So Rorshach is alive somehow? I got chills seeing "THE BIG LIE" on that newspaper. Looks damn good so far.

Edit: I read the unlettered version on Twitter. Somehow, I like it even better with the silence. Frank did a great job filling the frames.

Reads like someone doing a bad impression of Moore. Also a lot of modern day parallels feel kind of hamfisted.

This is how you do a reveal.

So this is probably how the Watchmen world ends, in nuclear hellfire like some thought. Veidt has left it seems, probably to find Manhattan

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
I ragged on the whole Watchmen in the DC universe thing for a while now but that doesn't look half bad. The art is on point if nothing else. That said I'm still not expecting much from the story or at least as far as this sneak peak is letting on.

Yeah I'm like -
man, I guess you have to pick a direction to draw from if you're setting it after the events of the original, but... gross.

Art is nice though, and I do love the panel with all of the newscasters "signing off."

News reporter: Why did you build this doomsday clock, sir?
Doomsday: I did it for the lulz!!

I kinda hope it's not the same Rorschach under the mask, I feel like it'd be better if someone else took on the mantle. With Manhatten fuckery though anything is possible.

Jesus I keep saying this, but I need to keep up with DC.

It’s weird that I was expecting something different because this is seemingly coming across exactly as “Watchmen 2”

It's intriguing so far.
Giving a resolute answer to Watchmen's ambiguous ending is what it is. That work stands on its own and I'm OK with this being an alternate what-if exploration of the plan getting exposed.

You have no idea how hype I am to see
classic Veidt and not even an attempt to make him look more grounded or normal
. This’ll be a trip and now it makes way more sense for it to take place over a short time in the normal DC universe but set mostly 1 year after the current stories.

Rorschach meeting Batman is going to be something.

Bruce's new fulltime job is trying to stop him from killing off his rogue gallery.

Hrmh... EmCeeGramr is right... feels too on the nose, spelling out everything for you. holding your hand, not allowing to use people's imagination, not allowing free will. grinding your nose in to the putrid shit of the page.
stomach grumbling, eyes tired. must stop posting on GAF momentarily while I gather my thoughts. somewhat hyped despite reservations.

Too on the nose? Sorry was Trump president when Watchmen came out?

Rorschach joining the Justice League will be mocked by me, until the sun consumes the Earth.
Go ahead and mock the illustration of his face with the Trinity's logos printed on. They didn't even try to make them look like ink blots

At least it Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. It will have some nice art and hopefully something memorable from Supes himself.

Watchmen 2, huh?

They really said "Fuck Alan Moore", but it seems damn interesting.

Welp, with Geoff Johns as head of the DC Movie Universe, I wonder if this will end up as Zack Snyder's Justice League 3 eventually.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I expected from Geoff Johns doing an Alan Moore pastiche. But I'm sure the people who wanted their fanfic dreams realized will gush over this as though it were High Art.

i personally enjoy all my modern fanfics of the original 1940's comics

since basically all comics are basically just "official" fanfiction really

it's not like the original was political in any way, no sir

and it's also not like rorshach is someone whose word and opinions we should take without a hefty bag's worth of salt

This definitely does not read like we're meant to find Rorschach unsympathetic, at least to my eyes.

I haven’t really been paying attention to the DC universe as of late but will this be part of their current continuity or is it a standalone storyline?

This isn’t the normal DC Earth because this didn’t happen in the 90’s there. A certain someone left this world before it went to shit and decided to change a few things in the world he found/created.

Current Superman will meet Dr. Manhattan possibly shortly after the events of Watchmen?

Or at the dawn of creation? Or long after Watchmen?

Parts of it are in Rebirth and The Button, so yeah it's current continuity
