In a game where Arena Assault, Tempest Trials and Squad Assault all require you keep a large bench, there's no excuse for not promoting the starter trio.
For the 20% TT bonus maybe.

Aside from Anna, I really can't see myself using any of them in AA. Not to mention they'll need to be SI-ed.

Sitting on 40+ orbs burning a hole in my pocket because I REALLY want a Brave Lucina to complete the set but then I know I'll be pissed at myself if there is a new banner in the coming days.

Finished up what I'm willing to do on tempest with a score of 31k+, now I'll just use it to sp farm my Masked Marth meme build till the end.
Good choice, likely Oboro would be waiting to say hi if you pulled xD.

Brave Lyn, Brave Roy, and 2 dancers cleared Infernal GHB. Wasn't too bad. Basically just Roy triggering Galeforce a bunch and getting out of harms way, while Lyn finished everything off.

Somehow bungled my way to a victory on my first try of infernal Robin. It looked so bad at one point that I almost surrendered, lol. But the chokepoint works against the AI and they all get hung up on each other.

Used TA2 Xander, Gronnblade+ Cecilia, Fury 2 Camus and WoM Azura. I initiated the usual way by attacking the green axe with my mage and dancing/drawing back, but I couldn't put horse buffs on Cecilia due to the positioning so she didn't do a lot of damage to him. I had multiple occasions of not-quite killing enemies (axe lived with 1 HP), and I was only able to save Azura because Xander took exactly half his HP in damage so she could teleport to the corner.

After I stirred up the hive I basically just retreated to the square in the bottom left and used Swap/Dance shenanigans to kill the enemies as they crowded into that little hallway. Came down to Camus taking one hit from the blue mage and Cecilia surviving a hit from the red mage. But everyone lived and I won.

Back at 40k feathers. Looking at Fae for my next promote, but I could also do Cherche. Going to sit on my Hectors for a little bit, a DC armor team may be in my future or they might put in some more powercreep legendary weapons.

Beat Robin Infernal using Brave Roy, Cecilia, Camus, and Brave Lyn.

Brave Roy killed the Green Axe user then Galeforced back to safety. The following turns, I killed the blue mage with Cecilia, Robin with Brave Roy, and everyone other than the red mags with Brave Lyn (using Brave Bow+). The Red Mage was last and Brave Roy was able to tank a hit from him, then kill him the next turn.

People really are sleeping on Brave Roy. I'd say he's the 2nd best unit to pull from the CYL banner.
Not sleepin' on him at all.

And in the other hand, when you're F2P, or at least not a whale, it's nice to have a guaranteed bonus unit for each arena "season"...
I'm no whale, I've only spent like $6, and I've done very well for myself in this game and have a great stock of characters and usually have a bonus units, excluding the base trio.

Course I'm also very lucky at times too.

Yeah, I can understand, I've been lucky on the last few banners as well so I've had no problem for the last TT or arena seasons, but I can very well see myself not having this kind of luck in the future, and I'll be happy to have a starter unit to fall back onto at that point. :)

Brave Roy is definitely really, really good, but he doesn't come close to reaching Lyn's metagame-defining dominance, and he's not quite comparable to Ike's oppressive enemy phase. He's certainly more powerful than Lucina, but the +3 Atk / +6 Speed boost she provides is amazing.

Finished the Tempest Trial today. I hope we get more like these mini ones, it was great!

As a reward to myself, did all 5 summons on the brave banner. Wound up with:
Lyn (+HP, -Res)
Roy (+HP, -Res)

Thrilled with Roy since he's new, but Lyn... I already have a neutral one, with all the bells and whistles inherited (Brave Bow, etc etc). Not sure if I want to go through it again to have another one with better HP. My original was Neutral all around. Decisions...

HP are not really useful on her since she already gets OHKO quite easily and she's not supposed to be approached. I wouldn't sacrifice res for that.

Scored 4840 in Arena Assault. My best so far. Could be even better but I'm too cheap to kit out Amelia for my starter team.

The craziest match I had was on the double bridge map against Azura, Brave Lucina, Celica and Amelia First thing I had to do was bait the Celica so opted to use Nowi for that. The thing was I didn't want to use anyone too good and I needed to move her 3 spaces. My solution was a level 1 4* Selena. Used her to toss Nowi and she took out Celica as I intended.

I actually chose my Celica for the heck of it and figured it'd be easy enough to take out the Amelia. WRONG. She was 4 damage short. I forgot to mention this monstrosity had DC and could KO my Celica. No idea how. She runs L&D3 but her physical bulk is still in the 50s. I dunno man. There I was thinking I was screwed and then what saved it was the Amelia walking into range of Nowi's Threaten Res. Managed the 1OHKO by 1 point. Never mind Azura and Brave Lucina, my boy Michalis bodied the two of them.

Also all these Lyns are helping me get some use out of the Saber I pulled a while ago. Mine takes 3 damage from her and that's it since he doesn't get doubled. Wish he wasn't so gimmicky so I could use him more. Dude carried me through SoV on Celica's side.

The starter trio is becoming more valuable over time. Since they're on rotation for Tempest Trials and gain boosted stats in there, they make good members of autobattle squads. I still can't justify Alfonse as I have sooo many good reds but I went ahead for Anna.

I've already given her Desperation and Iceberg. Fury 3 will go in slot 1, slot 3 will likely be hone speed or spur speed. I had a shower thought about Galeforce as her special and it might actually work. She could tank a hit from even the beefiest Reinhardt which would in turn give her 2 special charge as well as activate her Escape Route and Desperation. I would then double and kill that Rein on her next turn, with QP this would activate galeforce allowing her to teleport to safety or to another kill. It sounds convoluted and situational but I start every match with a Reinhardt by having someone take a hit from him and kill him. It'd be nice to have a safe method to turn Anna into a monster while keeping my other units healthy.

Main issue is that Anna's attack isn't great so she wants a damaging special to kill shit. But it sounds like a fun build.

I'd probably just use that Lyn to give out Swift Sparrow to a Firesweep user.

I agree that the starters are getting more useful. I was thinking about building a team around Lancina and realized that because she works best with physical units, you need a physical unit who can tank Rein, which naturally leads to Anna.

I think my Lancina is +def -res, which puts her in roughly the same territory as Ike. Amazing against physical units, but gets destroyed by magic of any sort. So any units I put with Lancina need to have at least decent res.

I mean, if you are a F2P like me, I seriously don't know what better use gameplay-wise you can find for that 60k feathers than the assurance of having a arena bonus char every single season. And since they are always the bonus chars your subsequent SI investment on them will have even shorter ROI. Granted, I now have a 4*+10 Hana and a 4*+10 Sophia, and in the not so distant future, I should have a 4*+x (x > 6 or 7) Cecilia that will also surpass the Askrans in terms of scoring. Still, I will have 6 out of every 12 weeks that I will likely have to rely on the Askrans because my luck in pulling focus units has be historically terrible.

Speaking of 4*+10 Hana, it is kinda bittersweet business. I enjoyed the score boost she had brought, but her lack of real combat usefulness is making my arena battles a lot more stressful then I would like. She has Armor Slayer + and L&D 3, but no matter how insane her damage output is on paper, a red sword infantry without DC just has no place in the current meta. Unless I'm handed with free lunch like Hectors or Amelias (which I have not been lucky enough to meet any this week), she just got to sit at the corner and maybe use Reposition occasionally. Even my +Atk S-Supported Hector with Distant Def Seal is kinda suffering the same fate. Maybe I'm over-reliant on Reinhardt + Olivia, but in a Reinhardt + Blyn flooded arena, I kinda have to.

And speaking of Reinhardt + Blyn, my 7th game in my first streak had greeted me with Olivia (lead) + Blyn + 2 Reinhardts. And it had to take place on the lava map which favors ranged units to a absurd degree, ofc. The Blyn is + 6 or something, and one of the Reinhardts is +10. All the 3 horses are carrying Hone Cav as you can expect. I refused to surrender because this was the last game in the streak so surrender or fight on makes no difference but it inevitably cost my deathless streak. I was so close to breaking 4920 for the first time; I even won two 706 (a score I have never seen before) matches in the first 6. Grrr, guess I can't sit back and relax just yet.

I'm planning on spending my next 60k feathers buffing up Claire, because I feel like it! I dont use feathers very wisely though.

I think if you run Hana, you need to pair her with a bulkier red sword for baiting purposes. Hana is more to run in, murder something, then get back out. That's why I have Drag Back on mine, though I don't field her very often because of how niche she is.

Merging for arena score sounds like a good idea, though. I have six Hanas with one 5* version among them, so if I merge them all together into a 4* Hana, she'll be better than my one 5* unmerged one.

Or maybe I could try the whole QuadHana thing. I have a 5* Cain I don't give a shit about.

Well, if I wanted to build a team purely for arena score then I'd have a very different team. And a +10 4* Est because I have so many fucking Ests cluttering my roster.

I still have a dozen 5*s that are lvl. 1. As someone who has a finite amount of playtime every day, it's simply not worth the investment when you could be spending feathers and stamina for SI fodder which you can then use to get into the higher tiers every month or so. Remember that going down a tier isn't a complete disaster, since you can then go up a tier again and earn additional orbs.

If you have nothing else to do, then sure.

ive started working on other 5*s for arena assault. I'm at 4 teams now. Im gonna go up to 18 next arena around, but I expect to fall back to 17 after that. Floating from 16-18 is fine with me, especially while I work on Arena Assault.

Est is a flier, so she's inherently better than Hana in terms of usefulness. lol

Hana's edge over Est is that she is a daily HB unit (hence enjoys arena bonus status 1/6 of the time) and Est isn't.

I'm sad I don't have brave Roy but Xander is doing well in my red cav slot. Maybe someday I'll have both and be able to switch out for appropriate situations. I'm done pulling til next banners though so if the brave heroes don't go Into the normal pool I'll just have to wait till they come back.

I've actually had to expand my barracks though for the first time. So much SI fodder on units I'd normally send home now that I'm actually bothering to do it myself.

Welp, Brave Lucian is dead, Hinoka broke the Pity rate. Didn't even get a good unit from the other 4 summons. This is Hero Fest all over again for me.

Saving, bah. Even if there's a Hone Fliers unit in the next banner I've got no regrets going all-in on the TT banner. I always need more Distant Counter and Ninian was an unexpected bonus.

I've got a +SPD -DEF Titania ready to go myself but I'm in no rush since I already made an emerald axe DC Camilla.

My guess is we will see Hinoka in one of the special banners that will inevitably come with the release of FE:Warriors. She's a playable character in it after all.

Robin infernal with BLyn, Sanaki, Ninian(any dancer will do), and M!Marth.

Sanaki took care of all but blue mages while BLyn killed the rest. Brought in M!Marth as a spare battery and he ended up tanking one hit for the team.

The most tricky part was keeping everyone out of each other's way, and that's how I failed a couple times initially.

Gaf, I have a Brave Lyn, Brave Roy, Reinhardt and a Cecilia. Which order should I put them, and which cavalry skill should I give to each of them?

For example, my Reinhardt has Goad Cavalry, so he should be in the middle, right?
My B! Lyn has Hone Cavalry, so she should go in the middle too, right?

The only thing that is lacking is someone with Fortify Cavalry, and another one with Ward Cavalry?

Any tips?

Anyone?

Fortify I think works best on Reinhardt as he doesn't need the fortify buff at all and because of Lyn's high res she would benefit greatly. Problem is he and Camus are the only ones with Goad Calvary. Ideally if you could swing it I would go:

Roy -Hone
Cecilia - Hone
Reinhardt - Fortify
Lyn - Goad, or you could go cheap and keep her attack smoke skill as it combos well with her high res and weapon skill against teams with a lot of mages.

I'm still not really good at builds for heroes :(

What would be the best specials I can put on Xander and lyn ( who are now s ranked and give Zero fucks about everything when properly controlled.) I was considering Ignis or Moonbow for Xander since I've seen that floating around online but I'm not sure which is best in my wip horse emblem team or if there's another option I'm not thinking of. I was contemplating promoting and sacrificing a Chrom to give Lyn Aether to heal up some of that chip dmg she tends to take but i'm open to cheaper or other suggestions for a better special choice.

atm

xander:
A: nothing, will be fury 3 after mini TT but the AI is a derp and I don't trust it not to kill him with it while autoing.
B: Vantage 3
C: Hone cavalry
support: reposition
special: rising light
Seal: distant defense 1

brave lyn: ( supporting with me as well as xander)
A: Swift sparrow 2
B: Sacae's blessing
C: Atk smoke 3 ( contemplating swapping this for ward cavalry)
support: reposition
special: dragon gaze.
Seal: Quickened pulse.

I'll be building Camus next ( and rounding out with Reinhardt whenever I can pull the bugger. It feels like everyone but me has him.

still looking for advice.

I actually had more trouble killing robin with sheena thsn the actual infernal fight itself.

Ended up playing horse emblem tag with her using priscilla + bow lyn + 1 dancer. Trapped her on the tile south east of the choke point between my two horse units before bringing sheena in for the kill lol.

Horses are broken indeed.

Could look up Xander's on gamepress

Xander wants something that can capitalise on his massive defence, so either Bonfire or Ignis. Bonfire triggers more frequently, while ignis lets you straight up delete something off the map. I prefer Ignis. Putting Quick Ripostest on Xander will charge your Special quicker and allow him to tank better early on.

Lyn has a few options. The default Draconic Aura is great if you stock to Mulagir. With a Brave Bow, QP Moonbow becomes an option, but it isn't as lucrative as it is on Rein. I'd suggest Luna over it since Lyn can Quad pretty reliably on a Horse Emblem team. Iceberg and Glacies are options too, if your Lyn is +Res.
