I am not understanding here how so many are dismissing what he said. I mean he is free to say what he wants. But why should anyone else accept or normalize it. The best thing we can do is contact all of the developers that PewDiePie profits off of and link them most, if not all, incidences of his racism. I highly doubt any self-respecting corporation would want their content to be used by a highly prolific, visible racist.

It is a normalising factor though. I imagine the mindset is similar to piracy culture: sure it's bad, but it can't be that bad if everyone's doing it.
Not saying that makes it okay, not for a moment, but I can imagine how that could be the case.
I can't really think of another racial or discriminatory term which has as a common a place in mainstream culture and I'd be surprised if that didn't have some kind of effect.
