Destiny 2 |OT2| Leviathan Wakes (Spoiler Tag ALL Raid Discussion)

These impressions don't make me excited to try raids without a mic.

The raid is, no joke, borderline impossible without a mic, moreso than any other one they've done.

Spoiler for the raid:
There are mechanics for two separate encounters that require players to give information that other players cannot see.

Also truth
Phew, THANK Y'ALL. Outside of the last boss which looks ok, this raid is a huge letdown imo. Yeah, cool on the art department at Bungie and for giving us a raid that
isn't "omg save the world from a evil super powered boss"
but this is such a weird foot to start D2 off on. Like I can only imagine if you are new to this series and this is your first experience with a Destiny raid.

It also boggles my mind that the Cabal raid is some
weird sidestep to the cabal empire
and I still feel like I don't know much about them, nothing on the level of sword logic, throne worlds, time confluxes, etc.

Yeah, we quit at the
Gardens
too.
Hadn't gotten frustrated yet,
but I can see where it comes from. Definitely gonna be the worst part of the raid on replays.

I never played Wrath of the Machine. :( But VoG and oddly enough Crota are my favorites. Never really cared for King's Fall.

Oh man OT2 already, I'm only like 235 on my first character, I'm off for the next two days so hopefully can put some real time into it.

I didn't stick around much after finishing the story in D1 because I was so disappointed in what we got. I always wanted to come back after the expansions but never did, thankfully D2 as a whole is a much more enjoyable experience and game than the first out of the gate.

This is unquestionably false.

What?, my team had to wipe @
Pleasure Gardens to refill Heavy 2-3 times, they would just not drop enough from those Tamer Cabals, had to refill.

Hell, when you're doing that part, ammo becomes hella scarce
Can't kill dogs, trash dogs don't drop ammo, then the cabals you could burn and kill by Prism guys, guess what?, They died near a dog path or out so far, that reaching the ammo isn't worth the trouble

Every time you run back to escape room, you should have ammo boxes drop at least 1-2 boxes of each type for each player
Is that so much to ask?

I'd be in the dick
Played up to the
Pleasure Gardens
tonight. We have the encounter down but just couldn't get the execution right. That part is very annoying and kills the pace but I really liked the previous segments. I do think this is a weird one for the first raid in D2.

Loving the raid so far, the amount of communication needed is awesome. This shit is going to be a riot on GG though.

Well, some things that bother me:

1) The loot seems terrible. I mean, again, I haven't done the final boss yet but I haven't gotten anything yet. Just shaders and tokens. And literally nothing out of one of the chests, which could be a bug of course.

2) I was hoping for more story elements to the raid. I wanted there to be be legitimate in-game build-up to the raid but it feels disconnected from the main game again. I really expected improvement there

Ugh Jesus. Reading spoilers on the raid and it sounds like a nightmare. I guess I'll just YouTube it.

Really disappointed. I thought maybe with the guided games they'd make it less mechanical but from the sounds of it it's worse than ever.

I agree with the poster on the last page. Just give me something with an epic battle and not all these ridiculous mechanics that I'll no doubt mess up a hundred times before I get right. Raids just aren't for me I guess.

So without spoilers how difficult is the raid compared to WotM? I'm horrible with video games so if it's more demanding than WotM I'll probably just youtube it :(

I don't mind number 2 but the loot is a serious issue, especially for a something that is designed to escalate in difficulty (From PL 260 to PL 280) up until the final boss. Very strange choice to make the loot this rare of a drop.
Raids just aren't for me I guess.
Pretty much.

The mechanics are what set Raids apart from Strikes/Nightfalls.

Dropping in to echo the opinions of SneakersSO, The Driver, and Wallach on the raid.

This raid already killed my group. It will be a miracle if they survive until October now.

Most of them don't want more mechanics and puzzles. They thought with the Cabal being portrayed as more of a brute force type of enemy, this raid would lean in that direction, but that's not the case.

For our group total tonight we probably had over 60 legendary engrams in the raid. The kicker? Only like 5 were actual raid gear.

The loot needs a retooling. Plus nothing like opening a chest and getting 500 glimmer. Raised the salt meter a tad.

Man, reading discussions about Crucible on Reddit is heart-wrenching... Seemingly 80% of people hate it. I, on the other hand, really enjoy it, and have had zero lag-issues. Am I just crazy, though?

I hate it. I had so much fun in destiny 1 crucible.

They are trying to make it more competitive, fine, have those modes but have the larger team conquest too.

I loved doing Crota with you, poker and OddOne.

I stand by it if there is no cheese found this raid will be about impossible with pugs. You always need a mic and this raid will not be doable solo

Jason Kidd murdered my dog in cold blood!
Well the raid sure is ... interesting. I honestly may never run it again after beating it.

Are raids in general in all games heavy on weird mechanics like Destiny is? I mean in my head I imagine like a giant boss where you need so many people because it has 2 weak points you have to shoot simultaneously and then another group has to go in and attack while he's stunned or whatever.

Not weird shit like Destiny seems to do.

Yes in fact some of the mechanics in Destiny raids are taken from WOW raids. Everquest did stuff like that too.

Yeah, same buddy. You're going PC this time around, right? :( OddOne has vanished and Poker has even less time to play than I do. It's a legitimate miracle that I actually got raid-ready on day 1 for this one, I've never managed that before. :lol

Hell,
the Bathers just fucking melted under Merciless. Love that gun.

I love it, hated being one-shot all the time so this type of PVP appeals to me far more (I do wayyy better at this too).

Snipes and Shotguns made me cringe in D1, good to see them relegated a bit, but they still have their place for sure.

This raid, the kinda boring exotics, ugly legendary armor sets, and most of the good purple guns being snooze fest vanguard weapons that play boring, look it to boot, and that everyone has and use in PVE AND PVP are legit killing my will to play this. Bungie has the content this time and the foundation is still solid as always but the execution continues to lack.

Like it's basically all on ToO at this point to deliver some kind of spark to this game for me because I doubt the PL hamster wheel chase will keep me for much longer. That DLC coming in December is gonna need to deliver biggggg time. Like I wanna raid that has me and my goons ride on the back of a Vex Mind into battle against other jumbo Vex while the Stranger's MIA teleports us all throughout the solar system or some shit. Through in the Queen and her weird ass brother providing aerial support to our Godzilla smackdowns for good measure.

Right now I rather bash my head against Pre-Portal fix Atheon and Going Blind, cause tge game didn't think I got cleansed

That feels refreshing after touching and doing 3rd encounter 3+ hours, yet fail to uncertainties not in our control

Just like other Raids, mistakes happen, you learn to overcome them by repetition and working out the logistics
When the boss or mechanics are not properly coded and things are out of your control, then it hurts the overall experience

Seriously you HAVE THE CABAL as our Raid now

Dudes that are Roman Military-esque
Tanks, Soldiers at Arms, just Brute Force and we get fucking trolled with
Cabal Caligula Palace fun time

The mechanics are what set Raids apart from Strikes/Nightfalls.

Sure, but you can't deny the continual push further in that direction. I don't think people want zero mechanics, but the shit is just becoming convoluted for the sake of being difficult now.

Yikes. I wish somebody would rethink this stuff and try and make it more fun instead of frustrating (for more casual players like me at least).
Or, you know, not? Because there is content for more casual players already and Raids are something special that a lot of people really enjoy.

The point he was making, I think, is that guided games will be rough cos you can't guarantee that all players have mics.

Ah I see: but really though...it should be a prerequisite even in GG I think...there's just no way to do a Destiny raid without mics with randoms (unless all have confirmed done it before, but even then...coordinating would be a nightmare).

We are putting mics are mandatory on our GG synopsis: I suggest most clans would want that surely (even for NF in some cases).

You actually can't queue for Guided Games unless you have a mic connected, I think. At least it is required to do Guided Games for the Nightfall as a seeker.

This raid felt way too cheap/buggy at many points to me. No thanks. I appreciate raids when the mechanics are solid and feel fair, but Leviathan just had too much wonkiness/unpredictability from things that should be predictable (physics for a main example).

Overall, I enjoyed the raid, the amount of coordination and communication has been great. We got to the final boss and just got fucking tired because he has an endless health pool.

There are two things that I hate about it though....
1. Loot drops: One actual raid gear pulse rifle that is a worst version of my nightshade.
2. Pleasure gardens: This held up our team for most of the day. By far the worst section I've seen in any raid period.

PS. Guided Games will be FUCKING GLORIOUS. The salt will be immense.

Haven’t played Leviathan yet and likely won’t be able to until next week because real life etc getting in the way. Was more speaking in general about Raids, as was the post I quoted.

Fake news. I queued for the NF last night without a mic. Even if it was a requirement it wouldn't guarantee someone actually uses the mic. Or speaks your language.

Yeah Raid Gear is trash, why should I chase Raid Gear?

I got Gauntlets, nothing special About them

No bonus, no extra oomph to really make you go yeah I want that set

At least VoG and the others offered perks that at least were benefits
Am I missing something?
