Microsoft Arrow Launcher is now Microsoft Launcher and man is it ever pretty! Great update!

* I'm in the preview program so not sure if it's out yet.

Same here, I set it up today and I really like it.

It's a solid launcher and will be my main launcher for here on out.

I realize now that I definitely prefer more angular/less rounded phones like the Note 8 and Sony's stuff. Even looking at the small Pixel 2 versus the iPhone 8, the more monolithic look appeals to me more.

People keep comparing the Pixel 2 XL price to the Note 8 and iPhone 8+/X and glossing over the fact that the 'regular' Pixel 2 has the same camera. Like goddam Apple is selling the iPhone 8+ for $800 and the Pixel 2 has a better screen, better size (imo) and better camera for $650. Huge props to Google
because people don't want ugly toy phones from 2014.

I told myself I wasn't going to replace my Pixel, but I pre-ordered a Pixel 2 XL today despite the fact that I hate the removal of the headphone jack and I don't really want to go back to a phone that size. What's the matter with me? Why couldn't the regular Pixel 2 have the same design as the larger version?

Probably because it is manufactured by HTC. And we have yet to see a bezelless phone from HTC unfortunately. Even their latest U11 had big ass bezels.

Wow didn't realize how much this Pixel camera destroys the OnePlus 5. Took some shots and it's night and day.

Supposedly Pixel XL got hdr support in YouTube, but it isn't showing up for me.

Anyone guys?

Ended up trading my back up old Galaxy S6 with a beaten battery for the Xiaomi A1 (Android One).

Actual phone cost is around $230. With the exchange I paid about $85.

Should I stick with that or go with the Redmi Note 4 or Mi Max 2? This is just a back up phone with few calls a day, barely any texts. I do use some WhatsApp on it. However I do tether quite a bit with the SIM that's going to be used in this phone. What say GAF?

And they still couldn't come up with a sleek design :p

I get this deal is bigger than just phone design, but meh, still not excited about a "strategic partnership". But I obviously don't know shit either...I just like to err on the side of pessimism and be blown away later.

Hey this pip mode is nice with youtube red on Oreo. Having a small window playing YouTube while browsing is great. Got 3 months of YouTube red free on the Pixel XL.

In the end the guy in the store was nice enough to let me exchange my old Moto even though it was missing the earphones and so bought the Galaxy Note 8 for $200 less! Now to get used to the new interface...

Bug fixes and security updates?

I'm not asking for Android Wear 3.0. I'm asking for Android Wear 2.0.1.

Edit: It's bullshit that people try and peddle it off like this ok. The shit is still on the April security update FFS.

After checking out the Apple Watch 3, how dead is Android Wear? Has Google officially abandoned it?

Hard to say. We might get news at the Pixel event.

On a side note shit like this is harder to parce in Google land. Google always does I/O earlier than Apple WWDC, and then they go later than the iPhone event.

Couple that with Apple a lot of times having an event in March/April you're much more in the know with Apple.

Google tends to be on radio silent for a lot of the year at least as far as Android is concerned.

Edit: It does feel like Google doesn't give a fuck considering they haven't pushed any updates to it since 2.0.

The lack of updates bothers me and gives it a "dead platform" vibe, which is a shame. I understand tech companies dropping the market, but after checking out the other watches, they still look worse than the Moto 360 to me. Like the lug ends, which look way too bulky for me. It definitely feels like there's nothing happening on that front anymore. At the same time I still don't know what a good use case would be, other than notifications and fitness tracking.

Basically, it's been 3 years and I still want a smart watch, still don't know why and neither Google nor the manufacturers are making a good case for it. With the Apple Watch, at least their fitness stuff seems really solid, while I wouldn't trust the heart rate monitor in any other Android watch to be as good, for example. #BrandPerception
Bullshit/FUD/I don't even get what your angle is ...

Wear 2.0 only came out 6 months ago, don't know what updates you're waiting on. Apple Watch OS3/Apple Watch Series 3 is only just catching up to what Wear 2.0 offers (and I'm waiting for reviews first before even declaring that Apple watch has feature parity). If the Moto 360 is your standard for good looking Wear watches then you're more than a year out of the loop. Google's main mistake is that there's no 'pixel' Wear watch (both a round and square option please) to serve as a default choice otherwise there are many options.

Google removed Android Wear smartwatches from its online store and no one noticed Oct 5 '17

:(
😳
wtf Google.

You can move it around. Upper right hand corner seems best for me.
Why not just do the split screen and resize for 2:1?

I like Samsung pip mode better. Works with basically every app.

Man the more I look at this pixel XL 2 bill... Note 8 sure looks like a value buy lol. Never owned a note. Is the stylus worth it?

People really seem to like the precicison of a stylus for selecting items when browsing the web.

I'm having a really hard time trying to decide on my next phone.

I'm torn between the following the Pixel (1) XL, the Galaxy S8+, and the LGV30.

A few things I look for.

* I love big phones. The bigger the screen the better. I want a nice screen as well and bezels don't really bother me.

* Expandable storage is really important to me, which is why I'm not sure about the Pixel. I'd be getting the 32GB model. I'm hoping the photo/video backup makes it workable but I do download a lot of games, podcasts, and music.

* I've never run stock Android(always been on Samsung or LG) which is the biggest appeal of the Pixel. I'm in Canada though. Are the updates as often/quick? That said, I always put Nova on it anyways.

* Camera is important, but not terribly. I never got out of Auto.

The V30 seems to be the one I'm leaning towards, but I just can't seem to make up my mind.

Help?

I would actually love that phone, but it's not available through a carrier, which is my only option for getting a phone.

Which brings me to my next wrinkle actually. The V30 still doesn't have a release date in Canada either. And I don't want to wait too long.

You can get great deals on the S8+ currently. Honestly just go with that.

If the V30 doesn't even have a release date who knows. You don't want to be waiting till January or some shit for this.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter if they just got PiP or split-screen. They have it now.

My question is what else they could copy from Samsung or other OEMs? I can't think of anything right now.

Samsung Pay needs to be copied.

I think there's a patent on the barcode shit so at best they'd have to pay royalties to Samsung or whoever and it's mostly un-needed outside of the US (bar one or two countries that haven't caught up either), so don't hold your breath.

Unless they start doing the rewards stuff here, there's literally no reason for me to switch to Samsung over Android Pay.

Almost up with Fido. Will go wherever for a good deal.

Not an option. unfortunately.

That seems to be where it's heading, but my phone is paid off in November so we'll see if anything happens before that. Don't wanna wait til next year for a phone though. My headphone jack doesn't work and my charging port is on life support.

nice!

how come one promo shot has sharp corners but the other has rounded corners?
Because lol China renders. Mi mix 2 sure looked nice once upon a time.

Cellphone folks came by the office again. Played with the v30. Looks great! Didn't notice any issues with the screen.

The UI still isn't pleasant to look at though.

Moto z game controller is nice build. The face buttons are hard to reach though. Good first attempt.

It still looks nice. I never figured out what the bullshots were for, it's still one of the best looking flat screen bezel-less designs. Much like some laptops, the selfie cam is on the bottom to have a bezel-less top without the notch seen in the iPhone X and Essential.

I'm just trying to figure out what Lineage OS is like before I commit to buying an import Chinese device. MIUI is one of those Chinese skins that apes iOS and I need that like I need holes in my head.
