That sucks, Solo. This too shall pass.

Sorry meta.
Given our center situation, Desjardins has a real good chance of making the team, too.

New player numbers for the Rangers:
David Desharnais - 51
Ondrej Pavelec - 31
Nick Holden - 55 (booted out of his old number by Shatty)

What a crew we've assembled.

Thanks guys. Nothing scandalous like she was cheating or anything. She did the breaking up but it's quasi mutual, if that makes any sense? One of those things that is simultaneously surprising and yet not surprising at all.

Basically it amounts to our relationship changing a lot. The first 1.5 years it was all hot and heavy, and over the past 1.5 years it's kind of morphed into more of a platonic friends-with-benefits thing. Like, we'll still kiss and have sex, but it's not like it was when we couldn't keep our hands off each other. To quote Michel Therrien, we "lost da passion". I guess it is something I've been acutely aware of and bothered by, but we love each other so much and are so compatible in every other way that I guess we both willfully turned a blind eye to it. She finally decided it wasn't how she wanted to live the rest of her life. And if I'm being honest with myself, I don't find myself attracted to her strongly in the romantic way I used to.

It still hurts like hell though. We've lived together for 2.5 years, we have 2 dogs together, and I'd always pictured marrying her. So in one fell swoop I'm losing my girlfriend, my best friend, and my family (as the dogs will both go with her). And starting over again at 34 isn't something I pictured for myself.

Ouch. That does sting. Not sure what to tell you. I figure physical passion/excitement decreasing is just part of most long-term relationships. Depends what you want to prioritize and what you think a relationship should be like, though. Sucks that you click in every other way, though.

So now rumors are that My Liege may not pass his camp physical and might retire?

Bobby Mac throwing it out there.

His house is also for sale?

Oh man, I hope he's feeling alright. It would be terrible if his life post-NHL is negatively affected by all these head injuries.

As much as it would suck to see MacArthur retire, this would basically give us Landeskog money.

Shamelessly stolen from Twitter.

It's pretty much going to be David Desharnais, Andrew Desjardins, Lias Andersson, and Boo Nieves competing for the 3rd and 4th center positions.

It's...a problem.
Hopefully its a massive problem and I can buy cheaper Rangers tickets this year like I have been with the Mets

Solo, the transition you describe sounds kinda typical but if it really has become platonic then I can understand. Not gonna sugarcoat. That does suck when you lose such a huge part of your life.

Positive platitudes that mean nothing to you while still recovering but are nevertheless true:
New doors will open. New opportunities. etc

So Duchene didn't show up to the team charity golf tournament, and his agent hasn't said whether he'll show up at camp tomorrow or not.

Basically, he'll be a Blue Jacket in a week.

Sorry to hear about your breakup, Solo. Today, we're all solo.

Haha thanks man.

All true, and I know in 6 months I'll feel all good again, and hopefully the next relationship is built to last.

It's these next few weeks and months that are going to be hellish and depressing.

Was excited to jump back into the thread and mutter about the Flyers rookie game before forgetting to post again for another year or two, but jeez, I'm sorry Solo. Seems like you're in a pretty solid place, but it really sucks. Wishing you the best.

This would be nice, assuming Colorado's leverage has diminished.

Sakic has yet to show he's intimidated so I doubt it. Also Duchene still hasn't asked for a trade, and being passive aggressive about it will more likely mean he sits out the year instead of being traded for nothing at this rate.

And trading him for scraps helps so much, not only with gifting another team a 1c but also showing our roster that all it takes to get your way is being passive aggressive.
There's a big difference between trading him for scraps and asking for this

Know they have tried. Avs want big return: 1st rounder, quality young defenseman, proven NHLer and top prospect. Murray? Jenner?

No one will pay that, and the longer Sakic refuses to budge on that, and the more Duchene holds out, the more his value diminishes and eventually scraps will be all that's left for Sakic.

You seem to think that Duchene walking at the end of his contract is less preferable than trading him for less than he's worth when he hasn't asked for a trade to begin with. Setting the example for the rest of our young roster that you can throw a hissy and not man up and be responsible for yourself is a great way to fuck this franchise up even more.

Also that trade criteria you're claiming as fact was never actually confirmed by anyone who'd know for sure.

Duchene sitting out an entire season when he clearly wants out, like his comments about playing for other teams, sitting out the golf tournament, missing training camp are as damning as a trade request, if anything he's setting a worse example for younger players on that team, and Sakic's various ridiculous trade demands and stubbornness has been reported by multiple people with good reputations. I get not wanting to lose him for nothing, but pretending like how Sakic has handled this is good for Duchene or the team is naive.

I couldn't give a shit less what's good for Duchene's career after he admitted he gave up last season, especially if he is actually trying to force a trade now without asking for one like a coward. If you want to base your optics in this situation off of rumors that's your call but there's way more to this situation than Sakic making mistakes that you desperately try to rake him over the coals for. Duchene can act like a whiny baby and sit if he's not going to formally request a trade. I'd take that a thousand times as a fan of this franchise than Sakic bending to this game and setting a fucked up precedent for the rest of the team.

And also none of this shit he has missed is mandatory attendance.

So you're worried about the example Duchene is setting for younger players, but don't care the example management sets for the team if a player wants out? Letting him twist in the weeds for months and endure all this speculation sets a great example for that team. Also I will base a lot more off reputable reporters reporting than wishful Av's fans thinking. Not going to the team golf tournament isn't mandatory but it's a very particular absence, and I'm pretty sure training camp is mandatory.
