Offline mode should work. Some games require online mode being active, so, yeah, they require VPN, as well as activating games with DRM.

Interestingly, it's still possible to download/install games, but the EULA pop-up shows an error - the downloads aren't caught be the DNS block, but the EULA pages are.

It's worth a try. I don't use it cause it makes my connection turn to shit, but Unifi users might have better luck.
