Golf Story showing up on EU Switch eShop with a Sept. 28 release date

Thought this deserved its own thread. Not showing up on the US eShop yet.

Pretty surprised they managed to release it in September after all, gotta admit I was really, really skeptic.

Looking forward to reviews! I'm not blindly buying a game of a developer I don't know, but the proposal of a GBC Mario Golf-like game is very tempting.

Also, it's 15 euromonies, and it's silly I can't take a picture of the eShop with the screenshot button on the Switch. Never noticed that. Here's the next best thing:

I'm beginning to be a little tired of Everybody's golf so this will be perfect to play in bed.
I'll just wait to see more of the game before buying, but the trailer was quite enticing.

On the same day with Fire Emblem Warriors (JP)?! Guess my wallet needs to suffer quite a hit.

Edit: Oh god. The Picross game also releases on 28th.

15€ is a good price! Could say it's a bit worrying that they're releasing this so suddenly without showing that much footage of the game, though.

It is strange, but it was playable at TGS and I only saw positive impressions from the couple of people that played it. Not sure what the thinking is behind keeping it so close to their chest unless there's a big blowout coming for launch.

Gosh, the lack of info on this game makes me concerned that this might be the biggest case of misplaced hype in a while. Still, the premise and aesthetic are strong enough to get me to throw my money into the void day one, probably.

There probably won't be. Golf Story's dev is super small and it appears that this is the company's first game. The fact that the game has got as much exposure as it has, is a miracle. I'm sure many indies would kill to be featured in a Nintendo Direct.

The Game Informer article in the magazine (summarised by Nintendo Everything in the link here: http://nintendoeverything.com/new-golf-story-details/ ) made me want it even more.

– On a quest to go pro
– This is what the first chapter is about
– First chapter: research course maintenance, deal with vermin that might be possessed, attract interest by convincing a celebrity golfer to compete
– Malevolent spirits on the course try to use your golfing abilities to do your bidding
– Puzzle solving, drone flights, geocaching, mini golf, mowing, and more
– Lawn mowing involves fixing up an old course and getting it ready for tournaments
Quest Reward and Game Mechanic spoiler:
– One gameplay section has you rescuing turtles in one story thread, then show up during a match, letting you skim the ball across their backs to cross a tough water hazard

This sounds great, but I'm still not sure how well a 2D golf game plays

However, since Everybody's Golf is clearly off the table, I'll gladly take it

Neo Turf Masters is already out on Switch and probably other platforms.

Give it a try and thank me later.

The answer is really well, if done right. Mario Golf on GBC was brilliant, and that was on GBC. I never played Advance Tour on GBA but I hear it's also really good.

You've never played Mario Golf GBC or GBA? Spoiler: They can play exquisitely.

Alright, thanks! I'll try it for sure, I really like golf games on handheld

This post makes me feel old....
Haha! Oh don't worry, I'm old enough, I just never owned a GBA :) My first gaming platform was the original Game Boy for christ's sake

To be fair, I think he meant top down view.

Sweet, it looks and sounds like perfection judging by everything we've seen and heard so far, but I'll wait for the impressions on here before jumping in.

EDIT: Picross this week too, amazeballs!
