Friday the 13th: The Game - Content Road Map and Single Player Update

Xbox One patches

I know we have been pretty quiet in terms of the Xbox not getting patches or being delayed but it is really because there happens to be no good answer we can give the community that fixes the problem with delays. The reality is that, as of right now, the cert process on Xbox takes the longest of the platforms and if something happens it starts the process over again.

Single player

Let’s talk about single player. Currently we are behind on the Summer date. There are number of reasons why this is, but it all boils down to making sure we are not releasing new content while still having issues with the core game. There were a number of issues we needed to address with the games stability prior to committing additional resources to making Single Player happen. We now feel we have turned that corner and have doubled down on Single Player to try and catch up.

We have hired additional people, are working with contractors and even diverted others working on other tasks to help. We have also decided to take a look at Single Player and we are breaking it into a number of different experiences that can be released independent of one another. This way as soon as one thing is done we can launch it without having to wait on everything else.

Press X to Jason if old

Transparency or not, the single player delay is incredibly disappointing. Summer they said, we're suppose to have offline bots and single player by now. Oh, but they'll happily sell us DLC clothing so they make more money. No doubt the new counselors will cost money too.

Have they fixed the issue when Jason does not get kill credit when some losers disconnect after being caught yet? Was my main problem with the game when I left.

So what is going to be free? I mean, only that clothing and the emote pack have it specified, and the single player was already in the price. But the maps? Counselors? Different Jasons?

And no dates of course. Pretty disappointed with this game and pretty sure I am not the only one because I see more people coming back to DBD.

I think they said the maps will be free. New Jasons and Counselors will be unlocked through either grinding or microtransactions, IIRC

Wow. Looking at that map, I didn't realize how far down the list single player stuff was. Does this mean we won't see it until this time next year?

I think they're both worth owning as they're different enough to provide different tastes from the genre, but I personally prefer F13's atmosphere and gameplay.

But it's worth noting, that F13 has a bunch of issues when it comes to glitches and patch issues. Plus Gun Media and Illfonic murdered the family of one GAF user so it's up to you whether you want that on your conscience.

Honestly, I think your best bet is to look up gameplay videos and see which might better fit your style.

Like I said in the OT:

Man this roadmap sounds so promising. Too bad this game seems to be more dead and abandoned as Battleborn on PS4.

And if you find a game, in 90% of all cases it's the scum of the earth that plays in it.
Glitcher, bug user, people who doesn't care about any teamwork or little children. Almost every single game.

It's fascinating, somehow Friday the 13th has become the gutter of gaming.

The devs have done a number of things poorly:

Took ages to fix the match-making issues that plagued launch

Have failed to deliver any decent content updates in 4 months aside from one clothing pack and NES Jason skin.

Locked some backers out of buying the Savini skin, and took a hard stance on it, then released it "accidentally" on XBL and PSN temporarily, though strangely it had it's own listing details. Odd that.

The dev team tried to join and moderate their own game's Reddit forum.

Instead of addressing glitches on maps, they started banning people for using glitches, which in a non-competitive non-e-sport game, sits uncomfortably with me. Then they started banning abusive language - which again depends on a case by case basis - not hugely a fan of it when there's a mute button.

Completely mishandled team-killing and griefing, they first gave it a huge XP penalty, then removed TKing completely, letting griefers block entrances, steal objective items etc. and still the biggest problem, counsellors helping Jason, remains unresolved, and now you can't fight back. There are obvious ways to combat this which I have posted frequently in the community, letting players go incognito, report, vote to kick etc. but the devs have their fingers in their ears.

We now have a content map: weather, emotes and a new map is welcome. Smaller maps were a bit of a waste of time. But that 1984 Spring Break pack has been advertised for weeks and weeks... when the fuck is it coming?

Crucially, the game in it's base state needed a lot of scrubbing up, in terms of improving counselor movement (vaulting, rolling), adding more map content, diversifying win conditions for counselors. Instead, the devs have actively made many of the aspects that did work worse. I haven't touched it in months but until they fix the things they've broken I won't be.

Looks like a lot of content supposedly due before Halloween.

Hopefully they're able to fix core problems of the game without having to drop single player at some future time.

This has to be one of the biggest disappointments of all time. So much talent attached to....this. I was a strong believer that the game was going to get fixed at one point, played on Xbox since day one. But they are working on dlc instead of fixing the game? It's still largely broken on Xbox and we've had about 5 patches or so already. I understand that with MS patches take time however, this just looks bad. I'm sorry but I've moved on. There are just too many games today to sit and wait around for something that may never get fixed while the developer responds with bikinis and exclsuive content for the physical version.

Dead By Daylight is fun as heck. I'm like 80 hours deep now. Bought it back in August during the humble bundle. It and all the DLC is 50% off right now, and they just released Leatherface as a new killer.

I've heard lots of negative noise about Ft13 but literally picked up dead by Daylight after this free weekend, it's been amazing. Never had any interest til i tried it.

You still have it free on steam for a few hours btw

Thanks, I was worried about the maps since my Halo 3 days.

They have already released 3 Maps, they are Small Versions of the main 3 and they were free in an update, they have also given away a free Jason NES Skin to all users and Free Counselor clothes as well. They are very good so far with giving for their mistakes.

Just like with ARK back when they introduced a paid DLC while the base game was far from ready: make the game work properly. If that happens, add more content. AC: Unity was a broken mess at start but Ubisoft sucked it up, made the upcoming DLC free, cancelled the others, refunded the pass owners and spent months making the game playable. It is pretty solid nowadays. Until the core elements of the game aren't working fine (the Xbox One version, the one I own, is an unholy mess) I don't really care about the rest.

Dead By Daylight is indeed worth getting. At least the developers there are addressing the problems and readjusting the ways that benefit both survivors and killers while adding new content.

Friday the 13th took too long to address its problems and when they did, it was too late and subpar. Factor in no new content has yet to emerge other than costumes and once was a game that had 10,000 plus concurrent players now barely goes over 2,000.

A shame really.

Plus Gun Media and Illfonic murdered the family of one GAF user so it's up to you whether you want that on your conscience.

Also, huh? I'm hoping you have some proof of what you are saying.

Wait what
I'm assuming he's referring to an unnamed poster who hates on F13 all the time?

OT: I like the transparency with the content map but the long delay of SP mode is telling.

Honestly, I don't think their will be much of a community by Halloween or Christmas. Too many games coming that I'm sure people will choose over a game that has no new content and still has multiple issue such as host dropping, rage quitters, people helping Jason, ect.

Nah, I disagree, the free content you mention is pretty barebones IMO, especially for an online game. A NES skin which is basically a change of colour from another skin and the music theme, the same 3 maps but a bit different and more clothes that add basically nothing to the core game. This would have been great if they had released it sooner, but this is all we got after four months from launch day. In DBD there were already at least the nurse and Myers, each with completely different mechanics and new maps, perks and survivors. And soon after that, they released the hag in December, although Myers and the latter were paid DLC, the base game costs much less already.

I will always recommend DBD over this one. Now that the developers have ironed out many of the issues (because I reckon DBD was not in a great spot months ago), it is a much more compelling experience. My perks actually matter, make the game more dynamic and, generally, it relies more on skill than on luck. If I had to choose, I would say F13 is my disappointment of the year.

Been trying to find a game for two hours. When I finally do find one, the host quits as soon as Jason kills them.

I'm finding it hard to grasp why many people want a single player mode. I know it was promised, and I know they're going to release it, but the game wasn't made to be a single player experience. It was built around the idea of multiplayer. I don't believe it's going to be much more than killing bots within certain time frames and other conditions sort of like Hitman. I just don't want people getting too hyped up for this as I don't think it's going to be some story driven narrative title and this franchise can't handle another outburst from the consumers.

I'm much, much, much more interested in the multiplayer content but first they absolutely must fix combat. It's nearly impossible to save a grabbed counselor now. They've identified this as an issue and promised a fix, but it's game breaking to me in this state.

100% agree with this. A single player mode for this game seems so unappealing, as all the fun is from playing against actual real hoomans. I think this game is a blast and I can't wait for more content to come out. Plus, it's only $40, which is about right IMO.

I don't expect the single player to be anything special, just like R6:Siege single player I bet. (Offline with bots, no story)

I feel sorry for these guys. Small team and have always been hit with problems such as launch issues and bugs. I bought the game right around the time NES Jason came out and I feel like I've definitely gotten my money's worth. The game is fun and a challenge to play when up against smart players. They seem to be in a rough spot with people demanding more content and those screaming about adding new content when the game should be fixed. Bug fixing should always be a priority but I don't see why people get so upset when they add things. I believe their post about rain coming to the game addressed the bug fixing and content.

I hope the single player allows moments/events that aren't possible with people or wouldn't make since. Sex between counselors in particular. I believe they talked about it during the kickstarter but obviously it doesn't make sense with human players and what benefit it could do. Making challenges would be the best way to go for something like that (being sneaky and not making noise to catch them)

And Jack Frost.

I agree with this in a sense that single player content for a multiplayer-centric game seems to do very little for the game in terms of audience when they are on the decline.

Virtual cabin i think was something before the game was released where backers could hang out and check progress of the game, i think, any backers know?

It was sort of a virtual museum, but it cost 15 dollars if memory serves, backer or not. It had some neat little secrets but I didn’t buy it. At different intervals they would update the content. The video below has a run through of it.

I loved, and I mean absolutely loved, Friday the 13th when it first came out on steam. I played it nonstop and have near 100 hours played in it despite being a very flawed game and development history.

Lately, I've been liking the increased visibility and this road map instill a bit more confidence in me. I really hope the developers can pull this game around and deliver both a more polished experience and additional content because I really think this game could grow.

Like people mentioned, this game has 10k concurrent players at one point, but the lack of updates and more importantly bug/balance fixes has scared most players away. Myself included. I did start up a game when the small maps came out, but embarrassingly, one of the small variants had awful performance issues while the rest of the maps played fine. I also don't like how they pulled the camera back (Or increased the fov) for survivors. It seems like you can see everything now.
