I found another cool record shop for anyone in Massachusetts on the south shore. Inclusion Records in Norwell, MA. They are on Rt 53, and it is in the same parking lot as the Pepperidge Farm thrift store if you are familiar with the area. The shop is in the basement of a skateboard shop. You go in through the skateboard store and then down the stairs to where the records are. Pretty small place, but cool atmosphere and the two owners who also work there are friendly.

Just picked up my first record player. A voice of music record player and stereo console, it was originally shipped to Michigan in 1958 from California and has been owned by the same owner since. Then I got it at their auction for $2!! Works great just need some good records to play on it.
Just wanted to say thank you for the mofi brush recommendation.
That thing just improved a bunch of the albums I had and I just used it dry.

Anyone upgraded their needle cartridge on an LP-120? If so, what did you go with, and how easy/difficult was it? I'm considering upgrading, because I hate money and myself. (Forever chasing that better sound dragon)

I don't think it will be too hard. No indication that this one is even strictly limited. As long as you are there at the drop you should be able to get one.

I paid £80 for it and I am 100% happy with it. You can buy cleaning machines that cost 4-5 times as much though. My only advice is:
Avoid carbon fibre brushes. Ive scratched many records accidentally while using one
Buy some anti-static record sleeves and store each record in one. Itll help keep them clean
If you want to clean the records yourself then use distilled water and a clean anti-static cloth. Be very slow and careful with it and make sure its fully dry before putting them away

How? I have brushed thousands of records thousands of times with a carbon fibre brush (quite often quite drunk even while DJing) and not a single one of them have been scratched.
I've been eyeing that one since it's affordable. But I'm waiting to hit the 100 record mark before I invest in something like that. I'm at about 50-60 so I'm almost there.
As for the distilled water method, what's the proper technique? Same as a brush?
I went with the mofi brush from wenis's recommendation since the way he explained it to a beginner like me made sense. I'm happy with it and seems to be doing a great job.
Slight step-up you also may want to consider if you plan to keep going: SqueakyCleanVinyl MK-III. Pricier and you'll need to buy a cheap wet/dry vac but very well made.

Getting into collecting vinyl has actually made me feel less crazy for buying fancy paper, at least.
UK GAF: HMV have a 2 for £25 on lots of vinyl. I just picked up Imagine Dragons and Kasabian (both 2017 albums). Lots of good records in the deal too - Stone Roses, Pulp, Prince, Bowie, some OSTs

I wonder why was the print run so small. Also wouldn't the album be popular enough to see a reprint?
Early 2000s when Vinyl wasnt popping, its a picture disc (used a lot as a cheap gimmick to shift product) and a lot of those early oughts bands are all sitting on some sort of gold mine with their records. At this point its just a matter of time before catalogs start getting remastered and repressed.
IIRC, I know for a fact that the folks at Vinyl Me Please have all been working towards that one being a ROTM. It all depends on a lot of factors (the band and label wanting to do it, choosing pressing facilities, who the band wants to remaster the album, going through the laborious work process both legal and manufacturing wise and what is the most advantageous time to release, VMP saw a crazy year with releases this year with Fiona Apple getting her first album finally put on vinyl for the first time ever, Ready to Die getting a remaster and using the baby cover with original samples put back into the music after lengthy legal disputes, a remaster and repress of Gorillaz Demon Days, most of those generating crazy hype and selling out almost instantly like Demon Days did).
Ive eye balled a copy of Fever to Tell for many years. Havent pulled the trigger for a couple reasons. One, like I said before its only a matter of time before it gets put back into circulation, would it be worth dropping that dough and then VMP or (WB?) starts repressing the record at a decent price on its anniversary (2018 is its 15th Anniversary). Two, picture discs often suck quality wise when it comes to audio. Sometimes you luck out like I did with my early pressing of Lateralus and it sounds perfect with no clipping, surface noise or production issues. Ive never heard FTT in person so I couldnt say.
Its in my opinion the best option would be to just wait and see on it. It sure is frustrating but I think well get news on that release soon enough.

What Seattle stores did you go to? I'm going to Seattle later the month, definitely want to make a trip to Sonic Boom and Bop Street.
I didn't really get out of the Capitol Hill/Pike Place area too much.
Everyday Music is super cool. Huge spot and lots of vinyl. They even had an original pressing of Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf, set at $220 but it's there.
Spin Cycle is small, but they got some good stuff. A lot of the shop is mostly just games, movies and knick knacks.
Wall of Sound is another small shop, very much focused more on the experimental/freak out jazz and electronic stuff. Good rare section as well.
Zion's Gate was my favorite of the lot tho. incredibly cramped spaces, but it's just vinyl everywhere and huge swathes of Metal, Punk and anything else you can imagine. Great shop.
Holy Cow Records, stay away. This is a bad shop, the guy running it was friendly enough, but everything is from the 80's and below, all with a $10 markup on even the most common of records. It also took me like half an hour to find and then ended up being super disappointing with its selection and prices. There was a Pallas pressing of Nirvana's Mtv Unplugged set at the fixed price of $50. Super common pressing you can get on amazon for like $23.
RPM Pizza and Records, stay for the huge slices of pizza, the vinyl selection is super tiny, but a few cool things.
Singles Goin' Steady, super cool punk shop with lots of local crust/hardcore bands and a crazy selection of 45's. Great little store and cool dudes running it.

There's nothing special about Sonic Boom, imo, but if you're going to be at Bop Street (the best shop in the city, by far; pricey but outstanding in every aspect) then I guess it doesn't hurt to cross the street to check it out.
Jive Time in Fremont is great, and I always like Silver Platters in SoDo even though their reorganization a couple years ago made it much less enjoyable to browse. Awesome staff at both these places. Thumbs up to Wall of Sound's wild selection too, even though I've never a actually found something there I want to own.

I thought Sonic Boom was great when I was there last year. Granted I'm from a smaller city in the interior of BC so everything seems great to me. I thought in terms of new releases for indie rock stuff, it had a great selection. Plus it's handy being across the street from Bop Street which out of all the cities I've record shopped in (Seattle, Vancouver, Chicago) has by far the BEST selection for used records. Though I thought the staff there were kind of weird and awkward.
I really liked Zion's Gate as well (they sold me a Wilco album before it was officially on sale!), plus the neighbourhood it was in was pretty cool.
Singles Going Steady was cool but very punk focused which is not my thing, though the guy working their was very friendly.
I went to Holy Cow as well since it was right in Pike Place, I also found it disappointed. I'll probably stop in again since we'll probably be back at the market but yeah, not great selection, expensive price, and unfriendly staff.
I had Everyday Music on my list last time but didn't make it, I'll try this time, it doesn't seem too far from where we're staying (the Moore Hotel next to the Moore Theatre). Silver Platters looks awesome too, I'll try to make it there.
Anyways, I'll take any and all advice for Seattle, if anyone's got it. I really loved my time there last year. I'll only be down for the weekend of October 21/22 for the Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile concert. Here's hoping for some good weather (and good records).
