Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PS4 vs PS3 character comparison trailer

This game runs 4k/60 on pc on mid-range hardware so it's a shame about the 30 fps. Still, good to see capcom not being totally incompetent with this release

I love this game so much, I still remember some of the CS/moments making me go wtf lol, can't wait to see them again.

*chokes everyone in the thread*

The only thing that makes me sad is the main theme being lost into existence. :( Dark Arisen rocks but RIP Dangan. :(

Looks almost identical, all that's different is that the brightness seems to have been turned up a little. Congrats Capcom, stellar job.

The character models, yes. However, the new version actually appears to have lightning. And doesn't stutter. And isn't a blurred mess. And doesn't have letterboxing.

And that's just the stuff that jumped out at me.

Not 60fps? Lost a sale.

Unacceptable really. Doesn't give me hope for Okami either.

Edit: After watching the video, that's just a lazy port. Capcom only does the bare minimum. Shameful.

The original game is the only game I’ve had to stop playing because of performance, so I’m more than happy to have a locked 30 because I really enjoyed what I did manage to struggle through.

For a late remaster the game looks basically the same, not worth for me playing again.

By this time I was expecting DD2 and not a lazy "remaster".

It really looks exactly like the PS3 game, only a little bit cleaner.

They could have used better textures, improve the dull color palette or increased polycount, but this is just a straight up port.

Not mad at Capcom, they can do what they want with their game, but I would have liked more improvements.

This looks like it has the same shadow, texture, and to a lesser extent, frame rate improvements that are present in the PC version. It'll likely be a massive step up from the original release, which was quite frankly a shitshow in terms of performance and it was letterboxed.

Ugh, now I'm depressed about Okami too. This is to the back of the my holiday backlog given all the ridiculous competition.

Coming from the last gen versions is pretty much night and day in terms of performance, including the framerate.

I have more pictures for the OT but for now I think this does a good example highlighting the differences:

g7sKoQd.jpg

All things considered, the CPU's are probably just too weak to handle it. I do wish they confirmed something about Pro (or later, One X) support.

The manuevering and movements from an Archer in Dragon's Dogma pales in comparison to Aloy's in Horizon. If DD had it, it would be the perfect archery GOAT.

That difference is imo actually exactly what shows that Horizon is pretty much fully an action game and DD is an RPG gameplay-wise.

Let me import my save and I am in.

I'm not expecting it, but I'd love that to happen. I'm gonna recreate my PS3 Arisen and Pawn either way, but this'd save me some trouble.

I never finished BBI on my playthrough on the PS3.

Weren't the Pawns tied to Capcom's servers?

Also, it's not like cross platform save progress isn't a thing. Xenoverse 2 had it, for example. Even if they patch a transfer option on the last gen version and require you to upload from those manually.

Honestly, the biggest difference seems to be the lack of black bars on the PS4 version. I assume that the framerate will stick to 30. Here's hoping.

30 seconds spot uploaded 1080p60.
But only 2-3 seconds of gameplay, I can't really say if those parts are really 60.

It's definitely 30 FPS.

People complaining that it looks "practically identical" to last-gen versions are forgetting that the last-gen versions ran like complete dog shit and had obnoxious borders to help performance. The resolution boost here should help the game's IQ, too.

How is this not 60fps? PC version runs at 60 in almost every setup.

It's Capcom.

They do the bare minimum, and are clearly being as lazy as possible to maximize profits with as little dev time over what fans want.

Almost everyone of their releases this gen is like this. From lack of features, content and performance.

Bullshit

I... am still confused as to how they couldn't even get this at 60fps.

As it stands now, you are still better off just picking up the PC version.

I will buy this especially since price is good but since remastering isn't all that I'll buy it later bit cheaper, gonna use this money towards an actual remaster .hack last recode with 4 games not only 60fps but also many in depth gameplay changes and additions and touched up visuals and other aspects they also touched and improved audio mixing etc plus some new higher quality audio and more they put in alot of work in the remasters so ill reward that one day one

Yeah, I wish it was 60 (crossing my fingers for PS4 Pro support), but I've been dying for some more Dragon's Dogma, and I want to do what I can to support the series, so I'm definitely picking this one up. I do hope it comes to PS+ eventually so that the word on how good the game is can keep spreading. I need that sequel!

My copy arrived this morning, yay. I loaded it up to check the trophies but they aren't appearing. Anyone ever have an issue with this?

Since it's not meant to be out by 3rd Oct the trophy list probably isn't on Sony's server yet, boot up trophies in offline mode and you'll be able to see em

Whoa, didn't even know you could do that, thanks!

The original trophies are the same (that I can see/recall) and they have added additional trophies, they are all related to Bitter Black Isle, minus one, which is complete the game in Speedrun mode.

Being 30 fps is a letdown. So no black bars and better lighting. Not much reason to get it if you already have the PC version.

I had it on the 360 and loved it, but if you've got the PC version then there's no need to "upgrade".

I really miss Into free :(

Already got your copy? Nice.

That's earlier than even I anticipated, if more people end up with a similar situation ill see about getting the OT up early.

I played this game on the PS3 and even with all its problems (which are a bit exaggerated IMO) i truly loved it like very few other games last gen so i'm sure i will enjoy all the improvements of this version even if they are not as significant as i'd wish them to be.

The way i see it this remaster is a great opportunity to re-visit Gransys again and experience (for the 6th time i think) one of my favourite games of all time.
