Ahh i see. I always remember that Crossfire is damn popular in chinese internet cafe there. It is like the go to play fps. I do remember that recently, Overwatch and CS:Go is growing in popularity too recently.

I saw a big CS:Go billboard on a bus stop (Beijing) recently - I think it was for some sort of official event/tournament. Had to do a double-take lol

Not sure on that lol. But i do know that Arena of Valor is actually pushing really strong world wide nowadays.

They just had 538k USD pool money in Indonesia lol.

After the Sony TGS conference I am convinced that the Switch's future as a serious console competitor in the third party space in Japan is gone. It will mostly get portable tier support from the big JP pubs, while console titles will remain PS4/PC.

Those VR games stealing our developers.

Can't say i disagree but there is still a chance for things to change (until next TGS).

I know it's been mentioned that it was in Sony conference, but I've seen this posted a couple of times before now too. Any reason it's such a big deal? Surely Switch owners are the userbase Gust has to try and get on board with this game since PS4/Vita owners either will or won't be on board with it at this point, regardless of 5 seconds of footage.

That hasn't historically been the case though. Games tied to one brand tend to stick with that brand for promotion even if they go multiplatform.

Y'all will get Yokai Watch Just Dance 2 and you will like it

That would actually be a good idea if it included all the songs (anime + games and all). Still can't believe the original had like 10 songs in total.

But well... too late for that now, that boat has sailed.

Yeah, mixing trackers and assuming the magnitude of digital sales, it is around 400k.

Well, I mean you can also entirely dismiss the legs of a game and pretend to know its LTD number while not checking if you think that's fine.

And I didn't mix trackers, I only told you where each stand individually which is pretty straighforward
MC : 300k retail for 2016
Famitsu : 229k retail PSV+PS4 for 2016, PS3 was around 50k last time we saw it, which puts it ~280k retail, digital estimates were >20k for its first two months
Dengeki : We know the game had out of chart legs and sold at least an extra couple ten thousands copies on Vita (PS4 SKU most likely had a smaller bump) especially in spring thanks to the season 2 anime

Now thanks to the 3 you can indeed infer what its LTD is trending to currently, it's not below 300k and it's closer to 400k than around 300k, that's all.

The anime BD sales for season 2 saw a huge drop btw, the manga is still selling but it might already be past his prime overall as an IP so I don't think either the next 3DS game or the Koei Tecmo's game will have any kind of success.

Speaking of South Korea...

Nintendo used to do a lot of ads with high profile celebs. They were swimming in money back in the Wii and DS days lol.

Can you imagine how much money they paid to have Beyonce on their ads? >.< She probably only accepted the job because of her nephew Julez.

I wonder if Nintendo will make more ads with celebs. Seems like a huge waste of money but who knows.

You speak as if this an old foreign thing to do. They did this with Justin bieber and Mariah Carey for the 3DS. It's not that odd for them to do. They'll probably continue it with their latest portable.

Around 350k seems more accurate then. How much the PSV version was selling in Dengeki charts when it re-appeared? 1k units on a weekly basis?

I mean historically, we haven't really seen mainline Atelier games on Nintendo consoles so I suppose we don't really have much of a precedent for this :p

Seriously though, I just find it a bit odd that there's a fuss about five seconds of footage in a series that's barely changed over the past ten years. The fact that Nintendo deliver news and announcements through Nintendo Directs rather than the methods other third parties do seems explanation enough for this.

Fuss?

It was always noted as a tidbit.

They hired Jedward in the UK. That must have cost them at least £20.

Someone else was also touting it as "world-exclusive footage" and then you mentioned it too, hence fuss.

(Although I think it was Hero of Legend and he tends to get super excited about everything :p)

Oh yeah I did see that thread. I thought it was weird that it seemingly didn't appear at the Sony conference, but it did so it was a moot point.

Nintendo got four extra seconds of footage! Age of Sony is over!

No they just prominently focused on the 3DS in thier music video together which is currently at 138 million views on YouTube. That's a step further.

Product placement is a lot cheaper than hiring A-list celebs to star in your TVCM.

The point I was trying to make is that Nintendo used to hire popular celebs and it's been a while since they have done that (except for Japan as corrected by KtSlime).

It's not simply product placement. Nintendo 3DS flashes across the screenfor a few seconds for a vid. Bieber then picks up said 3DS and they sing together with said 3DS. That music video was a glorified ad.

Azelover

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.

Beyonce accepted because the game had the word "Heaven" in it, and she's all about God "Heaven" and angels from the sky.

Recently(kinda) Kyary Pamyu Pamyu made the New 3DS ads. It's something that works for the DS line. I don't remember celebrities on Wii ads as much. Each system has a different soul.

Robin Williams also advertised Ocarina of Time 3D.

800-1k on a weekly basis for at least 6 weeks straight in May-June.
You can check here if you want, it's a bit time consuming to do all the research work.

Cutoff for top 50 is around 800-1k usually as well, PS4 probably got some legs too but didn't appear as far as I checked.
