I cant stand anything Trump, I'm in no ways extreme, and see Transgender children as a place where so called progressive people have just lost their minds. allowing 4-5 year olds to pick their gender is utterly ridiculous to me

To answer the last few posts, yes when you're an adult whatever you choose is on you. God doesn't take a persons choice. I don't think I'm being dismissive of any larger issue. I think parents are being manipulative and brainwashing their children. Not even allowing their brains to mature. You cant see a child playing with dolls and decide they want to be a girl. The many story's of children getting older and asking their parents why did you do this to me aren't ever highlighted. I know a person that parents tried to steer him into becoming a woman, very confused person.,

Sure, my parents brainwashed me in this direction. Sure, I've been suffering from dysphoria since puberty because my parents raised me wrong and tried to manipulate me. And sure, I also made a choice to willingly suffer through all the emotional turmoil that comes with gender dysphoria.

First of all, its not a choice, stop saying it is.
We know that gender identity is pretty solid around the ages of 5 - 7. I and lots of other trans people have known from a really early age who we are despite our parents hating us for being trans. They certainly didn't manipulate us to be this way just so they have a reason to not like us. And I really don't appreciate someone calling my life "new age nonsense"

I think anyone with a bit of sense could see I was talking about cases where its pushed on the person, manipulated which happens a lot. And I was in the matter mostly talking about children. I'm even sure some parents think they are doing right, I think we fail transgender people in a lot of ways, mental health, employment and acceptance wise at times. I'm just in totally disagreement over this transgenders as children, because I think that's more of an adult issue than a children one and adults are failing miserably. because of bad information and wanting to seem progressive. If that makes me a bad person I'm good.

It's also not an adult issue. I suffered just as much as a child as I do now- but you don't particularly seem to care about this. You want to protect the 'innocence' of children by sticking to some ridiculous delusion about how manipulative parents are.

Sadly, I believe it's most of America. They don't want to be informed. That poster was even linked to an article with scientific research and it was ignored and they continued to go on about how it's parents warping a child's mind to make them something that they are not.
10-15 years ago that poster would have been talking about how parents must be putting their boys in dresses and letting them get emotional and cry and play with dolls and that's why they turn out gay.
Different time, same old ignorant bigotry.
Just an anecdote, my Sister's friend has a daughter, she was 8. She felt like there was something wrong with her she didn't fit in. They took her to psychologists because she was depressed. They couldn't figure it out, they were worried she might kill herself at times. It turned out she had gender dsyphoria. Her parents had no clue about any of it and at first they thought it was all crazy. They were probably just as ignorant as the above poster about it all. Once they started to let her go in the direction she wanted to go, she was so much happier. He's Jack now, has friends, and hasn't been sad in a while now. He's 12 now.
