Guys... Spiderman PS4 E3 gameplay has 40+ million views on YouTube

I really wanted to be excited for this, but the only Spider-Man game that every held my attention was the PS1 game.

I've enjoyed the others I've tried, especially Ultimate Spider-Man, but I just get bored of them after a while. I think it's because I enjoy the swinging and traversal, but not the actual sandboxes.

That is correct.

Though I have the feeling that this game is exclusive for PS4 because of the deal made between Sony and Marvel for Spider-Man Homecoming, maybe as an extra.

Sony pictures and SIE are separate divisions. These deals were likely made independent of each other. The exclusivity is still baffling particularly in the US. Sales potential is limited. Spider-Man is a multi platform property.

Sony is one of only publishers, if not the only one, willing to fund AAA pure singleplayer games.

In fact, Marvel was the one who approached Sony to make the deal. They wanted a Spiderman game with their first party production DNA and quality.

Sony then approached Insomniac to make it. Which is really telling of their relationship, since I would think Sony would made it internal (Sucker Punch maybe?), but it seems they really trust Insomniac.

I'm expecting a massive graphics downgrade by the time it's eventually released in 2019.

Why? Did you see a massive graphics downgrade in Sunset Overdrive or Rachet & Clank? I'm asking seriously because Insomniac hasn't been known to do that with their games.

So GOW and Spiderman coming out next year. Sony rn

Biggest superhero game ever incoming?

Without question. Could be approaching CoD numbers if it comes out near Infinity War.

Based on what exactly? It's not even better looking than Horizon which released 8 months ago.

Whatever SP are working on must be big. Nary a peep from them since Infamous SS almost 4 years ago.

Spider-Man is way bigger than the walls within Sony. Can I remind you that Spider-Man Homecoming has a special VR experience just for PSVR?

A big budgeted Spider-man made by Insomniac is like a dream come true. Spider-man is one of the biggest if not the biggest superhero in the world, Sony selling back the merchandising rights to Disney put them on pretty good terms with each other.

This doesn’t make sense? It’s like you’re agreeing with me but then not at the same time?

Why would you get a pinata of a character you like? The whole point is to murder it brutally and feast upon its gizzards right?

40 million disappointed with a boring, slow-swinging scripted "cinematic experience".

At least we still have Spider-Man 2 if this turns out as disappointing as it seems. Should've given it to Sucker Punch.
Hope there's less cinematics and more gameplay

Give Spidey to the masters of blant open world quest design? Yeah no.

i hope you can turn off QTE's or that's gonna be a lot of angry people
I doubt it. Only gaf worries about qte's but the mass market will lap it up since they are needed to show off over the top Spider-Man blockbuster moments which are not possible to pull off in normal gameplay.

:l i dunno about that my main man

Well that's assuming it's gonna be a QTE fest. I'll give Insomniac the benefit of the doubt and believe them when they said it won't be just chock full of QTEs

Hopefully we'll know the truth

The team behind this seem passionate about this project, which is always great to see. Can't wait till we see more.

And the QTE shit didn't take long. Yeah, you worry about QTEs while this game sells a fuckton of copies and I dedicate a whole weekend to enjoying and hopefully finishing it. It's gonna be great!

This game will be the Arkham Asylum/City of this gen.

It can compete with GoW and RDR2 for GOTY 2017 if it's great.

2017?
You're right though, those 3 are aready a lock in that discussion. Sonys lineup for 2018 looks the strongest by far.
Nintendo ususally holds their stuff pretty tight before release but they didn't do that last E3 so I'm not too sure what to expect from them next year, and Microsoft... eh...

Oh, the QTE talk again. Nice.

Every.Single.Time

It was really prevalent in the latest look they gave us. More than most AAA games I can remember in the past few years. I don't think anybody is saying that the whole game will play like that, but it is concerning to people who don't like them, especially not in that abundance. I don't understand what's there to trivialize if someone holds that opinion.

It's not like this thread incites some actual discussion about something besides stating how impressive those numbers are. It's a big game with a lot of people watching, and a lot of people loathe QTE's since a decade or more for obvious reasons.
