Splatoon 2 |OT2| From Smallfry to FlyFish in 5 Easy Steps!

Well splatlings in general now get that 20% buff in firing movement speed so we back!

In fairness, while not a direct weapon buff, they did improve the effect of using Run Speed with all splatlings, which was already a pretty common loadout. I already run probably 23 points or so with my Heavy sets so I'm looking forward to that.

Due to sometimes using Rollers and Brushes and being too lazy to make multiple clothing sets I don't actually run any runspeed right now. Guess I better look into changing that: I'm not sure how much ink resistance was really helping me anyhoo so maybe I'll replace it with runspeed :p

I could only last one game with the Bamboozler. I was like, ohhhhh, this is why I didn't play this in the first game. It has such a high skill floor. :(

The new map is fun but I don't know what the strategy is yet with the chokepoints. Finding myself chasing Aerosprays in loops around the map. It kinda feels like a way more open Camp Triggerfish.

I knew there was something off! That really sucks. Why Nintendo, why?
It won't make the game run slower, though. Not sure it's related (if the game is indeed slower)

It's just that people online are more often out of sync, so opponents can shoot at you for a short time after you found cover for example.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's not as responsive and fluid as Splatoon 1, which sucks in high level ranked battles.

I just played the new map, you can transport the rainmaker from the middle of the map to the goal in 7 seconds without any obstacles...

edit: yay!

I hope they add some new music to the Square during Splatfests soon. It'd be nice if it wasn't just the one song.

Haven't played since the last splatfest and this game is way too hardcore for me now. I'll get to Queen status before the end but might just stick with salmon run. Has the splat o matic been nerd?

EU splatfest is a bit of a mess for me : many disconnects while searching for opposite team and it is always front paper roll vs front paper roll in the end :-(

Most people are probably on the front side. Wouldn't surprise me if popularity went something like 75-25.

I bought my switch with this game some days ago. I didn't get to play much of the first game, but I loved every moment of it. Currently playing the EU splatfest as a part of the front roll team, and like some people have already mentioned, there are almost no one playing in the opposing team. Most of the matches I've disputed were against my own faction. I'm having a lot of fun so It's not a problem, to be honest. I just find it curious.

The way this game handles disconnections is so effing annoying. You're at the mercy of whenever the f*ck the game decides it's time to finally kick you out. You could sit there for two minutes before it finally says the connection was officially lost.

It seems like I'm a rank A squid, can't get pass A+. Don't want to give up since I've been playing since launch and have a blast every time

Mk1 is fun. Not as fun as Mk3 from S1 but it's still cool. I want to consistently do the curling bump + full charge combo, but I'm working on that. Still figuring out perks I want to use with Mk1, but I don't really feel worse off (by much) without damage up.

Just press home and wait a few seconds, you'll save yourself time that way. Also, if it happens early in a ranked match but you don't disconnect for let's say 2 minutes, it will count against your team's meter. If you find yourself DC early in ranked, hop out ASAP or you could cost your teammates a crack.

Seems like teams are super stacked waiting for the lobby to fill, I'm also trying to play over 4g tether so I'm never sure if it's me or the game taking its time.

I just picked the game up today and never played the first game. Any tips or help I can get starting out?

Do the single player campaign first (where the girl with the umbrella is standing).

It's an extended tutorial that'll teach you movement and give you quick tastes with the different weapon types.

The ink tank on your back is your meter of "ammo" and the red line on it is how much you need to use your sub weapon / grenade.

I picked up Splatoon 2 for Switch and I played just now until I hit level 4. WOW this is fun! The game immediately felt accessible and unique to me and I thought it was a lot of fun.

Quick questions:

1. Can you change your weapon while in an online lobby? Or do you really have to quit all the way out to get to the equip screen? (Can you change your weapon during a match?)

2. Only two maps available at any given time?

3. In Turf War, should you aim to splat the other players or is it incidental? I can't tell if you get more points or if the benefit is really just that you push people back to their spawn point.

1. There's no weapon changing within lobbies, with the exception of league battles. Definitely no weapon switching in-match. Games are so short that I don't think it would be terribly useful anyway to be honest.

2. Two maps in turf war, two maps in solo ranked, and two maps in league battles, so once you have all modes unlocked you'll have a variety of maps and modes to pick from based on your mood and any friends you have online. With the exception of days where a new map is released, there's never really overlap between maps in each mode and it all changes over every 2 hours. The pace of rotations feels way more brisk than it did in the first game.

3. Technically your goal is to just have more ground covered than your opponents, but there are advantages to splatting opponents too. They explode in your ink color (netting you some points in the process, yes), and respawn back at their spawn pad a few seconds later, which is time spent off the field. You won't necessarily do well trying to avoid people all the time (since they can just easily retake any ground you cover if left unopposed) and won't do well trying only to fight (since then you're not covering as much ground), so a balance between the two on your team is pretty important. Certain weapons are better suited to certain tasks.

There really needs to be a way to skip the intro ramble (new updates, splatfest information, new weapons, stages, ... ) it takes soooo long when you haven't booted in a while.

On point 3, suppressing the enemy team is a worthwhile strategy as long as your entire team isn't focused on it. Tonight i had a match where my opponents were dominating us in terms of kills but none of them were focusing on taking advantage of that. They all had bad scores at the end of the game and lost.

Some focus on PvP while others make sure that the coverage is good, and then it all works out.

Played a bit of Bamboozler earlier yesterday. Still feels good, although I suck at it now D: I think that's due to all the newer mechanics of this game and the map design...

I'm definitely gonna put my time into it as I really want to use the MkII variant of it. Thanks to datamines, the variant has
Poison Mist/Burst Bomb Launcher
, the only weapon to have this combo that we know of currently.

Yeah the lack of normal damage up has been a thought for me as well. No more magical OHKO shots when someone steps into your ink! I guess the best basic build will be the usual RSU and ink resistance + ink management perks. 3HKO on ink armor users is annoying and not sure how to deal right now.

yeah J@hra's thread was better

I'm getting tons of Front rool vs Front roll, like 80% of my matches.

Yeah me too...Actually, during my 40 years on this earth I have NEVER EVER seen some back roll anywhere lol When they announced the Splatfest, I was like "what ?!"...it is obvious they tried to go for a silly splatfest but I don't think the choice was really wise (or maybe they just wanted to give Pearl a chance ;-)

More like Marina a chance!

Pearl has been slamming these Splatfests with lower Popularity.

Maybe now Marina’s Team will actually win more games.

front roll is probably some of the worst teams i've ever had in splatoon
no one takes the fucking high points to suppress

I guess front roll will win the popular vote 90-10 and lose the rest
