Digimon Community Thread |OT| For all the Digidestined on GAF

Bandai fucking teased us for years with Heroes having an actual good localization, and now they're just going back to this bullshit with Linkz? Yeah, not playing this.

That was great with Yuujin in the window and being all nice and then that sudden change to "hurry up and Applirealize your God Appmon!" was awesome.

I'm guessing since Leviathan is an A.I., maybe there's some weird "rules" it still has to follow where it needs Haru to use his God Rank to achieve a total victory or something?

I am a tad late, but I think the human side of Yuujin merely is finding loopholes to help out Haru. Even though he was shittalking him, he managed to help him in a slightly twisted manner.

Man, just when you think things won't get any darker, Appmon still manages to pull something new out.
That scene with the baby getting absorbed by Leviathan shocked me. At the end of the episode it seems like all hope is lost, but Haru still seems to have faith. Can't wait to see what happens.

Just two episodes left now. I'm really going to miss this show when it's done. It's wound up being one of the better seasons of Digimon.

^^ Yeah, I'm going to miss it too. I have to wonder if they are going to do more with it, considering they made so many Appmon. Seems like a waste to never see them again.

What day is Tri part 5 out on?

It's coming out in Japanese theaters on the 30th. Crunchyroll should have it then, but they haven't said anything yet.

Appmon 48-49

Some good stuff here! The whole Yuujin betrayal... I wonder if he was originally created by Minerva to protect Haru but then got corrupted? God evolutions are crazy and remind me a bit of the Saint Seiya armor :p

As different as a concept for Digimon this is, I've really enjoyed it. Almost done already! Some good leads, amusing and fun fillers in between, and some other unique ideas. It's too bad a number of people were like "this is stupid, not MY Digimon!!" and just avoided it after like an episode. It is but isn't, and when people can't separate it, then they build themselves up for disappointment :/

EDIT:
Ep 50

Another great ep. Gaiamon sure reminds me of Susanoomon! Also, he appears to be platinum, rather than gold like everyone else. Time to fight from within Leviathan's belly/psyches?

What a great climax to the show! It really has been one of the best of the whole franchises! I mean really, Apocalymon and Belialvamdemon really did have weak climactic battle. Apocalymon wasn't as bad, it's more the dub of it that remains in my memories more :/ Then with Belial, it's stuff like "I'm Daisuke! I'm immune to his tricks!" for some reason, and Miyako's selfishness of getting all the food -_-
...there's a reason why Tamers had such a great climax.

Hacker's Memory news flash time!

Arkadimon truly confirmed. And I mean really, all forms from Rookie to Super Ultimate are in. Thats 5 Arkadimons.

You can switch main MC's clothes as well, so even more customization is now here.

So, should we start placing bets on UlforceV-dramon Future Mode being added as well?

Edit: Digimon Games Twitter posted some images of Arukadhimon (the localization's going beautifully I see :p):

vxyS9Bm.jpg

CuwuGA5.jpg

dLWEy1R.jpg

vE03GBD.jpg

Edit 2: And now Gematsu has some screens:

Even Arkadimon Baby in. They actually gave us the entire line.

By my count we should be due at least 20 more Digimon that we haven't seen (maybe a couple more depending on whether they're going over 320 by more than just one or two Digimon).

I've pretty much lost all hope for any more Xros Wars or Frontier representation at this point, but at least the roster is being rounded out fairly nicely aside from that.

So, should we start placing bets on UlforceV-dramon Future Mode being added as well?

Future Mode and Demon Super Ultimate would be pretty welcome additions. I hope they add them in.

So, I was gonna say that we should look for missing links like if Sangloupmon is in so then its line would be in too...

And then I looked at Gematsu pics and we have onemore new Digimon confirmed, Dracumon, Sangloupmon's Rookie.

I've been keeping list of new ‘mons, and if we don't count Arkadimon Super Ultimate (I mean, look at it, that's not playable size lol unless there is another model) we have 53.

All of Olympos ‘mons are no way in, but perhaps one of them.

But besides that, I'll try to look for more missing links and these are likely in that case:

Matadrmon
GranDarcumon
Coredramon Blue
Slayerdramon
Breakdramon
Mega level Water type (for Coelamon -> Dago, so maybe Pukumon?)
BanchoStingmon
BanchoMamemon
BanchoGolemon
BanchoLilymon? (Unlike others, no new ‘mon fit as well as other Banchos)
Jijimon? (Kinda stretch, for Pandamon maybe)
Azulongmon
Baihumon?
Xuanwumon?
Zhuqiaomon?
Huanglongmon? (Azulongmon fits atleast with other Great Dragons and Triceramon connection with Adventure Tri, these maybe pushing it)
Ex-Tyrannomon? (If Raremon connection is kept)

So I think these are all in the table at least.

Shoot almost forgot, we might have one more Recolor left, unless one of the Sistermons count as one. They confirmed 3 recolor 'mons for this game afterall.

So Minerva was the one watching from space the whole time. I never thought too much of it, but the satellite imagery turned out to be a significant clue as to where she was.

Interesting that they had an explanation on why it was so easy for them to find the exact Appmon they needed to evolve. The Ultimate 4 were obviously intentional, but going out of the way to explain the rest was something I wasn't expecting. I guess I'm just used to Digimon protagonists getting their next evolution at conveniently similar times.

It also brings to question how much Leviathan was responsible for.

Yeah, it was really neat that they actually explained why they always found the right Appmon to use. I wasn't really expecting the show to go that deep with it. Leviathan seems like probably the most competent villain the series has ever had.

Haru jumping off the roof was absolutely insane. The Eri/Yuujin fight scene was pretty fun, too. I loved that explosive kick bit.

Just one episode left now. I don't want it to end.

appmon final episode then tri part 5. probably a good weekend, unless part 5 disappoints me lol

Out of all the episodes (and I liked all the episodes though I do have my fair share of issues with them), this one has the potential to disappoint me a LOT more than any other episode but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

It all depends on how Hikari and her 'part' in this goes, and since the trailers that I've seen hasn't focused on that much at all... yeah. I'm trying my best to stay positive until I see it.

I've stayed pretty positive about Tri and unless part 5 is awful I'll probably stay positive. Part 4 wasn't great though and the stupid licking scene still pisses me off.

Sticking with my theory that Gennai is possessed by Yggdrasil and trying to eliminate the human world.

Either everyone else has stronger will or you haven’t been paying attention, but spoilers for Tri part 5 have been around for few weeks now. And I totally checked them already.

I suppose they could be somewhat false, but there is only one thing I’m waiting to see if it is true from supposed leaks. It could potentially be very dumb, even if it is a minor plot point. But I’d rather not post them here as to not potentially spoil people here…

tri isn't that important enough for me to go out & hunt for the spoilers lol

I've not looked for spoilers because I just haven't thought about it. Due to the long time between each part, I'm just relaxing and waiting for the next part to be on CR.

And now with it in a few days, why spoil myself when it's almost here? lol

If it's some show or movie I don't care about, I'll spoil away, but I don't understand people that would rather read up on a spoil rather than watch it unfold. Like when Game of Thrones leaked early, what's the fun in reading up early on what happens? I know some people definitely do, but I prefer being surprised by watching things unfold as they come on the medium they were made for.

Haha, even with GoT, I've resisted looking up stuff on it (only at the start of S3) and I hope to remain like that until I decide to catch up.

Sometimes I can't resist spoilers but I do prefer going in and being surprised.

*Checks CR to see what time Tri will be up* Wait, what, it's already up?!?! I thought it was going to be up tomorrow?? Only 2 eps up right now for some reason, though

Darn, right before I have to go to work...

EDIT: 3 eps now... I'll just rush home to watch tonight then :x

Edit 2: All 4 eps up (unless this has a 5th?)

Well, part 5 proved to be a snoozefest for over half of its runtime. The final development was interesting, and
the four-on-four
was awesome to witness, but the plot has lost me. That doesn't mean I can't follow it, but it's just too convoluted to be enjoyable. Leviathan's plan in Appmon followed logic, how did
Yggdrasil
plan all of this shit? It doesn't feel like a natural development at all.

Just watched Tri part 5. First, light spoilers:
this started slow like most of them but once it picks up, holy shit it pick up. The fight is basically what I've always wanted to see with basically everyone fully digivolved. The Dark Ocean plot still exists and takes a very serious turn at the end.

Now, more serious spoilers:
this really could have been 3 episodes instead of 4. The first two barely add anything and could easily get crunched down into one. The third starts pretty slow too but then the fighting starts. Finally they digivolve everyone at once (except for Wargreymon) to save time. The fight against Meiccomon and Jesmon is fantastic but still could have been animated better. I don't really understand what Alphamon was trying to do. Jesmon is trying to kill Meiccomon before she triggers the Dark Ocean and Tai and Meiko eventually realizes they need to do that too. Alphamon basically fucks up the plan. He must be controlled by Yggdrasil too. That thing Meiccomon and Ophanimon merged into is very disturbing and NSFW. I'll be shocked if Tai is actually dead.

will watch tri part 5 later... but appmon finally ends.
it's really a good final episode for me tbh. they manage to wrap it nicely. and leviathan definitely is one of the best villain in digimon series
gonna miss gatchmon & the gang

Heard rumor that tri. Part 6's poster showcases
Meiko again
. If true,
and she's the only human on it, her character has finally moved from "eh" to annoying for me. At least have Seraphimon and Tailmon's "true" Ultimate on it too...

I haven't watched Part 5 yet. I hope it's better than 4, at the very least.

(It's sort of funny that Part 5 and the Appmon finale premiered back-to-back. I'm way more excited for Appmon, even though it's a weekly show.)

Thr script and pacing is terrible with these movies. Those first two episodes with the new one were just people repeating the same thing over and over again. How many times do you need to reassure Meiko about Meicoomon.

I don't know what these movies are about anymore or who the antagonist is supposed to be. That they're still playing coy with Gennai is infuriating.

First half was definitely dragging and while last half had action… it wasn’t that spectacular. In fact, for 5 movies in, it might just not be enough.

Meiko is trapped as being a new character. She is new, so obviously she needs screen time, otherwise what is the point of her. Of course, this leads to her hogging screen time, which sucks for fans who only want to see old cast. At this point, some could wonder if Tri should not have had her at all.

Oh Dark Ocean, woo for those who want it. At the same time, it really looks like it has nothing truly important meaning in Tri’s plot. Clearly it was showed to… well kill Himekawa. Yeah, I’m betting she’s a goner. She was meant to be the ruse villain at start, so when her plan failed at part 4, she is now not needed for. And evil/selfishness must pay so… boom. Anyways, I do wonder will fans like that Dark Ocean is just now this weird dimension that tries to feed on… souls and light? It’s not technically forgotten now, rather it is just a separate thing that exists. I don’t think Dark Ocean will be back, there is no more room for it. It played its part.

Can we get a count on final bosses in Digimon being big boobie ladies? lol So Tri, Re:digitize, Appmon Manga, that’s 3 in recent years. Oh well

Eeeeeh so Part 5 kinda was. Not bad, but it just went by. Pacing is pretty bad tho...

So I'm going to try to give a timeline of everything that has happened so far (I'll put in spoilers things from part 5 and some of this is speculation from me):

Pre 01:

Original Digidestined (Himekawa, Nishijima, other kids) stops the Dark Masters.

01:

Digidestined beat Apocalymon. A part of his data is reformed and creates Meiccomon.

Tri part 1:

02 kids randomly disappear
Meiccomon's data matures and starts wreaking havoc in the human world
Alphamon comes to the human world to presumably kill/capture Meiccomon (
it makes more sense that he actually wanted to kill the Digidestined and not Meiccomon with how he acts in part 5
). Omnimon fends him off and keep Meiccomon safe.

Tri part 2:

Corrupted Digimon start coming into the human world, likely because of Meiccomon.
Gennai, disguised as Ken (because why not) grabs Meiccomon and baits in Palmon and Gomamon. He has an Imperialdramon (because again, why not). Vikemon and Rosemon defeat Imperialdramon.
Gennai likely does something to Meiccomon before letting her go.
Leomon dies because tradition.

Tri part 3:

Himekawa thinks she finds a way to be reunited with her original Digimon.
Izzy tries to find a way to stop the corruption Meiccomon is doing.
Homeostasis reveals itself to be a being that wants balance in the Digital World through any means necessary.
Meiccomon reappears and spreads corruption to all of the Digidestined Digimon.
Himekawa starts the reboot. Gives 0 fucks about literally everything except reuniting with Tapirmon.
Digidestined go back to the Digital World because they want to.

Tri part 4:

Reboot seems to have restarted the Digital World to its original creation.
I'm gonna go on a rant for a minute. So, because Tapirmon exists again, the Digital World was reset to a time well before the current Digidestined arrived. Before the end of 01, hours in the human world were like months in the Digital World. So between the original Digidestined and the current ones, there had to have been at least a 100 years in the Digital World (I'm too lazy to do math). That the current Digidestines Digimon are in the same place they originally found them despite a 100+ year difference doesn't make much sense. Rant over.
None of the Digimon (rightly) recognizes their partners. Also Biyomon is now an asshole for some reason.
(This is mostly speculation) Gennai (controlled by Yggdrasil) with a couple Dark Masters tries to eliminate the Digidestined while their partners can't digivolve.
Hackmon reveals himself to Nishijima as the will of Homeostasis, so presumably the Royal Knights work for them.
Himekawa is completely insane and again gives 0 fucks about everything except Tapirmon.
Everyone can suddenly digivolve to Mega because action.
Gennai chokes Meiko to trigger Meiccomon (why he didn't kill her I don't know).

Tri part 5:

Yggdrasil throws the Digidestined out of the Digital World because it could always do that.
The Digidestined still don't know what the fuck to do about Meiccomon.
Meiccomon shows up in the human world. The Digidestined start fighting her.
Jesmon shows up because he's tired of their shit and tries to kill Meiccomon himself.
The Digidestined try to protect Meiccomon because they still have 0 idea what the fuck is happening.
Himekawa randomly has a rifle or something and then a pistol. She gets sucked into the Dark Ocean.
Alphamon shows up to stir shit up and let Meiccomon do whatever.
Meiko (and then Tai) finally realize what needs to happen, which is Meiccomon needs to die.
Jesmon fires a massive laser to kill Meiccomon but Alphamon redirects it.
The redirection presumably kills Tai, which was apparently part of Yggdrasil's master plan.
Kari's connection to the Dark Ocean is triggered, which forces Ophanimon to appear.
Ophanimon and Meiccomon merge, which allows the Dark Ocean to manifest in the human world.

This took over an hour to type on my iPad and I'm not sure it was worth it.

The battle with all the ultimates and megas should have been the most hype thing ever... but we barely got anything wtf.

I don't give a shit about Alphamon I just wanted to see a battle royale with the Megas against Jezmon and Raguelmon.

This movie's on par with Loss in terms of my personal enjoyment (or lack thereof) lmao.

Fuck Meiko. Maki and Daigo were the only decent additions to the Digimon Adventure mythos.

still haven't watch tri part 5, but I know when I watch it I will hate meiko even more than my hate at her after part 1.
really really glad appmon exist

I like Meiko :(. Though I do agree, they spent far too much time on her. It would probably help if this was either a full 50 episode series or the movie equivalent rather than the movie equivalent of a 25 episode anime (assuming next one is split into 4 episodes) as they would have had proper time to space things out. It does hurt from being a 6-part movie instead of being a full series. - I do think the movies will benefit from watching them back to back once part 6 is out and we don't need to wait months for the next one.

Daigo got plenty of screen time which I liked though. Not too much but more than enough to make up for his lack of screen time in previous movies.

The Dark Ocean being back made me surprised. Though I wouldn't be surprised if this is it's only mention/shot in the whole series (which also pretty much means Maki is ded). I would like to know more about the 'original' kids and their adventure in detail (I'd also like to know a lot more about certain things in general)
but again, I think that's a consequence of it being a movie equivalent to 25 episodes instead of the usual 50-ep series Digimon usually gets and screams of Toei having no confidence in it being a full year series, so deciding to get what money they can from it via movie releases with a lot of digital releases (Itunes, PSN, etc) which is followed by the usual home releases.

That said while the animation wasn't great (waay too many still shots in the first half), I enjoyed the story of it. Too little Hikari for my liking but she was still nice to see,
especially the fighting Homeostatis bit which is the first we've seen.

Also she broke now. Nice to see her brother complex be used to break her :(.

Theory time:
Maybe whatever happens to Taichi will result in him being taken to the 02 kids? And we'll find out exactly what happened to them (and maybe why no one remembers them? I hope they explain that at least). After all, they pretty much got rekt'd and 'died' based on the scenes in the first movie so with Taichi supposedly 'dying' - it could be used as the catalyst to bring the 02 kids back from wherever they are.

Oh and the new ending song was pretty nice. Visually it was meh, but the song itself was nice.

edit: to sum up, I feel like this story was originally meant for it to be a full 50 ep series (aka back when it was originally announced) but now they are trying to fit in what they can into a 6-part movie series which is the equivalent of a 25 (or 26 depending on part 6 runtime) episode anime aka half of what a Digimon series normally gets.

Well, I finally got to finish watching it (came out at a bad time since I was so busy yesterday!)

Anyways...

Well... a lot happened that I wasn't expecting! Rather than complaining about Meiko though, for me it's Alphamon's involvement that confuses me the most. At first,
I think we were all in the assumption that he was tainted with the same darkness as Meicoomon. Now it's like... confusing seeing the battle royale that went on. It was nice to see, but confusing. I was trying to figure out the whole time what would trigger Falldown Mode to happen, and yup, Taichi "dead" would be enough to do it! Definitely not dead of course. The Dark Ocean coming back definitely adds to it, being a semi-dropped plotline before. Maybe Himekawa will find good ol' Demon there? :p As others said, I would definitely want to know more about the original Chosen Children. The flashback from the other movie wasn't enough :x Also, I'm surprised NO ONE made an End of Eva reference to the "Union". Someone was inspired by Anno!

Oh, and I kept thinking through the whole thing that if Apocalymon is ultimately behind it all, I guess he really was sad about only getting the crust of the pizza :p Seriously though, emo dub version was awful...

Theory time:

I like that theory and I hope that happens, especially to help tie in together just what happened, for some kind of explanation (I'll take anything, really).

EDIT: As for the poster...

I wouldn't have even noticed Wizarmon! Hopefully he can bring Tailmon back...

just saw part 5 is still dont why toei insists dragging on i dont know how they intend to wrap up the whole thing in the next movie besides that the Mega battle royal was hype af it kinda of sucked that everyone besides omnimon got KOed so fast

Applimon = great!

Xros Wars second season (assuming you mean Boy Hunters, rather than how Xros Wars has two separate arcs as "seasons") = worst Digimon ever, if you meant Boy Hunters.
