Heh, no Florida Republicans among those who voted no.

They really are desperate to keep the Puerto Ricans from burying them in the future.

Yeah I think Democrats would blow past the 2/3rds requirement in the state legislature and pick up the 7 Clinton House seats. That’s already almost a third of the way there!

Democrats already have a Supermajority in both chambers?

It's real.

This should have been the first clue.

I mean you can vote for Newsom in the primary and get a potential D v R general which could boost R turnout or vote Villaraigosa, deny Rs the GE ballot, and then watch Newsom crush Villagairosa in the GE and deplete R turnout.

Dita Bhargava running for Governor in CT. Positioning herself as a pro business democrat.

Don’t think any democrat wins but that’s probably the only angle Dems would have. The businesses that left under Malloy has been a disaster.

I would do this if I felt it had any chance of success. This is master level gamesmanship though. The average California voters doesn't understand the props we vote on let alone the intricacies of California primary voting and possible down ballot effects.

What did CT change?

how likely is it that an R makes the general for GOV?
Not high but it's possible. Democrats have an A tier and a B tier candidate, whereas all Republican candidates are D tier. But if Newsom does really good in the primary and siphons enough votes from Villaraigosa, a Republican might squeak through.

Exactly. Villaraigosa has no chance of beating Newsom because SoCal Dems don't love Villagairosa and Newsom has built up a lot of goodwill since 2004. There's no reason to make this a D v R contest.

Well, we had a few gun factories that bailed on us, but I’m not sure anyone could have navigated that situation. We lost our biggest company though with GE to Massachusetts. Which really shouldn’t be happening. Taxes keep going up but with Boston and New York so close we have to be more competitive and business friendly in order to keep jobs here. Because if taxes and the costs are just as high as they are in New York and Boston... why not just move there instead?

Also the budget handling has been a joke and the prioritization of where our money goes has been a complete waste. Instead of dealing with our actual issues we’re spending millions of tax dollars on casinos and revating arenas and building minor league baseball stadiums. Our elected officials just want to build shit with money we don’t have hoping that fixes everything. Instead of realizing people don’t want to do business or move here because our cities are terrible places to live.

Basically I think our situation is sort of similar in a small state way to France and the general direction as a state given how things have gone down is going to push us towards a Macron who will probably have to make some unpopular but necessary decisions given how things have been mishandled recently

This sort of highlights the issue with the "business friendly" approach, though. Businesses are attracted to thriving cities and communities way more than they are to low taxes and deregulation.

If tomorrow is an oppo droppo Friday then it will be a doozy. It's my birthday so I think Mueller-orbit should drop one tonight.

Facebook scrubbed potentially damning Russia data before researchers could analyze it further

Facebook removed thousands of posts shared during the 2016 election by accounts linked to Russia after a Columbia University social media researcher, Jonathan Albright, used the company's data analytics tool to examine the reach of the Russian accounts.

Albright, who discovered the content had reached a far broader audience than Facebook initially acknowledged, told The Washington Post on Wednesday that the data had allowed him "to at least reconstruct some of the pieces of the puzzle" of Russia's election interference.

Oops!

Eh, I don't think this means "CT will get an R governor". It's going to be a bad year for Republicans and the center of gravity in CT is less elastic than other New England states because it's much more diverse.

But the Dem who wins the nomination is going to be VERY different from Molloy and probably has to be very aggressive in rhetoric and policy. But it also means why Wyman would be the worst choice because of her ties to Molloy. Bhargava stands out in that regard but oh boy, this is a lame race on both the R and D side, like most CT elections.

Not like Jodi Rell set the world in fire with her dynamism.

You lose with like Wyman or, lol Ganim. The R side is kinda weak too.

Is there any chance that Fuckerburg can be charged with Obstruction of Justice? It's reaching the point where the dancing he and Facebook did around the impact Russia had/how much control they let Russia have for $$$ is stupid. Scrubbing of Data related to the investigation itself has to be worth some punishment

With Congress with a desire to actually do something, I would expect some form of legislation to punish Facebook indirectly in efforts to curtail this kind of shit. That is not our current Congress. After all this Russia investigation winds down, nothing will change and it will already be too late to stop anything they are going to do in 2018/2020.

So how fucked is the ACA tomorrow?

Assuming it's what they say it is, in practice it will do absolutely nothing.

But you never know if they'll throw in some huge thing that'll create a death spiral.

He signed the EO today!

It's not clear what affect it will have. It's not good but there are arguments to be made that the effects with be small/take a while to manifest. It's not 100% clear.

Oh, didn't notice.

Does sounds like it's somewhere between a small and moderate hit to obamacare. And all these smaller hits will add up over time.
