Sonic Forces Moment of Truth (Free digital comic, Ian Flynn/SEGA)

By this point, Ian Flynn should become a writer for Sonic Team. The comic was more interesting than every story relating thing we've seen before

Chaotix is something still referenced in the Sonic canon?

Cool art in that book. Can't say I can take anything Sonic story related seriously, though.

Ian kinda should get a game, even if it's a spin-off, to play around with. I'd love to see that.

I say, let's see how he does with IDW Sonic (which admittedly, I'm quite excited for).

He and his staff do well there, then hopefully, we can think about maybe the comic getting its own game spin-off some years down the road.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

Sonic's supplemental material has always been better than the games. Hire Flynn please, SEGA.

That probably isn't gonna happen.

Sega gonna sega and odds are 99% things that happen in that comic wont be referenced except for like the one thing they really like and that's it. its how they do everything. Whatever other thing exists is its own things, that's it. For sonic boom odds are it will be sticks, in X it was shadow's inhibitor rings, before that sonic's love of chilidogs, before that amy and charmy.

As much as I love the comic when it was good, No.

There was a long time the comic was ass

And sonic x was also ass, Sonic underground, also ass

Sonic satam is kinda ok.

I didn’t even think about that but yes!! Sega should let him write a story for Mania 2 or the next 3D Sonic.

If there's even a fraction of the grunt-becomes-equals-with-Sonic in Forces like this comic, I'll be happy.

Well this prequel comic is only 4 issues, I think its all like preamble. Maybe when the IDW comic starts and they do an ark

Some pages/covers were leaked, it only seems one other book is based around " original character " animal

Still better than most of the games' stories.

EDIT: Beat you to it.

It's gotta be better than the actual plot of the game. At this point, they've been rehashing the same story and many of the characters since Sonic Heroes.

No, for a while the plot of the Archie comic was absolutely not better than the games, 06 included. Trust me on this one.

It's funny how better outside media (comics) have a handle on Sonic's cast over the actual creators sometimes. The Chaotix are really enjoyable, even Charmy, who is annoying in the canon games sometimes.

It really feels like they are a team fighting for the Sunset Heights/Park Avenue in the comic. Also love the little 'arc' they have for the rookie. He wants to be a hero and help out but keeps messing up. But he gets his shot (literally) and he helps save the day.

Small little thing but I hope the actual game does a good job with storytelling like this comic. I mean...my hopes are more or less nothing considering stories from past games (Generations having no plot and Lost World being a clustered mess of tones come to mind) but hey, I'm willing to be surprised.

No. Lot of sonic media is just... not great. I cannot in honesty call undergournd or X good, when the latter is shitty retellings of stories, mixed with shitty new stories with shitty uninteresting humans forced onto you. And the comics have for most of their shelf life , been bad. The Sonic universe is a gift from god and was good for almost all its publication, but that didn't just magically erase decades of shitty stories, in the main comic. And the comic being shitty didn't exactly stop when Ian got on. the reboot, for the main book, all in all is shitty. Its starts of with them trying to remember the old continuity with a story that goes nowhere, then it goes into a several year long adaptation of sonic unleashed equipped with " world building " that doesn't do anything interesting except for draw out the plot of game who's only interesting part was " oh shit the 3d is good in this game " and you can't play a comic so... yeah .I think its peaks to the quality that the most interesting part of that was champions something largely separate from the long drawn out mess they were creating.

For the main comic at least, I have to say most of its publication is... is bad. When its good, its better than the games, much much better, heck when its ok its better than the games. But its often terrible, and was frequently for a time much much worse than any story the game was putting out. There are stories in that book that I would take sonic 06 over

A lot of people criticize the stories in sonic games, and I get that , but the media surrounding it isn't really that great either, especially media meant to adapt those stories. That doesn't say you can't do it successfully, like I said sonic universe does it very very well. Its just that most other sonic media is really bad.

The only 3 peices of non game media I would call a majority ok to good, is the boom cartoon, Sonic universe, and the OVA. And I don't even like the boom cartoon, and it doesn't even have a story, but it being like Okish puts it above... a lot of other sonic media.

No

There are archie stories that are worse, like we can story time this shit.

If I were Sega I'd just be jealous in 50 odd years my entire company (including non-Sonic franchises) has never written a story as gripping as the Knuckles comics at their best. Even if the legendarily terrible aftermath of said stories' existence will haunt Sonic fandom forever.

But thank heavens I'm me. My soft spot for Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog might very well be what the series needs to turn around. Embrace comedy and there's no more need for continuity snarls.

Lol wut! There were plenty of good Archie comics. You don’t make a series last for over 20 years if it’s utter shite. SatAm was pretty great too. Sonic Underground was pretty weird though.

I take it that they’re pushing the game hard because they want to capture the same success Sonic Mania had. But with the $40 price point and general disdain for 3D Sonic games they probably won’t.
