What is this and who the hell is Jeff? Jeff Bogard maybe?

The upcoming KoF Destiny animation - and yeah, that's Geese about to justify Terry's revenge story by beating Jeff Bogard to death, with the Jin scrolls more explicitly on the line - compare and contrast the version inf the Fatal Fury Wild Ambition opening, where that event takes place when Geese was younger. I figure they didn't want to make a different Geese model for the occasion, I I kinda prefer the more grounded and blunt tone of the original, but I like the new design for Jeff.

Looks like SNK has extended their e-sports support program for XIV by a year.

Here's hoping SNK's engine (lighting, shader etc. improvements) will be able to do the models justice in the next game.

I don't know if it has been ever discused, but having 10-20 seconds loading times between rounds, everytime a fighter is KOd, would ruin the flow of the game.

I was hoping SNK could make a minimal balance tweak after.EVO. Lower the damage of Benimaru's Max Mode level 1 combos, but just a little bit, no more than 10%; improve the damage potential of the bigger/slower characters, that kind of stuff.

I think a new balance patch will definitely hit before Evo Japan. Another graphical update patch (since it doesn't look like we will be getting XV any time soon) would be sweet but I won't hold my breath.

SNK usually lets things rock for about 6 months and it has already been almost three since the last balance patch hit.

The balance overall is very solid (there was a lot of character variety at Evo), especially for a cast of this size, but it could use some adjustments.

- Nerf Beni, Kula, Iori etc.
- Buff lesser used characters.
- Buff the DLC characters. There is no reason that they should be considered this low tier. Vanessa should not be the universal bottom tier on damn near every tier list.

Cool story about ET, the Taiwanese player who won KOF14 at EVO. I never gave it much thought but it is cool that EVO let's Taiwan represent their flag, since other places will do something like province of China. He also pretended to work for half a year (like literally leave house at 8 and find somewhere to sit so he comes back home later), which is pretty crazy, but I hope things are stable for him and continue to be that way.

It's a good thing that SNK is putting some effort into their tournament circuit. There's lots of dedicated fans over the years who have been playing these games and now is finally an opportunity for them to get more out of it.

Thanks for sharing this man, didn't know that he had it so tough and am even more glad now that he won. Also super happy that SNK added that pot bonus last second.

And that grandma :)

Things might have gone a little better for him if he had won EVO 2014 but Xiaohai and Tokido ruined it for him back then.

And honestly before this year's tournament started I thought he had the best chance to win. Throughout the tournaments I've seen, he is the player that adjusted his play style the most to take down Xiaohai. He definitely deserved that win and was the best player there that day.

Also didn't realize that this makes him the first Taiwanese Evo champ, guess that's why Gamerbee was so proud of the win. Good on Evo to give the country the proper respect and really hope that he gets some sponsorship.

First two episodes (in chinese) of KOF Destiny

It doesn't look that bad actually and I was pleasantly surprised to see so many characters already. That said, it seems as if is melding the events of the first FF with KOF.

We'll have to wait for subs to be sure.

Two episodes at once? Sweet.

Gonna wait for subs, it's supposed to be hitting Steam today iirc.

Yeah, enjoyed that first episode. Kinda funny to see Mai and Iori on signs in the airport without Kyo and Co. paying attention. And Mature wielding a gun! Jeff and Geese fighting in the middle of Southcommonstreet USA must have been pretty cool for various neighbors to wake up to.

The credits sure drop a lot of names. Will be fun to see how everyone meshes together.

The whole Mature sequence seems like an interesting expansion of Mature's role under Rugal, and getting to actually see Jeff interacting with the boys was neat, even if I liked the Geese fight scene better in the Wild Ambition opening - a drive-by fight in civilian clothes instead of Geese showing up at Jeff's doorstep in his hakama still seems more plausible, in the scope of who these things might play out..

Considering how often Mature talks about touching her leading to a swift death, was nice to see it come to fruition for once. I also liked seeing Kyo chiil with his Father for once... I expect for them to be annoying and standoffish, but to see them agree completely for a moment felt refreshing. The whole segment felt like an alt take on the early moments of JoJo's Stardust Crusaders anime, actually.

And it was nice to see Jeff with his boys. Terry's big birthday surprise being so simple swiftly says a lot for the type of boy he was. I also like how Geese tried to reason, even if only for a minor second.

Pleasantly surprised at how good that was. I was prepared to watch it because I'm a fan and mostly for fight scenes but this was genuinely good all around.

The biggest concern was how they would handle the characters (that horrendous KOF live action movie scarred me) but this felt like it was made by people who were fans of the material and characters. Kyo, Saisyu, Beni, Mature, Daimon etc. they all felt just right and how you would expect them to act. Kyo is pretty much a full on troll and his father is an older version of said troll.

The biggest missed opportunity was after Terry saved the kid at the airport, that was the perfect time for an "Are you okay?" but he just said it in Japanese :/

Also, we were this close to seeing Kyo's mom... at least I got enough info for my imagination hehe.

The Mature scene was interesting since aside from being cool it immediately set the tone for the show where we can expect deaths etc. instead of being something more younger audience friendly.

Overall, very pleased and can't wait for more. The steam reviews seem positive too. If they keep it feeling this good then it should be a great way to promote SNK and their characters/IPs.

The second ep of Destiny is up on steam.

Really good stuff, the fight scene was fantastic. You know the dev knows what's up when Ryo uses his
leaping karate chop
.

And again, they are nailing the character personalities just right. I like how Ryo even runs like in the game.

Guess we can look forward to hype every week again now ala the weekly character reveal trailers for XIV. Feels good.

EDIT: Made a thread.

Supposed power levels list from Oda himself

Doesn't Benimaru technically have the most KOF wins out of everyone? Not saying he is better than all the mystical power mumbo jumbo with Kyo and Iori, but he might be the most badass "normal" in KOF.

It doesnt make sense that Chang, a guy that can handle a 1 ton iron ball like plastic foam, is so low on that list.

Besides, how convenient that Geese and Krauser aren't in the list.

Geese is right under Terry on that list. I guess Krauser if he was on there, would be above Geese and under Terry. The big omission is Goenitz and Rugal, who should be stronger than Kyo since he needed team Japan for Rugal and Iori's help against Goenitz.

Lol. Power level nonsense. Leave that shit back in DBZ days, please. Sounds fake anyway.

Huge hint is Meitenkun being weak. Especially when he is said to have beaten Shunei all the time in Kof xiv.

Oda is uncertain about adding anything new to 14, but if SNK do, it will likely be just characters and not costumes. They think 15 will likely happen.

Here's a translation of it.

IGN: At a year from the game's launch, how it is its balance?

Yasuyuki Oda (YO): It was the first KOF on almost five years so the fan response was very positive. Even though there were some netcode issues and other issues at launch -which were fixed immediately, the response was very positive and the fans are pleased with the final product.

IGN: As Developers, are you pleased with the final product?

YO: The game isn't perfect yet, we believe there's still room for improvement but so far we've been able to do anything we've thought to improve it, so we're satisfied with the current version.

IGN: Can we expect a new entry for the series or more updates for KOF XIV?

YO: We can't deny nor confirm any of those possibilities at the moment, but we're convinced that KOF XV will be a reality. Right now we aren't sure if there will be a new patch for XIV but is definitely a possibility.

IGN: Any plans for Fatal Fury or Art of Fighting? Maybe more characters added to KOF or planning a new entry for these series?

YO: Of course we're always considering doing new entries for series like those, but since it requires the company's approval, there's a lot of people that needs to be convinced first which is no easy task, but of course that is something we'd like to do (laughs)

IGN: Within the competitive scene, what has been your experience regarding balance, players' feedback or there's someone at SNK that exclusively focuses on these area?

Hayato Watanabe (HW): Of course we're always listening the opinions from fans and competitive players but that doesn't mean we implement all the suggestions we get. We want the game to be accessible, not too hard and fun. We aways listen to players and general public feedback but we are very careful to implement it. There's no one in charge of this, so I personally do the balance changes, listening to the feedback and implement those changes.

IGN: KOF XIII is one of the most successful entries on the series, any chance it comes back on an improved version?

YO: No plans at the moment for something like that

IGN: There are talks about SNK support for eSports, how do you plan to do it?

YO: We've been offering support to tournaments for a while now, not only in Japan but worldwide. For major tournaments we're offered cash prize and we'd like to continue doing it, not only for KOF but for any other game we'll release.

IGN: There will be more EX Characters for XIV?

YO: We aren't sure yet if there will be more DLC or patches, but the players' response to the new characters back on April was really good, so if we do more DLC, we'd rather do new characters than costumes since players like them more.

IGN: What are your favorite characters?

YO: I've been an Antonov fan of late because I believe he's too kawaii

HW: Luong, she has been my favorite since the start and that hasn't changed.

IGN: There will be another world championship like the one on Japan? Can we expect something alike to the Capcom Cup?

YO: Obviously we'd like another WCS but there's a lot of regional events and we need to be careful with the schedules so they don't overlap. But if we do anything similar, We'd like to do it our way, not copying anyone else.

IGN: Do you really sit down and play the title, putting yourselves on the player's skin, not a developer's?

HW: We try to put ourselves on the player's place, not the advanced ones but the casuals, and we try to make the game more interesting and fun for that kind of audience as possible.

IGN: Anything else you might want to add?

YO: We're developing many more fighting games that we can't reveal yet but we'd like for you to keep an eye on us.

HW: We intend to keep updating and improving the game as long we keep getting feedback from the players, so we'd like to keep getting their opinions on our Facebook, Twitter and Steam pages.

YO: Another thing I'd like to add is that sometimes my phone rings and I get called directly by fans, I don't know from which country or language, but please; don't do it because most of the time I can't understand you Facebook is the best way to reach me. I don't know what are they saying but I can tell they're very passionate (laughs)
