Yikes, and he's 42 years old. Never in my life have I used "AF" in a sentence, it's so painfully corny.

He's basically doing this

"Lawbreakers will be free to play. Just kidding"
"Lawbreakers will be PC exclusive BC controllers suck and console arent good enough. Just kidding."
Probably their inconsistent promoting & the fact that the game has a steep learning curve.

The learning curve in LB is brutal. And there's absolutely nothing an inexperienced player can do to fight back.

That's a shame. It's a fun game (albeit a bit lifeless) with good gameplay - a non-existent community isn't indicative of its quality.

Butchered how?

They raised the TTK by a significant degree to make it easier for new players to compete around when the free weekend dropped and none of the core fans liked it. The flow of the game changed

So in trying to gain more players the essentially dumped all their old ones.

What’s sad is even Quake Champions is doing a bit better and no ones talking about that game. Between everyone dumping on Cliffy for some reason (the industry is full of guys like him but gaf ans yt hate him particular because???) and everything else ppl seem dead set on wanting this to die.

It’s a fun game, wasn’t perfect but I had a good time with it. They just didn’t know how to pivot and how to do it fast enough coupled with mean spirited internet shit it’s dead.

Leagues? How will that work with a peak of below 100 people?

No idea. Seems like a terrible idea, but they're going for it anyway.

I honestly thought Raiders was going to be a traditional game with a campaign, but I misread that. While it does have "campaign" missions, it really is not a traditional campaign. I'm not sure I want to buy the remaining missions.

Yeah definitely can't recommend Raiders for someone who wants to play solo. This is coming from someone who typically doesn't play co op games.

So according to SteamSpy, about 75,000 people own this game.

That seems like more than enough to run a much healthier population, so presumably there's something people fundamentally don't like about the game - or at minimum its retention model - that isn't keeping them around.
That’s exactly my point. Sales or marketing are a nonissue when you can’t even keep 0.1% of your customers active after a month. My conclusion is: they simply don’t enjoy playing Lawbreakers.

What would be the motivation for anyone to play it?

I’ve not heard my friends talk about it. I’ve not seen any marketing for it. It has not popped up in any of my regular YouTube subs. The only thing I’ve heard about this game is how badly it’s doing. If my experience is a common one, that game is dead.

Well if they launch a competitive ranked mode, you could be in the top 10 players of the world by just launching the game. The bragging rights are a good motivation. :p

Patching in brand new rules and health management to a game only a month old told me they had no belief in their original design, which in turn scares me away from even thinking about buying the game because they might do it again, and again.

The game itself felt like it was something g that should have been designed and released several years ago, like when blur was released looking like a realistic car Mario kart, and flopped too.

Well he needed something to stand out. Generic mercs in a fast paced shooting arena isn't enough. Overwatch gave personality to their characters and took their slice of the pie in the market. Honestly only games that seem to differ from the norm grab my attention these days like natural selection 2 did.

Yeah, -MD- posted about it earlier. As for the GAF thing, we've had a... tumultuous relationship in the past.

I've had a ton of fun with Lawbreakers, but I haven't played in a couple weeks. I've just been playing other games. I didn't like the health changes either. I also don't know why they're pushing out leagues now. I get that people want them but it doesn't make sense given the population. It truly is an excellent game though. It's sad to see it doing so poorly. I've played well over 500 matches and I'll be back when they release the last class.

I love Raiders of the Broken Planet and it's struggling too. It's only been out a few weeks. Another niche title overlooked in a year of great games.

I also love Raiders of the Broken planet, but they need to really embrace solo play, like Warframe does. At present, you can play solo, but you get crap for rewards and you can only get the rewards once per difficulty setting. This leads people into matchmaking, which inevitability takes too long, which then just causes them to leave.

i played the like, alpha or beta or something and thought it was just kind of boring and unfun, complained about certain aspects of it and got shittalked immediately by the opposing team who said i didnt know what i was talking about

i mean sure maybe i didn’t but apparently other people feel the same

The gameplay was super generic and boring. The beta probably turned people off.

And some people argued that this played better than Quake Champions...

1.4 was an attempt at bringing in casuals and unfortunately, it ruined the game for some of the biggest fans. My favorite character was butchered.

Jeez, thats low numbers. Maybe they should try porting it to the Switch.
The platform has no competition in terms of shooters... not even COD.
Cliffy B prob already moved on tho to be fair.

QC is still in early access. Meaning everyone on Steam paid $30 for it. There are also people playing it from the Bnet launcher and those numbers aren't included. When the final version is released it will be F2P.

Yeah, these numbers don't mean much. These are only the paid players.

The game is free on the Bethesda Launcher, which the majority use.

I can find a game of QC in seconds, there's enough people playing.

I would have bought it if it had LAN support and bots. I have to have some sort of guarantee I can play this in the long term.

PC Competitive FPS Market

Overwatch
Counterstrike
Rainbow Six: Siege
PUBG (Though different than the three above, as in less competitive, but very successful so prob effects it none the less.)

Call of Duty, and Battlefront is coming as well. Between Overwatch, Counterstrike, and Siege it will be tough for a new game to come out and take some of that market away. All three games are built to thrive for years to come.

Overwatch will probably be much like World of Warcraft and still be going strong 10 years from now. Counterstrike has been big for how many years now? Siege, like overwatch continues to add characters and maps.

For a new game to enter the market now, it can't simply be a solid game. It has to give players a reason to migrate from already excellent games that are established. The thing i feel like hurts Lawbreakers the most is that its art style is generic.

To be fair, Im not sure these type of games can be as big as they use to be. Unreal Tournament and Quake use to be huge, but things have changed a lot since then. Im not sure either one of them can be as successful as they use to be.

PS: I love Unreal Tournament. One of my all time favorites.
