PUBG is now the biggest game on Steam in history | over 2m CCU, beats Dota 2 peak

i'm happy for them. it's a huge success. but yeah definitely not GOTY.

this year we've got games like Breath of the Wild, Horizon, Persona 5, Nier: Automata, Destiny 2, Divinity OS2, Cuphead, Hellblade and more which all deserve GOTY more than PUBG and we aren't even done with 2017 yet.

That’s perfectly reasonable to argue. I’m personally a big fan of Persona and Destiny and I enjoyed PUBG as an experience more than both by a pretty big margin.

It’s probably got my vote.

it probably will allways peak in this time window, evening/night for china, afternoon evening for russia/europe

Is PUBG still in early access? That removes it from GOTY voting right? Unless the rule is "normally it would but I like the game so it shouldn't".

I was expecting 2 mil to be broken when they drop the second map, but at this rate it's going to happen sooner than that. What a monster.

Yes it is, and if you mean the GAF GOTY thread it will in fact be eligible if we repeat the 2016 rules, but many (by no means all) print/web outlets will rule it as inadmissible. Everyone's gotta have their own rules and there isn't full consensus about what those should look like in this new EA era.

It's selling about ~1million every 9-10days. 3 million monthly, and it's been that way for quite some time. It'll easily reach 20 million by December, unless it hits its peak quickly.

It's amazing. My brother loves this game and has basically abandoned CoD due to it, which is crazy to me.

I play every once in a while. Fortnite too. It's usually not my cup of tea in terms of what I want to be playing, but I love watching it on Twitch.

May be the greatest stream game ever imho.

I love this. A game came out of nowhere takes the world by storm. Things like thus don't happen every year.

Well yes, decimals. They boasted 1,3 million at one time (release week) and that's it.

Yea, since PUBG was starting to break steam records, Bungie posted 1.2 million at the time when PUBG was at 1.1. The after PUBG hit 1.2 million, Bungie posted 1.3 million. But they stoped quickly because their numbers probably fell hard after the initial surge right after launch and PUBG is close to 2 million now.

This will be Star Wars.

This wont be Star Wars. Even with the juggernaut of the franchise it is. PUBG is quite the juggernaut itself. It'll be close but people won't be buying consoles for BFII, but they will for PUBG.

That's the difference. Even if BFII outsells the CCU will tank like a stone compared to PUBG.

Whats truly amazing is this game is hard

One life and youll die constantly. Youll wait around constantly. Youll miss constantly.

Goes totally in the face of games needing to be quick-attention grabbing, and full of constant action and engagement and accessibility

Makes me crave for more round based games. Siege and BR games are a breath of fresh air

i kind of want Valve to make their own Battle Royale game now, like PUBG but better and without and the awful fucking performance and bugs. Imagine how good an actual polished and thought out PUBG would be

I dont question the success, but I do think the total sales are inflated by people who got banned, and rebought the game multiple times.
