UNREAL FEST EAST 2017 took place in Japan today, and Yuji Horii said that the Switch version of DQXI is developed using Unreal Engine 4.15 (the PS4 version uses Unreal Engine 4.13)

DQXI PS4 was built in UE 4.13, so they have to upgrade anyway, since the first version that supports Switch is 4.15. I guess less updates means less work to do over?

I think they're probably going to try and get the Switch version ready in time for a simultaneous localization of it and the PS4 version. And probably the 3DS one if Nintendo step in to help like they did the remakes and Bravely Default.

Yup. Not going to happen but would love if this was the version the Switch got. Since by that time it doesn't make any sense to release the 3DS version overeas. However they could still port that version as apart of the Switch version and get more sales.

It was obvious it would be the HD game, way easier to port than the 3DS version, but kinda sad since the West will probably never see the latter.

As pretty as the art is i cant see them needing to do that much of a downgrade to get it running on switch

Same, I'm pretty scared of 3ds version not coming west and I really want to play it in classic 2d style. Was hoping Switch would be an updated 3ds version since I can just get the more advanced version on ps4.

I was kind of hoping for a scaled down PS4 port + 2D 3DS mode.

On the one hand, provided it is a good port, I'd rather play the UE4 version on Switch than on PS4. Hybrid functionality is a great boon.

On the other hand, people here have convinced me to doubt the 3DS version's coming over. So I kind of hoped Switch version, which is more likely to come over, preserved the 3DS version.

Really, though, I want Switch to be 2D/UE4 Ultimate edition .

3DS 3D is attractive too though .

You're talking about a game that runs at 900p on the base PS4. It's going to need a substantial downgrade.

No it couldn't. How many 3DS to switch ports have you even seen? (MH:XX is litterally the only notable one). Why would it make more sense to completely design the 3DS version to make it acceptable (or port as is...) on the switch rather than downgrade the PS4 version that's built on UE4?

Not for me; if we get anything coming close to that on a portable I'm going for the Switch version.
