Maybe you only dislike it because you got this preconceived notion as to how a potential SH is supposed to be set up to be to be teased to join. Barring the super obvious stuff like a dream, Oda can go about it however he wants, it's been 9 years after all. Not to mention Jinbe is another atypical example. IMO, it's only rushing if you think it's all gonna happen in WCI. (This is not framed in a snarky way btw, just my thoughts)
As for me, I maintained that the bulk of whatever development she's set to get will be in Wano, so this is pretty much icing on the cake for me. Though in hindsight it makes sense. Plant some seeds here and there, then they go to Wano to expand on it, the "it" in this case being what the Minks consider to be the "Dawn" or whatever, maybe properly mourning Pedro's death, etc.

My favorite part of the chapter was when Big Mom grabbed hold of the ship. You can feel the tension. Oda continues to knock it out of the park.
I just feel good at least the making of the cake won't drag on...at least I hope not.
I remember during Dressrosa we all groaned with the 10 minutes or whatever it was for Luffy to get his haki back but that only ate up like 1 chapter.
I could see the same with Sanji and them making it inbetween Luffy fighting or whatever.

I like carrot hope she stays. Extra female character and has dynamics that fit right at home within the crew (younger sister relationship with chopper and namo dad a and female idiot to the crew's dynamics. More hand to hand focused female. She fills and adds a lot to the day to day scree shenanigans that makes the strawhats.

I'll say Luffy manages to eke out a win, to show that even though he stands no chance against Big Mom he's going into Wano with some progress. I almost figure that the fight leads to Luffy finding some new application of his devil fruit and Katakuri's "special paramecia" classification amounts to something.
What remains now is to see how Sanji ties into all this.

they find out after they coupe de burst.
and the stare down between Dogtooth and Loufy.

I mean he probably can to some extent, but I imagine that ability is far less useful in general in a one on one fight between CoO users since the predictions aren't ironclad and both sides have that ability to some extent. Even if he can see a bit farther it's not useful if the enemy changes their moves based on those predictions as well

I don't think Luffy is going to be able to press Katakuri enough to force this to a tie. I think this is going to be an endurance test for Luffy, with him just trying to hold-out as long as he can. This starchy Muad'Dib-lite should be way too much for Luffy to handle right now.
Luffy will win this since he's gone so long not winning a one on one fight.
He had help with Doflamingo and Cracker. He'll take down Katakuri to once again establish him as a top player for both readers and people in the One Piece world.
I wonder if there's a possibility of a new form of Gear 4 because of this fight. We know Bound Man and Tank Man, although that might be a joke/situational one, but it'd be cool to see a new form. Luffy is most likely exhausted from all the fights he's been in this arc so it's going to be a close one.
If had trouble against cracker he would have more against Katakuri
But that's getting to power level debates since Cracker ability allows him to outlast his opponents while Katakuri have to fight him head on

I don't think Oda has ever done something like that, hell Kishi didn't either even in chapter 599 when it was mostly silent chapter.

I'm willing to bet that Luffy will beat Katakuri, since this apparently this is being treated as the climactic fight of the arc, but if he does, that's gonna be a bit strange since Luffy wasn't able to beat Cracker without Nami's help, and that only after 8 hours (or however long it was).
Now Luffy is alone and he should theoretically be on a stricter time schedule since he needs to get out and escape with his lame cook before Big Mom decides to eat them along with the cake (though it's mitigated by the fact that they're stuck in mirror world).
I think it's lame that this is the final boss fight tho. Assuming that Luffy does win (and I am assuming that for now), Big Mom is going to be have another 2 of her top 4 taken out and without having the chance to fight anymore. And I know I've said this multiple times, but I still feel that Big Mom got robbed. In general, but especially as a villain. She should be the final boss while the strawhats desperately try to escape, not her number 2. Seeing her just be this ineffectual rampaging idiot whose going to be neutralized by a pastry that shitty cook and his lame waifu crap out is just disappointing, however strong she is.

Dunno, but for clarification purposes, I'm not saying Luffy should beat Big Mom. I'm saying she should be the most present and immediate threat as the climax of the arc, not her lieutenant. The final fight should be long to her as Luffy and the rest try to escape, not Katakuri.

Uhhhh, the whole reason everyone is scrambling to lead BM away is because she's the biggest threat on the island in this state.
That's why Perospero lied to her so her rage was focused on the SHs instead of her own family and subordinates.

He can, but it's not uncommon for people with that ability to be able to see into the future, and yet still be unable to stop certain events from happening. We've already seen this several times this arc, Luffy grabbing Katakuri is simply another example of this happening.

I think Oda rather not give Luffy a legitimate fight against Big Mom, as he's made it clear that he can't win, making it slightly pointless for him to bother with that, as that would also spoil the fun of seeing her abilities while sane. I believe that Oda feels that it's best to have her in this crazed state that is a threat to everyone, because if she were sane this time, then well... Luffy and co. probably would've been dead by now. This way Big Mom remains an ever-present threat until she's fed, but we still get a cool battle against someone. That said, I dunno what his plans are for her, if he's planning some future Elbaf fight, or maybe she'll fight a Yonkou, or something different entirely.
And I don't think this fight is that strange. Cracker has a DF ability that makes it very easy to outlast his opponents, creating soldiers that can tank anything that isn't Gear 4, making up for his fragile body. I guess you could criticize the seemingly weird length of the fight, but meh. Anyways, Katakuri doesn't have such an ability, so the battle is naturally going to be a lot more straightforward and shorter.
