Russia Recruited YouTubers to bash "racist b*tch" Hillary Clinton

It wasn't just dank memes on Facebook and Twitter.

According to the YouTube page for “Williams and Kalvin,” the Clintons are “serial killers who are going to rape the whole nation.” Donald Trump can’t be racist because he’s a “businessman.” Hillary Clinton’s campaign was “fund[ed] by the Muslim.”

These are a sample of the videos put together by two black video bloggers calling themselves Williams and Kalvin Johnson, whose social media pages investigators say are part of the broad Russian campaign to influence American politics. Across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, they purported to offer “a word of truth” to African-American audiences.

“We, the black people, we stand in one unity. We stand in one to say that Hillary Clinton is not our candidate,” one of the men says in a November video that warned Clinton “is going to stand for the Muslim. We don’t stand for her.”

Videos published by Williams and Kalvin in late 2016, especially in October, often engaged in fever swamp theories about Hillary Clinton and in some cases promoting Donald Trump directly.

One specific video published in October, prior to the presidential election, refers to Hillary Clinton as an “old racist bitch.”

“She’s a fucking racist,” the host says over a subdued rap beat. “And this woman is a witch,” he says as a picture portrays Clinton in Wizard of Oz attire. He goes on to praise Julian Assange for releasing hacked emails. “This woman, she’s sick on her head.”

Other videos are more explicit about urging people to vote for Trump.

This is great. We knew it, but it's great. And it doesn't matter, Trump supporters will probably say this shit anyways, even if its source is debunked or not.

Okay at this point there's no way to view this election as anything but stolen, I'm amazed even after all this she still got the popular vote.

Comprehensive multi pronged plan to make Hillary lose the election. And it worked. All because they knew Trump would be better for their aim of destabilizing the west.

May be China is doing the right stuff by heavily censoring social media.

I KIND OF wish we had to use our real identities online. I really don't think the majority can use anonymity well.

The hell kind of logic is that?

"I can't be sexist because I'm a turtle."

I giggled. x)

Also I feel that BEING a businessman gives more permission to be racist, sexist, and whatever '-ist' for "the sake of the business."

Russia understands the weaknesses of democracy and free speech better then any democratic country other then Germany and they have gotten really good at attacking those weaknesses with the advent of the internet. Russia is playing a brilliant hand to destabilize the USA and its working so well the signs of collapse for this country are getting more and more evident. Russia is going to win the Cold War when the USA doesn't even think its still in the Cold War with the internet and social media. Completely unfettered free speech with no fairness doctrine in the media like the USA preaches simply does not work in the internet age.

Looking at the number of views on their videos, I'm gonna guess this part of Putin's propaganda effort wasn't very successful.

I’ve never heard of these dudes. Looking for them now, It seems like YouTube might have scraped their channel from existence sometime since the election.

Yeah, a lot of these attempts are laughably bad and it's hard to say if they had any actual impact. But key thing to focus on is how many ways Russia actively tried to influence the election using almost every facet of american media.

This is troubling and alarming for trillions of reasons, yet nothing is getting done. We'd rather get mad at Iran for ridiculous shit.

And if you think they limited themselves to just the US election...the Brooklin Bridge in North Carolina is 80b$ for sale just this morning! Don't miss the low low price!

Not surprising. Can we now confirm H. A. Goodman was paid by Russians? So many shitty gullible people bought into this. The Sanders sub reddits were some of the worst with the propoganda late last year.

Didn't you know that there has never been a racist businessman in the history of humanity?

Then explain this:

I've never heard of these guys -- but the quoted excerpts suggest writing that's pretty obviously not English as a first language.

Since the current government is not gonna do anything about it, Google needs to step up.

They need an agency whose job it is to identify IPs, websites, and accounts that belong to Russia's propaganda efforts.

Then they need to blacklist these sites across all of Google's websites and they need to share with Facebook and Twitter to prevent posts on those sites.

the article said:
Williams and Kalvin's videos are not particularly rigorous about nuances of American culture and geography. Kalvin, for example, claims that Baton Rouge is in ”L.A." Another video calls LeBron James the best ”basket" player of the year.

The best..."basket" player?

Try as I might, I can't even begin to wrap my head around that one.

Sigh.

Beside Clinton's well known fumbles, this entire election has been a massive joke and it should have been void and nulled.

But obviously a Republican led Congress would never go for that, so instead we have to deal with the daily shit and probable long term repercussions, even if Trump ends up quitting or impeached before his 4 years are up.

Youtube just banned the channel. It had nearly no views. One of the vids linked had 500 or so.

Yet these clowns had tens of thousands of fans on Facebook.

It's actually pretty weird. I don't doubt the possibility that the Kremlin created a huge number fake accounts on Facebook to help spread this bullshit.

Why they didn't do the same on Youtube (at least for this particular channel) is a bit strange.

This doesn't even have anything to do with weakening democracy of the cold war, Putin doesn't give two shits about any of that 80's era philosophy. Putin wants the money frozen by the Magnitsky Act back and he doesn't want any new countries joining the pact, that's pretty much it. He didn't think far enough ahead to consider the damage Trump may do to the world stability and thus the value of his money though so it may be all for naught.

Facebook was a huge mistake. It's so easy to spread shit to idiots.

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if that Tyrone guy from those Tyrone and Rog videos years back is on their pay.

Go on his profile now and it's a lot of shilling for Kekistan...

I wouldn't be surprised if an article comes out saying that a good portion of the fence sitting, both sides part of YouTube are paid shills.

And I wouldn't be surprised if they are just stupid.

I think that applies more to his oligarch friends. There have been reports from various Kremlin insiders over the years that suggest Putin himself has a pretty crazy set of beliefs about The Evil West that very much aligns with our state propaganda.

And? We're dealing with master manipulators who can target the American electorate with precision on an extremely efficient budget. Obscure YouTube channels, say $100,000 worth of FB ads and a coordinated leak of John Podesta's emails is all you need in order to "steal" a democratic election.

Hillary Clinton earned 66 million votes out of an estimated 230 million in part because of this YouTube channel getting people not to vote for her. Correspondingly. Pres. Trump won the electoral college thanks in part to the information that was being spread by these YouTubers.

First of all, there's a shitload of a Russian propaganda on YouTube. Just look at the Putin praise videos, or the videos praising douche bags like Tucker Carlson or Trey Gowdy. What I'm wondering is why daily beast is focused on these 2 low level video makers, and also, in curious as to just how they were linked to Russia. How did the Russians recruit these guys? I don't doubt they are propagandists, but I'd like to see the evidence.
