Fire Emblem Warriors DLC packs announced

That Heroes poll ruined everything in my opinion. We should have never have had it.

I freaking love Fates, but yeah this game is not winning my heart at all. The DLC announcement made it worse.

Oh well. Maybe we'll get an upgrade later on with TMS characters!

Is Bride Lucina really that tantalizing for fans? I mean I love Lucina but some people here and in other places are going gaga over this.

I have no interest in bride Lucina unless she's marrying Robin. I don't like the weapon situation, because I used Robin mainly as a swordsman and being stuck to using magic sucks.

I was hoping Heroes would have made Hector and Reinhardt popular enough for them to make it. Oh well I started the series with Awakening so I can't be too mad here.

Wait a sec, reading this again.

They confirmed the OC twins would gain access to Lance/Axe upon promotion. First time reading I thought you said the OC twins were the exception.

"-When you promote you can get new skills and your stats increase. Characters might also get new weapons (Rowan has a lance in the picture)"

The part about gaining new weapons was just speculation from the writer of the summary (and most people who saw that picture), not from the actual Famitsu feature.

So the "lance" in the picture was also a mistake on his part? (personally I can't quite make out the details from the scan, it's too grainy).

Can I have a link to the interview where they confirmed no weapon/moveset change happens upon promotion?

Rowan does not have a Lance in the picture, it just looks like a Lance due to the bad scan quality, they released a HQ version of the screenshot and he's holding a sword. SF only assumed weapons change due to the picture, I recall it being discussed in the SF Forums, surprised the article hasn't been fixed

ND: By the way, can weapon types be changed for each character?

Usuda: No, you cannot change weapon types, so the twins will always wield swords.

No new weapons on class change kind of makes sense since they already gave Lissa/Elise/Sakura their promoted weapons. Still sucks though. RIP lance Chrom

In this case HW was different though, since the DLC added representation for a whole new game, something that doesn't seem to be happening this time.

This game has characters from other games in the base roster. At the end both few and hw will have 2 characters from the 3 games not featured at the end of the first dlc season.

With the obvious popularity holes this DLC has, I'm left wondering: does this game get a re-release (or sequel) with all the DLC incorporated and fresh support (like HWL) or does it just get two seasons of DLC?

I'd rather it were the second, and with no second system for the game jump to like HWL had, it makes the most sense. However, I suspect that the second season pass would inevitably do much worse and might not be worth the investment from KT. A re-release would likely kickstart sales, but where do you put it and how do you market it? A highly iterative FEW 2 in 2 years that drops n3DS support and features FE Switch characters and more past games? If this were to get in the way of Hyrule Warriors DX existing, I think I'd vote they not make FEW 2.

I'm really surprised they aren't covering all their bases with this game, but I guess they want to leave the future open.

I could see FEW coming out now, then Hyrule Warriors 2 next with BoTW stuff. Since the next FE comes out in 2018 it'll have some time to simmer with the audience and then they could do a FEW2

I'm not familiar with how fast they do musou games though

Yeah this announcement just guarantees I pass on the season pass, maybe if they add GBA/GC or wii characters then i'll be interested.

I don't get why people act like Hyrule Warriors was different.

I don't get why people compare Hyrule Warriors to this at all.

For Hyrule Warriors all they needed to guarantee was Link, Zelda and Ganondorf as the core selection. The rest of the roster was relatively open and they nailed a lot of the important single-title picks like Midna, Ghirahim, Fi etc. while also adding in some wildcard choices like Ruto, Agitha and Zant who had unique playstyles and were a nice surprise.

For Fire Emblem, each game has its own protagonists and dozens of supporting characters of varying importance and popularity. In some ways that justifies their focus on three titles more because just taking the most important characters of each title would leave little room for anything outside of a load of blue-haired sword characters.

On the other hand, the focus on three games left a lot of people disappointed because there's so many more notable characters in Fire Emblem that aren't here. Some glaring omissions like Ike who is the proven most popular male character seem baffling from an outside point of view.

Their decision to add Lyn and Celica at the last minute to try and appease people has only backfired on them with this DLC announcement because it set up people's expectations then crushed them again.

I'm hoping that FE Warriors does well enough that Nintendo/Sega/Atlus decide to port over Tokyo Mirage Sessions as well.

I have a Wii U copy, but it deserve a wider audience.

Plus I want some of those characters in FE Heroes

I don't get why people act like Hyrule Warriors was different.

Hyrule Warriors was full of other callouts, some small, some major, and references even if they didn't directly pull a character from the games.

Just for some examples:

One of the first things we saw, for example, was Link using the Fire Rod, a weapon that prior to BOTW was exclusive to several of the 2d Zeldas. The strongest form of the ball chain weeapon of links was a chain chomp because of links awakening, where he used one as a weapon (by taking it for a walk!) For a short period.

Zelda came with the wind waker as a weapon.

Adventure mode was based on the original Zelda's map and items.

If fire emblem warriors is taking a similar level of inspiration from the other games in the series to how hyrule warriors did it, they're doing an absolutely terrible job of communicating it.

I wonder how well TMS could actually actually actually do at reaching a larger audience. I liked the game a lot and would go right for a sequel, but that was the most anime game I've played, even when put alongside things atlus does normally put out like persona

I may personally not be crazy about this decision, but my girlfriend has only played the 3DS games so I'm happy for her! Besides... Not like I'm not gonna buy everything! Still kinda stings especially since I hated TMS, but I'll get over it!

Here's to a future Fire Emblem 6 pack with Roy and Wendy ^^
Oh and Ike, but that's a no brainer!!

Will the DLC characters come with support conversations too?

I'm sure Tharja will be in. Kinda hope we can get more Tharja creeping on Robin scenes.

Female Robin and Male Corrin, who aren't in the main story, have support convos, so I think everyone will have them. They're also tied to the skill system here.

I'm still confused by what the history mode is and how this ties into that, or are these just extra characters to play as?

History mode is basically Hyrule Warriors's Adventure mode. You get an old school map and move an unit through it facing enemies, but the actual battles are warrior style battles, and each enemy is an unique battle with its own conditions and sometimes prizes. Also, unlike Hyrule Warriors' Adventure maps, these maps have story sequences based on the original ones that took place there. They're fully voiced, but just use portraits, not 3d models. They also aren't necessarily identical to the original games that they're referencing. They've shown a map based on Lyn's recruitment chapter from Eliwood's campaign in FE7, but Chrom and Marth are replacing Eliwood and Hector there.

This game is becoming a rougher sell with every announcement. It has definitely become a "wait for the reviews" game and a "wait till all content has released" season pass, something I wasn't expecting after the great job they did with Hyrule Warriors.

Hmm, if they're going all in on Awakening/Fates/Shadow Dragon with the DLC as well, I almost wish Lyn and Celica weren't in the base roster and they just waited for the sequel to include them.

They seem to be releasing approximately every 1.5 years. My ideal would probably be what you're describing: Hyrule Warriors DX/2 (every game covered by Legends + BotW content, hopefully the 4 Champions and Kass being playable) released holiday 2018 or Spring 2019 and FEW 2 released late 2019 or summer 2020. I wish they could go annual with it, but with every game likely having 6+ months of DLC, the 1.5 year gap is probably for the best to prevent fatigue and maintain quality.

Don't hate me gaf, but what's the appeal of these games exactly? Not Fire Emblem games...that I get and love but the dynasty warrior type games of just seemingly killing hordes of enemies....seems kinda repetitive but tbh I've never played one so I'm not sure exactly. Maybe I'm missing a key feature?

I can't say I'm any bit near a Musou expert but I generally like how there's tons of characters with different playstyles to mess around with and you can level up/unlock various things on each character. Each map is pretty replayable because there are various missions and sub-missions that you clear as you play through a map (some time based, some combo based, some kill count based, etc) and as you get to know the map and characters better, you are able to both unlock and clear more and more of those missions on replays. I don't know, I guess the repetition can get kind of... relaxing? Definitely depends on your attachment to the characters though so YMMV. Oh and co-op with a friend can be fun.

was waiting for the dlc announcement if the content is anything like the hyrule warriors dlc this will be well worth the money.

I find it hilarious that people were excited about this in the first place. It was a disaster waiting to happen with Koei Omega Force's incompetence.

Doesn't Atlus have some control over the TMS characters?

Hyrule Warriors was the same, costing 3000 yen in Japan, $20 in US. Pleasant nonetheless~ (Unless you're getting the JP version like me >.>)
