All tracks are affected by four seasons of weather: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The weather effects vary accordingly dependant on the season you are racing in.

The weather and time of day scenarios—given the real-time weather options—are practically limitless. Moreover, you can experience, for instance, a full night-to-dawn progression, you can decide to speed up time with the time progression option which will, in effect, decide how quickly the earth revolves around the sun. Sounds fanciful, but given the game uses GPS positioning, the angle of the sun now has a direct bearing on your racing experience.

For instance, in a scenario where it has rained through the night but the dawn comes clear and the morning sunny, those turns lying in the shade will take far longer to dry than turns that are directly warmed by the sun. Deciding, then, what lines to take, and which tyres you want to be on, becomes as crucial in Project CARS 2 as it does in real-world Motorsport.

LiveTrack 3.0 powers dynamic surface conditions that affect vehicle performance and handling, and evolves the track over the course of a race weekend. LiveTrack 3.0 is the culmination of a decade's worth of refinement by Slightly Mad Studios, and with Project CARS 2, the weather, combined with the surface you're racing on that will alter grip levels corner-by-corner, guarantees one of the most exhilarating experiences you've ever enjoyed. The angle of the sun at a particular time of year, the shade of trees and their foliage, the type of race surface, all of this will have a direct consequence on the feel and grip of your racing machine.

pc2raceengineeruiajp.png

Project CARS 2's Race Engineer Makes Tuning More User-Friendly for those who are not knowledgeable about the nuances of car tuning.. Upon selecting the race engineer option, you can choose between braking, down-force, suspension and gearing assistance. The system then asks questions about how you feel the car is behaving and what you think is wrong with it. Once you have answered the appropriate number of questions the Race Engineer will make suggestions. You can then select which options you would like to move forward with and the Race Engineer will tune your car accordingly.

Great OT well done.

Being a filthy casual I'm playing the PC version with an Xbox One controller.

Anyone else found the vibration to be really weedy? Even at 100% there's very little going on and it's not much use in helping you feel the grip.

Same. I also turned it up to 100 and didnt really feel much difference. The helmet cam on Oculus is pretty damn sweet though.

Nice OT!

Posting for new thread:

Anyone having issue saving tuning options on Xbox? Only seems to work if I use the automated system.

Anyone figure out if you can use the setup of someone from the leaderboards in time trials?

Subbed. Nice work GHG.

Having a game with so many dynamic features when it comes to track, time and weather conditions means there are sacrifices made that'll keep this game from being the graphics darling of the year, but it has it where it counts. Lots of tracks, options galore, great controller feel and some wonderful physics.

So far I'm really digging it. Has just been custom time trials for me as I get to know the tracks and cars, and that's just fine by me.

Nice OT GHG.

Continuing from the other thread:

@terrible and @grassy.
I didn't have any problem with the 720S when I tried it earlier with TCS and ABS off. Could throw it around, it slid pretty neutral without much spin if I overdid it, but I could also trailbrake it nicely. In Assetto Corsa it would be quite a bit harder to drive I'm sure. Maybe it was the track conditions? I tried it at BRNO, current day, dry weather, late afternoon. *shrugs*

Are you playing on PC or console? I was racing it in dry weather and what you described is far from my experience with the car. It must be some kind of bug I'd say.

Till the X drops is this PRO enabled/enhanced with any boost goodies? If so, will pre-load this on the spot.

From Ian Bell's post on GTPlanet:

Compared to standard PS4:

PS4 Pro has increased graphics fidelity across the board.
It runs at a higher resolution, currently it is 2560 X 1440 which is sometimes referred to as 2.5k which is upscaling beautifully to 4k.
It has:
Extra track detail meshes.
Increased level of detail on cars, track objects, grass etc.
Increased detail and resolution with shadow rendering.
Increased detail and resolution with reflection rendering.

And here's some Digital Foundry action.

Great job with the OP, GHG.

I just did my first lap at the Skyline Community Event. 34th. I think I will be having more tries. It's a fun combo, to be honest.

Nice GIF, GHG! "No Rewind", "no looking back"
Like the title too, it's very "GAF". Hope Mascot is happy about it too (and also hope he will even like the game xD).
Wonder how many fanboy comments you/we 'll get about the GT reviwer quote.

PC, but terrible should be on PC too.
I'll check it again tomorrow. Curious about this. I think GamerMuscle also mentioned something negative about this one car (but also other higher HP cars that felt off, while lower HP felt great in his opinion).

Just had time to run couple of laps in Monza with controller this afternoon.

Graphics on xbone S are atrocious. The shadows look terrible, color pallete extemelly cartonish (HDR on KS8000US), really disappointing with visuals so far.

Will play it on G920 later on tonight, check if any magical TV adjustement can help with cartoonish colors...

OMFG HOLY MOTHER OF MARY IN HEAVEN I CANT BELIEVE IT WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AAAAHHH
The car selection list is not too shabby. The track list looks even better :) Can't wait to drive Classic Spa in VR.

Seriously, watching and feeling the transition from a dry track in decent weather to a softly snowing ice-slicked one as you work your way through several laps is one of the greatest things ever. Its a smooth, evolving process that is absolutely game-changing.

Looking forward to experimenting with some of the other possible transitions and combinations.

Along the lines of the 'authentic' assists option, where you only get the assists the car actually has, it'd be cool to have a 'random authentic' setting for weather as well. Not that it isn't a beautiful thing to be able to set whatever options you want anywhere - it so is - but limiting those options to what would be reasonable to expect for a track would also be a nice touch. Unless its there already and I missed it.

20 min into my first career practice and the game freezes mid race. I hit the guide button (xbone) to record which eventually brings up the guide and pauses the race. when I resumed I started with my car a few seconds ahead of where i was prior to the action pausing. About 10 seconds later in the race it does it again. Screen freezes, audio continues, and i hear but dont see my car crash into a wall. Guide button doesnt work and a few seconds later im booted out of the game to the dash.

Buggy racing indeed.

I'm hungry for some 60fps NASCAR / stock car racing. How much fun is Project Cars 2 for this?

I have a PS4 Pro.

You might want to watch the Inside Sim Racing review for pCARS2 for nascar/indy opinions The AI was the issue this content didn't make it into a pCARS1 DLC, it couldn't do it. Seemingly it's still really bad at this. Also, there are no course wide cautions, which is pretty ridiculous for an official license game.

However, I can tell you that the 90% of the cars feel absolutely fantastic and the tire model is something really special. It's a buggy but very very fun game at the moment, with the content that you want, seemingly being the current low point.

Lovely OT, GHG.

Game looks waaaay better on PS4 pro than I was expecting, great texture work and trees.

Boy, do I suck though -_-

Mmmmhmm.

Just finished a three lap run with the Sesto Elemento - starting at 6am, x60 speed, heavy clouds transitioning to rolling fog, then fog with rain, and then fully clearing up sometime deep at night, with the puddles slowly receding until daybreak and the finish.

So fucking good.

This game is awesome.

But how does the ai still manage to gain 5+ seconds on their best lap after I quit a practice session? lol

Has anyone on XB1 encountered an issue with the game occasionally resetting custom controller settings and button assignments to default?

Also, I don't recall being prompted to download the day-one patch. Is V1.0.0.13.0842 current as of now?

Yeahhhh buddy! Great OT! Subbed!

As stated in the other thread, I’m a shlub playing this on pc w a controller but I’d like to add some of you so I have some friends up on my times to try to beat...when I eventually get a wheel...

Add me on steam: vacantseas

The catterham is uncontrollable with a pad. Apply any gas while turning and you spin out instantly.

Assists? Messed with throttle sensitivity (It's way to high by default)?

You can change camera in anyway you want with ctrl+k and then using numpad, 2468. You cando it with mouse too by holding left click.

I would be greatfull for any controller settings that can help for smooth consistent driving.

See above :)

How do you save edits to the HUD? I want to remove the track map and lap breakdown panels, and I select and toggle them off, but hitting save doesn't do anything.

Is this a bug?

I also can't seem to edit the time increments for practice and qualifying in the career mode. They're not in career settings, and before I'm on the track I only seem to have the option to skip practice or do the full 30 minutes.

So i kind of found my problem. Brake sensitivity all the way down and clutch sensitivity all the way up.

I tested he Lotus 98T and same problems with the shifting Tyler, you really have to wait until the indicator turns from N to the gear your shifting. It´s much slower than normal.

As for my downshifting woes, they are still present in some cars. I tested the 962 again and same problem.

Tested with auto clutch and voila, problem solved.

Then i went back to test the biting point on the clutch and it´s ridiculously deep and short.

For some reason auto clutch in this car, allows for the clutch to engage and disengage correctly, letting the revs match without the need of heel and toe.

I still don´t know what´s up, this is only in some H pattern cars, and it sucks but it´s best just to set auto clutch on otherwise it´s just weird and slow.

BTW, awesome OT!

Xbox version is practically unplayable with G920.
Check this videos:

https://youtu.be/CTivqZblL9w
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-p7g2TXwW52Y3lValNlUEduQWs/view
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO1hQmzqkKM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC2dOFq8IXQ

When parked at the boxes, the wheel turns automatically all the way to the left or right and stays there, full FFB power holding it there.

Any car has a jerking left or right on straight, even at low speeds, even setting the FFB to zero.

Not enough Xbox One visuals look like a X360 port, G920 implementation is beyond a disaster. Really bummed, was super excited for this game, now feeling I wasted my $60.

Folks are discussing it on official forums:
http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?51460-FFB-problems-all-over-again!

A moderator said on the forums that "It will be fixed, WMD had no chance to test the game on console" testing on consoles was outsourced to a 3rd party. Apparently the game was not ready to be released on consoles.

I have no words... :(
