Unreal Tournament pre-alpha thread

Every time they update I'm hoping they add sliders for analog stick sensitivity, the default turn speed is just too slow.

What do you do now? console command or something? I haven't tried it with a controller yet.

You just plug it in (Xinput controller) and it works. But I mostly do KB/M anyway, I just want better controller support for when I want to lie down on the bed and chill with bots.

I mean is there any way to bump up the sensitivity without the sliders?

I got a new system and I want to get in on the new UT action. I am downloading now, but how is the state of the game? Do we have a GAF group/server or something like that?

"Wait, they replaced the Bio Rifle? With what?"

No, they got rid of the Bio Launcher. The Bio Launcher was an optional replacement for the Bio Rifle (think similar to Lightning Gun/Sniper Rifle in UT2K3/4). It had bouncing goo canisters (basically grenades) and the alt-fire would splay a web from where the goo landed.

The classic Bio Rifle is still in the game.

5 maps, huge update!

And thanks to Steam's PS4 controller support I can finally play this game from my bed with my custom made profile. (I uploaded it in case anyone wants to try it)

I hope a beta release would get an influx of new players. I've popped in here and there during the alpha and it's fun but the community is really, really small right now.

Part of me wonders if the lack of Steam support will kill it in the long run.

It will, sadly.

Got a new GTX 1070 so I downloaded this to check out some sweet shiny graphies and I'm super super happy about how classic UT it feels. The dodge button is a nice touch that adds to the speed of the game without making it feel less like a UT title. Map design also seems to be pretty on-point.

Hoping the beta release includes a Steam release. The community is pretty small right now and the game deserves better.

it was always said that its not a money, but a passion project. if they have another titles they need to work on - thats understandable.
honestly i am happy that this thing even exists, definitely "better than nothing"

Yeah, I'm pretty upset with how Epic's handled UT. You look at Quake Champions (ignoring its current bug issues) and imagine what could've been...

Like UT is REALLY fun it just needs a lot of backend work (though parties were added not too long ago) and it could be in "open beta" state. But nope, lets just pull support from it rather than getting it out there. I am sure Paragon and Fortnite are doing really well for them, but it would be nice if this game got that level of attention from Epic

Man I haven't played the UT pre-alpha in over a year, maybe two. I definitely enjoyed it, but felt a little iffy about how movement worked in the game.I'm guessing it's improved a ton since the last time I played it.

I really hope in the future, that more of the weapon and character designs are inspired by UT'99 vs UT3. I generally dislike most of the overall aesthetic of UT3. I would love for weapons like the link gun, plasma rile, mini gun, and impact hammer to take more design motifs from UT'99. The somewhat lowtech look of the weapons in UT'99 gave them a charm that the hyper advanced and industrial looking weapons of UT3 lacked.

I tried to install the game through the Epic Launcher a year ago, it would loop and redownload everything again and again all the time. Reinstalled windows recently, tried again the launcher and installing UT.... and the same issue happened.

Dying to play this, but the Epic Launcher is a bug infested hell.

Nah movement is unchanged. I dont like it either. Its heavy, slow and sterile. Just like ut3

Yeah I'm not happy either. Just feels like the new UT is something like #504 on their list of priorities. On paper a community driven "for the fans" UT sounded excellent but their execution, where they're still in pre-alpha years down the line with stretches of months where there's no work on the project or updates is soul-destroying.

TBH it may have just been better to green light a proper new UT via traditional development. Like, how the hell has this not hit beta yet?
