There's a lot of racism in Europe and in some places is still accepted, even between european countries. But maybe the biggest racism in UE is against muslim people and it's a big problem we actually suffer.

But also we consume a lot of american media and the n word is not actually understood for a lot of people. The poor translations of the movies and the education levels of some countries can be the reason people like me found hard to understand at first, even a lot of us are against racial prejudices.

Said that I perfectly understand that for the biggest youtuber it's very easy to know the words you can say and you can not for your bigger audience.

Do we need to censor words if we're just talking about someone word using the word? If you're not using the word yourself and just use it in a context not directed at someone, does it need censoring?

My opinion, just do not use the word. Simple. Even in explanation. It is steeped in centuries of hatred, murder, rape and slavery. And it's only as prevalent in today's society because of a large underbelly of people, specifically like Pewdiepie, who feel it's okay to ever use it.

Don't know if that is necessarily true. At least in Brazil the people that I knew and used the word learned it from American black media. They liked basketball and tried to talk the same way the guys from movies. Probably I learned about how offensive the word was when I entered in contact with foreign people.

The other thing is that here "negro" is the right word and "preto"(black) is the offensive one.
