Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will feature BRAND NEW POKEMON

Interesting opening animation for those 2, one looks like it sets up a wall ("aurora veil" on entry?!) and the other does damage (maybe shatters walls like that on entry), if thats correct maybe Guzzlord is playable now with that kind of support!

Finally, something interesting about these games.

Granted, the new Ultra Beasts aren't exactly blowing me away. I do like how weird Assembly looks.

I wonder if Necrozma is like (SM spoilers)
Nebby's parent or something.

There's a theory going around that Necrozma could be a like parasite since it's Moon Pokédex entry states;

"Light is apparently the source of its energy. It has an extraordinarily vicious disposition and is constantly firing off laser beams."

And considering how Necrozma seems to be taking over Solgaleo/Lunala does suggest that.

I am going to treat Game Freak like I treated the Army when it comes to info meaning if I'm staring at a Psyduck I'm not saying it's a Psyduck until Game Freak says it's a Psyduck.

Why?

Zyguarde and Pokémon Z

Zyguarde new form and the actual roll Zyguarde actually played in Sun/Moon.

It's the whole fool me once thing.

I treated this Necrozma form from when they first showed it months ago like it's going to be a whole other Zyguarde and Pokémon Z situation. As for the new areas, I took that bit of info that there may be more areas besides what you mentioned/ we've seen but we just need to wait until we seen more.

Good point, we all got fooled with "Pokémon Z" and "Pokémon Grey", plus no-one could have predicted that we would get new Pokémon in a middle of a generation though Masuda did state that during the announcement of Ultra Sun and Moon but folks, myself included took that to mean Necrozma new form and a possible revamped Pokédex.

I can't say I like UB Burst, because fuck clowns. Game Freak is, like, the #2 Japanese company for unnecessary clowns, right after Level 5.

But I like the UBs in general just because the designs are so weird and pushed, sometimes veering into SMT design territory. And it nicely mimics how pushed their stats are.

Yeah, I think UBs gave them a little more license to add things, but I could also see them potentially adding new event Pokemon. Just because so far Gen 7 has the fewest number of event Pokemon ever.

If they're adding all new Pokemon, I think new Alolan forms are pretty much guaranteed, though.

If there were going to be new Alolan forms, it feels weird that they wouldn't say anything two months out from release. I can understand them keeping quiet about UBs.

Really wish the Necrozma formes looked less like Solgaleo and Lunala with Necrozma parts hanging off.

Compare with Kyurem Black and White, which at least look like horrific amalgamations.

While I agree, the whole information rollout on US/UM has been rather confusing, to say the least. So nothing would really surprise me, at this point.

Don't hate to gloat, so I'll gladly go on and say people who have been swearing up and down for years that new Pokemon can't be introduced mid gen were always destined to be wrong.

They've been going against franchise established patterns for years now. This was just another one for the books and anybody who didn't see it coming were too close minded.

Timing, my theory is that they want to hold back the new Alolan form so they can tied them with the animé like they did with Lycanroc Dusk form.

I also have a theory that it will be the gen 2 Pokémon that will be getting the Alolan form to tie in with the release of Gold and Silver on 3DS virtual console.

It's ironic how Zygarde gets two formes and a bigger lore but yet doesn't get a game whereas Necrozma is getting a game but his form leaves a lot to be desired and really meh compare to Kyurem Black/White form.

I wonder if Necrozma actually has another form that they are keeping a secret as there is that menacing eyes on the box art.

Bingo! Except my theory is different. There may be new Alolan forms and even new Pokémon and maybe even Mega's (I wish) but the reason they're not blowing their load so quickly is because they don't have a whole new dex worth to show off. Hell, we may only get a few Pokémon lines that can be covered in one 2 minute video.

The fact that there was a whole video just for the Lycanroc form makes me think this is the case.

Overall, there's not that much to show, so they're having to be conservative with the information drip.

Okay, it seems at one point you can spot Mienfoo who wasn't in the Alola Dex in S/M.

I like that because I felt the Alola Dex was kind of underwhelming...I mean I only use New Pokemon anyway, but variety is nice. Plus that hopefully means badass new S/M style PokeDex entries.

Yup.
I've never gotten to play a third version, and part of what makes it feel special is how you start finding Pokemon that weren't there in places you're familiar with. So that, plus Rockruff's number being different hopefully means there's a significant shakeup to the Alola Dex for this game. And hopefully new Alolan forms for some Gen 2 Pokemon.

If there were new Alolan Pokemon, and they were Gen 2 ones there couldn't be that many to show assuming they follow the same rules the Gen 1 ones did where they only gave variants to lines with no cross-gen or mega evolutions.

Pokemon don't exist alongside normal animals.

Yeah they do! There's a picture of an actual pigeon next to a Grimer in one of the 1st gen TCG illustrations, and are you really gonna go ahead and try to tell me that's not canon?

I'm still waiting for Stars... and believing Stars is a thing...

But Assembly is such a weird concept design-wise, and that concept suggests a defensive Pokèmon, which is up my alley. I'm sold. I'm not caving on USUM so soon after SuMo, but I'm glad they're doing more to sell the game than just Z-Moves.

Good defensive-oriented Pokemon feel like such a rarity these days. Meanwhile we're drowning in crazy offensive threats. For every Toxapex, there are like 50 Tapu Kokos.

They need to give me a real reason to buy this. I completed the pokedex in Moon. It seems to be the same game minus a few minor tweaks.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
btw each of Assembly's "bricks" are actually living and have their own eyes

methinks its Ghost/Rock or Ghost/Steel

I would say they aren't canon, yes. The anime and TCG aren't really handled by GameFreak. The games are the actual canon. With that said, I totally forgot about stuff like Indian Elephants being referenced in Gastly's Pokedex entry and the like.

Man, my interest in these games are still at zero - and I'm a huge Pokemon fan who's never skipped a game.

I hope we get a huge information blowout soon, because I'm not feeling it so far, even with two new UBs.

Yeah, these new UBs aren't really doing it for me either, tho the firework/clown thing is kind of cute

Something like two - four new Alolan forms might win me over if they're keeping those under wraps for now, but I think I'll end up skipping these entries otherwise

I feel the same way. I adore Pokemon and really want to be excited for these games, but I just cant bring myself to feel excited about these games. I just don't feel interested at all. There's still over 2 months until the game is released though, so I'm sure they'll reveal some more cool things that will hopefully change my mind.

I remember being skeptical over Ultra Beasts but now I love them, Kartana particularly is one of my new favourite Pokemon.

Although Assembly might actually dethrone it as my fav UB, omg I love it.

It's literally one new legendary per version.
Like that's cool and all but hardly elevates these above regular third versions (or, with how little of worth they've shown, elevates them to the level of past third versions lol).

Yeah; while I'll still buy them I don't really have any urge to play them straight away. I still haven't finished with Sun & Moon yet with the UB quest so it's not like I'm desperate for something new.

What I'm most interested in is the world changes with the new areas and hopefully some more variety with the Pokemon you encounter, particularly late-game. The endless stream of Raticate and Gumshoos etc was a bore.

So actually only new ultra beasts so far and only 2?
Got it.

I mean, if we're going that way older third gens only added forms, more than one if generous.

I still can't stand the Ultra Beast designs. I just find them garish and overdone. I know they're supposed to be beings from another dimension, but fundamentally I never wanted that in my Pokemon games to begin with, it just feels totally at odds with the series' aesthetic to this point.

Yeah, walls just can't function well anymore, especially if they don't have recover. Rest is useless as the bruisers just do too much damage, and sleep talk is too random and loses you a precious move slot.
