Digital Foundry working so much overtime with all these Pro and eventually One X patches for older games. :p

Under 113mb update for people who own the GOTY (EU) Edition. US Complete Edition is different.

Also Patch 1.51 is out for some regions which says stability fixes.

Excited for you guys, this particular game really benefits from enhanced resolution.

(Sorry to be mildly off topic, but will there also be any kind of patch on PC? I'm hoping "no" because of the mod situation, but if they want to add something meaningful in terms of visuals like HDR or better AA, I'm open.)

Awesome news.

Wonder how far they were able to go... is it just a simple 1440p job or were they able to implement some form of CBR and give us an effective resolution of 1800p or something to that nature.

Oh boy. I already own the PC version and finished the vanilla story but at this point, I guess my Pro has higher specs than my PC. The GOTY edition is also fairly cheap. I hope its a really good improvement, I might just get it. Will wait for the digital foundry in depth analysis and jump on.

I believe the game has to be designed from the ground up for HDR support, not easily patched in.

How is a patch that small supposed to be what people are looking for?

I'm guessing all this patch really does is move some sliders in the graphics menu (like you manually can in the pc version) to the right. If that's true then the patch size is rather big really.

all the foliage still looks quite pixelated on closer inspection, but some of the text is sharper. looks like its just blowing up the resolution without it natively rendering any higher than before.

Whats that method that sharpens the outlines..temporal injection? IDK.. but it has sharper lines but not really higher resolution...it doesnt work so well with foliage.

Thank you, CDPR! Can’t wait to see what improvements they added. Hopefully there’s Tomb Raider level of options for 1080p tv owners.

I didn't see any new options in the menus.

I am not really in a great part of the game for screenshots, but maybe these can be pixel counted.

maybe I'm remembering wrong or I'm just making stuff up after the patch, but loading seems crazy fast. Could just be the area I'm in

edit: it was the area I was in lol

Hell yes.

I play on PC but resolution bump does sooooo much for this games visuals.

Glad all my console brethren can experience this masterpiece how it's meant to be played now.

1. You can't see HDR in screenshots.

2. That poster just snapped a few quick shots to help give us some insight. No need to be a dick about it.

There isn't HDR support, it's been confirmed from people over in the other thread unfortunately.

Official word:
The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro patch has just arrived, adding 4K resolution support and a "slight" boost to performance. It took longer than "just a few days" after all.

"Yes, the game has just received an upgrade patch, enabling it to take advantage of the additional power offered by the PS4 Pro," CD Projekt Red told me. "When playing the game on a PS4 Pro system, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and all its additional content feature support for 4K resolution and a slight boost to performance."

Certainly not native 4K and doesn't look like any checkerboarding is in effect either so it's 2560x1440 most likely, as was expected really.

Oh man I remember when I was still in White Orchard and I died and the loading was so fast. I had by then heard complaints about long ass loading times and thought to myself "this is actually pretty damn nice."

Until I arrived in Velen, Jesus christ.
