Sometimes this game really knows to get you all excited only to bring you down moments after.

I found this sweet staff thinking "Oh, sweet looking ice staff!" only to find out the actual model is a bed pole. :( Why don't the models represent the artwork more.

I don't know when this started, but new uniques they're adding get matching 3D models from the start now, but there's a backlog of old uniques that have yet to be updated. It's slow going, made worse by alternate art variants.

Ah I see, that's good to hear.

Since we have passed the one month mark of the league, I think it's time for some reflection and what I would like to see in the future for PoE:

The good of 3.0:

*Leveling feels good now and I enjoyed the new content. New enemies, tiles and bosses. Some of the bosses need tuning for visual clarity though.

*I like the new Harbinger items introduced and the currency items.

*I like the Flask nerfs, doesn't make them as necessary as before but still worth getting. Best change was to Vessel of Vinktar, now it's only something that Lightning builds should be using.

*Loving the buffs to physical damage, attack skills and life/evasion in general.

*The curse immunity flask change is godlike, don't change please!

*Liking the buffed uniques from the Pale court, makes them worth running now.

*Crit nerfs were justified.

*Boss HP makes it a smoother progression to the guardians and you actually have to respect some boss mechanics now.

*Uber Lab changes are very nice especially early on.

*Tutorial system is fine I guess, I am not really a new player so I can't judge.

*Yay more currency stash slots!

*Zana mods are good and mostly worthwhile.

The Bad:

*New skill gems were underwhelming. Dark Pact is over tuned, the others are under tuned. Dark Pact isn't event that interesting playstyle wise.

*Harbinger end game is kinda lame even though for currency and EXP it's great. Would have liked to see unique bosses corresponding to each of the uniques.

*ES/CI and spell in general got hit too hard. This is a double edge thing because while ES is nerfed we are seeing more hybrd and MoM builds than before. I think if ES got a slight buff back it would be in a fine spot.

*The Atlas was left mostly untouched and the end game is still the same as before. Would have liked to see the new stuff making it into the Atlas but I guess that's for the next patch.

*Ailment changes were atrocious. Enough said. This also corresponds to the new uniques in the patch which are almost all ailments based which makes them kinda dud at the moment.

*I don't like the new bandit system, I feel that the non 2 skill points are pretty underwhelming even if you build makes use of them. I think that the options should be buffed to include the charges back and give us a 3rd skill point to compensate for the inclusion of charges in the other categories.

*Pantheon system is underwhelming and the system to get them is bad. Mostly because if you start a new character then you have to do it all over again which is wack. And please let us put Sin in the hideout or something.

*Boss HP buffed is a good thing but the loot/EXP not being changed with it is bad. It's almost not worth doing bosses if you aren't insanely over geared in single target damage.

*Dynamic resolution change is a god send. Finally I can maintain not shit framerates.

Here are things I would like to see in the next major expansion:

*Jesus ChrisT just please give us some bow skills gems already. Just more skill gems in general, 3 is not enough.

*New content in the Atlas and rework Atlas. Bosses need to be way more rewarding to compensate for the HP buff. Honestly I wouldn't mind a buff to minion HP as well.

*Create more divination cards for hard to get items (like a Skyforth divination card) and distribute them in the lesser played high end maps. I feel like this league showed that people are willing to play shit maps if they can have a chance to get a good drop. This also helps solo self found players.

*Ailments especially bleed need a buff. That Crimson keystone needs to be worked because it's mega lul.

*Please let Raider have Onslaught on max Frenzy charge on Avatar of the Chase/Rapid Assault pathing. Kinda lame that Raider can't sustain Onslaught against bosses yet Scion can even though that whole Ascendancy pathing is all about Onslaught.

*The Bandit change I suggested before.

*Honestly they should lower the amount of fusings required to 6 link from Vorici. That shit is such a noob trap. They probably will never do that because that is probably in the game as a skill tester. I wouldn't mind 6l requirement to be eased up but I get that they want 6l to be super hard to get.

*Please remove the +2 projectile Helm enchants. Some of the Enchants are just busted compared to other. Like the +2 projectiles are more damage multipliers versus something like increased Freeze Pulse damage. Barrage is already stupid good as it is.

*Buff ES and self cast spell builds slightly. I think it's time we see more flasks that benefit spell casters.

*Vaal Pact and reflect damage needs to be reworked, it's a long ass time coming. This is something that might actually happen because it gets brought up often.

*Please buff some of the shitty gems and uniques. The 2.6 patch had a ton of buffs but 3.0 was almost entirely nerfs. GGG has said in the past that they like to do 1:10 nerf to buff changes but this time it was the opposite. They need to redeem themselves with the next patch. Of course this involves making more threshold gems as well.

*God damn auction house already. I can't tell you how many people tried to scam me out of my Doctor card, shit is fucking infuriating. Kept getting whispers to buy it out for 600C when that's like 2-3 Exalts fewer than it is actually worth. Trading is so wack in general..

Lab will never not be wack. Randomly hiding bosses behind the only platformy sections in the entire game is laughable. Not even 1% of content in the game involves traps except for labs that are required to get ascendency points. It's mind bogglingly stupid game design.

.
Yup. They did touch it a couple times before, but I don't know what they could possibly do to fix it. They already tried to reduce it down to 60% before, but they waked that back. Instant leech is just inherently broken, not just because it's instant, but because it's a simple solution.

My Bleed Cyclone Slayer felt good, but I only made it to 71 before I had my unfortunate strongbox accident... I guess it falls off bad, huh? Poison I haven't looked at at all.

I dunno, lab has been my favorite part of the whole game

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I definitely see the argument against gating character progression behind it, though.

I personally hate labs. They're just too long for me. I still haven't even bothered getting my Merciless Lab because labs feel so tedious. I hate the Trials too.

I love maps because they're super quick to get through, and I don't feel like I lose a lot of I need to drop out in the middle of it.

Yeah, every single build I've seen and every single advice about bandits suggests to go for the skill points. The other options are just not good.

Trade macro is the best for checking stats and prices on items. https://github.com/PoE-TradeMacro/POE-TradeMacro

Need to run the game in borderless for it to work though, which is a shame because I get so much better performance in fullscreen. =/

As for trading, you find the item you need on poe.trade, press the whisper button under it and paste the message in the game and it sends a message to the guy saying you want that item. He then invites you, you go to his hideout and you trade.

Thanks!

I finally finished act 10 on Xbox one it was painful since new to the game and the trade system is so bad. Act 9 and 10 were just brutal since could not get any decent drops. Is there anywhere to farm before maps since I assume t1 will destroy my under geared character. Basically until things change its basically self found. I just need a place to get level appropriate gear so I can survive t1 and actually kill things with out having to blast them with a ton tornadoes. Not expecting anything good just something not beyond bad I have now. It's frustrating the the development team let this awful trade system go live since the game basically forces trade to make progress at a reasonable rate.

In my experience if you can kill Kitava, you can handle the first couple map tiers.

My lucky today has been amazing.

Sold my Disfavour for 18 exalts today. A nice 900c profit. I bought it for 250c and 6Led it in like 50 fusings.

Bought 4 ex in fusings. 6Led my Doomfletch in like 200 fusings. Had a Steel ring with T1 phys damage, and T1 Fire res with a T2 strength roll. SLammed T1 fire damage and T2 life.

And just now. Got a The Doctor card drop. Holy fuck. What a day.

T1 maps really aren't anything special.

I'm a lot more threatened by those enemies in the factory/mines in A9 that throw white fire. I've been clearing T4 maps and went back to that area in A9 and almost died.

What was that purple thing in a map? I touched it and there was a circle that didn't stop expanding. Everything inside was black and white with a crap ton of shadow monsters inside. I kinda panicked since I didn't know WTF was hapleninf and died. I went back and it was peaceful. What did I miss by dying?

Those are Breaches. You kill all those guys and they drop Splinters. collect 100 of one kind (there are 5) and you get to go to an endgame map. Haven't seen it myself though.

Also they are just generally great for getting lots of loot.

I'm brand new to this game and genre (never played diablo). What's a popular templar build that's easy to make for a noob?

Spell totem heirophant is like THE beginner Templar build. It's easy to level, has good clear speed and doesn't really have any gear requirements.

Downside is that it doesn't have the kind of dps you need to make boss farming economical, at least usually.

Breaches may as well not exist as end game objectives in this league. They are fun to do, but far too rare and you need way too many splinters to access the end bosses.

Shame as I much prefer them to harbingers, who've been a complete flop as far as I can see. The new currencies are great, but harbingers themselves are dull as ditchwater.

Storm Call can be played with Totems as well. Fun build but not the most damaging spell you can use, AFAIK.

Totems are more about flexibility, safety, and very low gear requirements than having the most DPS. It's why they're great for starting new leagues.

unless you have zana 8 anyways

every single map i've done for the past week or so other than the occasional unique or whatever has had 2-3 breaches in it

Why is 1500 fuses for Vorici a noob trap? Not challenging the assumption, I genuinely don't know. As far as I understand, you need ~1200 fuses on average for a 6 link on a 20% quality item, don't you? 1500 for a safe 6 link doesn't seem so outrageous in comparison?

The chance is 1 in 1200 but of the dozens or so 6 links I have done in the past, never have I gone past 1200 fusings required. This is the experience of most other people too. I would say on average I get an item 6 linked around the 500-600 range and often it's before that. I mean I was suggesting that Vorici cost be reduced to 1200 to match the actual mathematical chance and I would think even THAT is a noob trap (but a reasonable noob trap at least).

It's just much more economical trying to fuse manually than to use Vorici. Like if you have 1500 fusings in your bank ready to 6 link... then if you try to manually link it then it's possible that you can get 2-3 6 links.

You guys know what else is a noob trap (after a certain point)... Chaos vendor recipe. I say past a certain point because starting out its very good when you can't speed farm maps but when you start farming in red tier maps, it's actually inefficient to try to pick up items, make a proper set and turn in for 2 Chaos. In that time you can probably speed through two tier 11 maps and get 2 Chaos anyway.

Also Breaches start becoming a factor when you have Zana at lvl8. My Zana is almost lvl8 and you better god damn believe I am going to be putting in Breaches every single map if I can afford it. It's 6 Chaos per map to put in 2 Breaches and it's absolutely worth it especially if you have the map Sextanted.

Also use a Bisco's Collar on every character.

Yeah, every single build I've seen and every single advice about bandits suggests to go for the skill points. The other options are just not good.

Alira is fine for Crit builds I think. The 15% resistance is relevant (especially if you are going for end game farming with Biscos) and 20% Crit multiplier is difficult get on skill tree without a couple of skill point investment.

Across 5 characters I've used over 8000 fusings to try and 6 link items. I've gotten one 6 link. I'd say the noob trap lies in not using vorici.

I struggled with a bunch of t1 maps today. Got 0 upgrades and only 3 levels because of deaths. It amazes me the developers even treats t1 gear as something special that don't drop. I figured they'd allow t1 gear to drop nope. Was a waste of 6 hours. Can't do the 2 areas with bosses that have adds get over ran not enough dps or toughness. I have not played a game this player unfriendly since muds in the old days. I even plugged my nose checked the trade board not 1 worth while item must be 50 people playing standard Xbox with me. Patch Thursday for Xbox hopefully has those loot filters so don't pass up any thing I could save to sell later.

20 quality? Damn son you are a special kind of unlucky.

If it took me 8K fusings to 6 link only 1 item then I would've quit the game a long time ago.

Like think about it... at 8K Fusings for 1 link, that's 4K Chaos for a 6 link. You can get a 6 link for like 300-400C easy. So then why would anyone actually manually link themselves?

King Kaom sealed my love of the game for me.

It's the first time I've actually had to think about what I was doing, the first time I had to be a little bit strategic about how I played, still beat him on my first go, but if this is a sign of things to come, I am down!

Not really convinced by this to be honest. You got lucky and that's about it.

So I just lost my level 66 ED Trickster to lag (I really should use that disconnect macro, alt+f4 wasn't enough), I know it's not that far to more experienced players but I was pretty disappointed because I never got that far before and I felt totally safe with maxed resistances, solid HP and mind over matter. What should I play next? I've tried Cyclone (fun), Sunder (the opposite of fun), and Charged Dash (very fun, but I think it's not ideal with my bad PC), Fire Nova Mine (somewhat fun, not ideal with my PC). I have not touched Templar and Scion at all, and barely Witch.

Always 20 quality. Like I said, I'm probably one of the most unlucky players in poe when it comes to linking items. Many other players I've spoken to have had similar stories where they've spent 2-3k fusings and still not gotten a 6 link. Just because a vocal portion of the playerbase has stories of getting 6 links in 200 fusings, that doesn't mean there's not another equally large group who are incredibly unlucky whenever they try to 6 link something.

I got fucking destroyed running Poorjoy's today. I mean really fucking destroyed. Immediately one hit entering any room kind of destroyed. Bit of a waste but live and learn.

That's him!, mine took a little longer than that!!!

FWIW, how do you get those sparkly things around your character?, and what's that thing following you around.
Those sparkly things are my pet(microtransaction). That thing following me around is a Lightning Golem. It can be summoned by using the skill Summon Lightning Golem. It grants more Attack Speed and does some other stuff, too.

It's not just me, that's what most people experience who play the game. Talk to any high end PoE player, streamer or just in general who has played the game a long time, they will tell you the same.

I am pretty sure Zizaran does a service where he does a 6 link service for you. He takes your 1500 fusings and item, then 6 links for you. If he goes over then he will pay you the difference (he will give it back to you 6 linked), if not he keeps the fusing. He has never had to give fusings and he always comes out on top.

Let's just say that on average people do in fact fuse in 1200 fusing (even though I can tell you that the average is much lower), 1500 fusing is still a scam. GGG should just lower the guarantee fusing to 1200 fusings at Vorici.
