my advantage - Sen's, Catacombs, Anor Londo, Parish in DS1 for example - personally I'm not interested in duels and 'fair' fights, that's what fight clubs and PvP arenas are for - PvP in the main game (invasions) was originally set up to be unfair by design, and I'm cool with that.

This farming is insane, still ways to go for completing covenants stuff.

Switched builds and now Im rocking the Sellsword Blades +10 using Pontiffs Right eye, Lloyds Ring,Carthus Beacon and buffing them as I go, Im wrecking everything with the L1 move, going up the attck as 700+ AR in a single L1 press sometimes, insanity.

Love it.

I've farmed around ~150 LEVELS on Anor Londo knights (thousands of knights killed). They are THE fastest way to farm in the entire game - killing the 3 Fat Angels takes more time so exp/time earned is the best on Anor Londo knights.

Just remember to shut off your brain while doing the runs.

Im doing exactly that but not for souls anymore but for the proof of concept or something what I need for the Blue covenant, shit is insane, I get one every hour of farming I think.

Lots and lots of souls, Im reaching like Level 200 or something, when I get tired I farm the Gru chamans in Farron Keep for the watchdogs items, and so on lol.
