This Mystery Zone is just so bad. I keep ending up on teams that mindlessly press into the enemy side while neglecting our side as it gets overrun.

Is this bad to find oponents in splatfest!?
It's usually a bit harder to find opponents in Splatfests (though it depends on your ping/region) because besides ping and power, the matchmaking has to cope with sides. When the sides are uneven or you're out of the "mass levels", it can really become lengthy (till the matchmaking give up and gives you a mirror match and/or with lower/higher power).

Well, if the map designers have to cope with stupid teams, I don't want their job ^_^

I'm curious... Did you get the same map as EU last week, with a chokepoint in the middle, ink lines to avoid the chokepoint, and small high areas on the side wor which you need a sponge to access?

No, that sounds like the previous Japanese Mystery Zone though... that one wasn't too bad, there were are least multiple ways around the chokepoint. America and Japan have the same one this time. It has two halves cleanly divided by an unclimbable wall, and the only way to get through is two slowly rotating "turnstyles" at each end. The end result is pretty much that there's zero point in pushing until the last 30 seconds, because it's so difficult to actually sustain an attack.

What a horrible Shifty Station. All you have to do is patrol your side, spam rain clouds, and then push through during the final countdown.

It needs secret passages.

I have not gotten the clean smash and grab run speed win yet in S2 like I could in S1. People are too ready for it :p
I managed with my team just after asking it, it was an absolute inkbath it was insane! I managed with the rainmaker to splat three of the four by shooting over the arch but the sniper splatted me just before climbing the goal. Another one of the team got the Sniper during the killcam and scored the knockout. My hands were sweating like crazy!

And yeah, a grab and run so far had been difficult. People seem to have been a lot better at 2 than the original. Not really all too surprising, but still.

Has anyone managed to score a knock out with the rainmaker in the dome? Because that stage is insane!

Yep a few times. Even managed to get through completely untouched in one round. Having Run Speed Up is pretty much required to get away like this though.

Vampire Queen! Ranking up was really easy this time.

I can’t get a sense for which team is winning. I got a lot of Vampire vs Vampire matches, but I found that they were my most challenging.

I think I’m going to do some serious grinding now. I want to get a pure set of gear.

Ugh...my misfortune today is at all time high. Lost 6 straight against the pups. There's always one guy getting disconnected on our team and it's already a loss no matter how much I push.

Remembering why I haven't played this in a bit now. More than any other online game I have ever played, in Splatoon 2, matches almost always feel predetermined. When my team loses and I see my name sitting at the top of the board, I feel cheated. When I get teammates levels 9-12 and a 34 and a 29 pop on the other side, it's vexing.

Why is it that for almost every Splatfest I am out of the house/city on some trip? I love Switch handheld mode but it's easier for me to play competitive Splatoon on the big tv screen. Oh well, won 3 out of 4 matches so far tethered to my phone hotspot :)

Had a match on Shifty Station against 3 Splatlings and a Charger. They fucking dominated because they could fire over the walls and build up too much special charge. This is not the best Shifty Station by a long shot.

No one wants a sniper on their team. You won’t get any splats, you won’t hold your base, and you won’t win. Don’t be that person.

I've done my part for team werewolf. By which I mean I played for team vampire but sucked.

My strategy of losing the few vampire v. vampire matches to lower my power level isn't really working since every match team werewolf still seems to be a team with a much higher level. Oh well. The other splatfests I finished with a positive winning percent, but lost the fest. Maybe this time will be the opposite...

The only aspect that annoys me is that stupid shifty station stage. I hope who ever designed that stage never designs another stage.

I give up for now. Tired of falling into teams of people that give up near the end of the match.

Even when we are clearly winning, by the end it seems everyone just throws their hands up in the air and give up. Team Werewolf is screwed.

I went 27 wins to 23 losses on team vampire. Three of those were vamp vs vamp (lost two of those). I made Queen so my work is done. Fingers crossed team blood 2.0 get the win this time after that embarrassing mayo debacle.

Just getting into Splatoon 2. Bought it back when I lived in Japan (moved to Canada in August). Thoughts on my first splatfest (I'm on team power, screw stamina!): everybody seems a lot better than regular matchmaking. I'm not doing terrible, but having very few games where I'm playing very good. I'm having trouble finding matches--not sure if it's the servers fault or a lack of people on team stamina. Kinda sucks spending so much time in the lobby!

The map design is so bad in this game that your base is worth like 40% on its own.

It really sucks that the maps are so small with nothing but chokepoints. This is apparent when you play a map from splatoon 1 like Kelp Dome which has far more open space and points to flank.

I dont know if this is because the switch cant handle maps the size of splatoon 1 but i miss them.

[I see the telltale superjump arrow appear next to my corpse.]

Son, were you born this dumb, or did you have to work at it.
