I wonder how many are sticking around. I played it once and that's it.

How’s actual fortnite doing? I’m glad this is doing well, but I’m one of those crazy people who still prefers the standard game.

Appears to be doing ok like you can see from the OP, but the game is pretty barebones right now. Heck, I can't even choose the character I want.

Nice, I played several hours of it and really enjoyed it but it got boring fast. That 5 minute waiting for a new game and running around without any encounters killed it for me..

I played it a few times. Its not bad, what is it missing that PUBG has? I kinda wish the TTK in Fortnite was a little longer.

Been playing a lot of Destiny 2 lately but I will play more Fortnite for sure.

I played it a couple times. It's fun but I don' think the core shooting mechanics translate all that well into a competitive experience. Still pretty impressive, shows the hunger people have for PUBG on consoles (yeah, PC is also counted here but it's still probably like 7-8 millions at least without it, so my point stands).

Reminds me of the situation on the indie section of Xbox 360 before Minecraft arrived. So many knock-offs rised to rather great success, including Fortresscraft that, while definitely bested once Minecraft came out, had its own cool shit going for sure. Editing tools, automated buildings, multi-block placements, blocks made out of 8x8 (I think?) miniblocks that you could edit yourself. In the same way, while I did not play PUBG yet, it's interesting how Fortnite switched up the formula adding buildings into it. It makes the battles a lot more dynamic and unpredictable, though you do go down with a few shots so there's not that much room for tactics.

The Battle Royale genre is officially now a thing. Might as well get used to it for the next few years at least.

Love playing survival mode in the Division with my wife.

Nothing. It's a different game doing its own thing.

Five minutes waiting for a game sounds a bit odd, but even so, they've actually massively reduced how long you spend on the pregame island now. It used to be like 1 minute 45, now it's more like twenty seconds. Almost feels too fast.

They’ve shortened the wait times before games significantly and encounters typically depend on where you initially land. Also, the storm moves pretty quick from the get-go so idk if you just had some bad games.

That is no longer the case. I was on the bus in like 30 secs the other day.

I've tried a few times, but the lag is too terrible for me... Never had a problem with the base game, but in battle royale mode it's really bad, sometimes the game just freezes and transports me to another place XD

Played it a few times and it was pretty fun, but just dont think batle royale games are my thing.
Did you play solo or with others? I find Duos is the most fun way to play. Having someone able to help you out yet not having to worry about too many enemy teammates changes the experience significantly

2-3 minutes to connect to a server, 1,5 minutes in waiting area, 45 seconds in the bus before jumping.

If they reudced the waiting area time that surely helps, but too me was to late. I will DL again when the game gets some more content

I guess I am asking, what is different about it. Sounds like PUBG is overall more addicting to people, I do not have a PC so I havent been able to try it. What makes it special?

From the videos/streams I have seen looks like better gunplay, realistic and it has vehicles?

It is fucking awesome.

I play it every night. Wish I had a stable group of 4, rather than using PS communities to find people though.

Played solo, I had a few issues with the shoting mechanics but overall it was reasonably enjoyable. Just not sure I could spend hours and hours, doing game after game .

Will check to see if any of my friends have downloaded it, could make it a nice alternative for an hour here and there, if the squads etc are more fun way to play.

Yep you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. PUBG is a lot more serious in everything that it does whereas this is more of an "arcade" take on battle royale.

Uhhh, can we stop this numbers wanking for 2 seconds?

The quicker these games go the way of the ghost the better

What? I dont know how long to connect to a server, but for me it's not 2-3 minutes. Waiting area is usually 10-15 seconds, and well, for the bus. You choose when to jump.

Why?

People are having fun with them and you want these types of games to go away? It makes no sense...

It's a completely free game in a pretty polished state for an early access title that's made massive improvements in the two weeks its been available (added duos, added supply drops, added new weapons, reduced wait/loading times) and we should chastise it and hope we don't see more examples of this in the industry?

Will be interested to see how many people stuck with it. I'm one of those who downloaded it, played it once and deleted it. Just wasn't my thing.

Good on Epic for doing that though. Really smart move by them.
