Where do you think Bruce Straley will end up next?

He was super talented and equally as important as Druckmann, IMO. Wish him the best. Naughty Dog's reputation has given them A+ people, tho, so it shouldnt be much of a loss.

This industry makes no sense.

TLoU2 will likely be their biggest game yet ,and his departure will definitely be a negative thing.

Same thing with Adam Boyle leaving Sony at the height of PS4's success.

I guess even too much success can be a bad thing.

Success is great but it also doesn't directly correlate to happiness.

Sad to see Bruce leaving Naughty Dog but after reading about the toll TLOU + UC4 took on him (Renting a second apartment closer to work so he could work til 2-3 AM everyday) I can see why returning to AAA development might be too much.

Why would those people have to be tied to the corporation their working for if they want to do something else?

Thank you Bruce for helping create the best games I've ever played. TLOU, and UC2 rank highly for me. It must've been a tough grind going into UC4 right after TLOU!

I hope he keeps making games!

Straley had to rent an apartment close to ND studio because he was scared of commuting and putting his an other people's life in danger.

That life is pretty harsh.

is this confirmed?

I'm pretty dark (I wanted to kill Elena in Uncharted 2). Bruce is the one that would balance me and push for more levity.

Anyway, given the amount of time that Bruce took off i'm not too surprised about this. As far as where he goes from him, i'm really expecting him to either join an indie studio or start one of his own.

You should really read Blood Sweat and Pixels. There's some great insight there into how grueling the ND crunch process is. Doing TLOU and then UC4 seemed to have irreparably burned him out. Straley even says himself he was looking forward to spending a few years prototyping on a brand new thing. The idea of working on UC4 was insane to him and now with TLOU 2 announced it's not necessarily a better option. Also, sometimes working at the highest level possible with an insane quality standard isn't an environment you want to be part of, despite the success and reward after releasing a product.

Straley left because he had to work 100 hour weeks for four straight years which happened because Henning left from having to work 100 hour weeks for years.

Naughty Dog should stop having their people work as long.

I can see Neil leaving after TLOU2.

Sadly I have the same feeling..

I got nothing but respect for Bruce's decision. I just hope he's mentally happy wherever he lands next. But holy shit if Neil is next ☹️ I can't even.

Thank you Bruce for having a part in creating my favorite video game of all time. Uncharted 4.

Definitely will be missed. Tlou is one of my favorites games and possibly the best game ever. Seeing where he started and where he ended up at gives me hope that ND has been nurturing young talent that now can be there new straley's of this coming up generation.

Fuck!!!!

He will truly be missed, was game director on their best 3 games. After reading Jason's book this isn't a massive surprise tho.

Love ya Bruce, can't wait to see what you do next.

Best of luck to him! Hell of a guy!

Guess he woke up one day and thought "yeah people like these games but I guess 100 hour works weeks are getting a bit much the 5th time around".

Hopefully he goes somewhere smaller, can live a life, and make some games for us to play still.

This is projecting, obviously, but, remember that bit, "if you work for a living, why do you kill yourself working?" I've been thinking about this a lot and the basic loop of working your ass off while you are still a fully functional human only to "retire" and do nothing with your broke down body. Anyways, like, I said, best of luck to Bruce, hope he has a dope life outside the "kennel".

Fuck, the last good director of Naughty Dog has left... ND no longer one of my top studios

Bet he didn't like ND's new approach to games turning them more into interactive movies with gameplay last focus

ND used to be gameplay first since Crash to Jak

Remember to thank your local junior for serving up only the hottest of takes 🔥🔥🔥

When you end up needing to a work minimum of 80 hours across 7 days a week, this is the only sane outcome.

Best of luck to Bruce and hope he will land on better working conditions.

Such a badass moment. Best e3 demo ever!

This is very sad :(. Naughty Dog breeds talent though. I'm excited to see what Bruce does in the future, but I'm also excited to see what new people bring to the table. If Lost Legacy is anything to go by, Naughty Dog will still be considered the greatest for years to come.

Sad to see him go and wish him the best of luck in whatever he decides to do. Hopefully he stays in the video game industry and if so I'll support his next project wherever it may be.

I'd say I'm surprised but then you don't take a year long sabbatical and just come back. You're building up the courage to leave and clearing your head to make sure it's the right choice. God speed Straley.

Aww man, this sucks... :-(
Wish you the best of luck though, Bruce! Thanks for all of your incredible work throughout the years - Can't wait to see what you do next!

This boss is going out with 3 GOTY games under his belt. The man can pretty much do whatever he wants now.
Thanks for all the hard work Straley

Just read Press Sneak Fucks book.

What a brutal grind going from TLOU crunch right into Uncharted 4 crunch. I guess he wanted to ship Lost Legacy before fully bowing out. But we knew this was coming, right? It was in the book that he was going to leave.

He had nothing to do with Lost Legacy.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, do you. He was at the helm of ND's latest and best productions.
