Wow, still no Spend $100 Get $15 promotion this month? Last 2 years was on the first week of October. I wonder if they are dropping that deal in favor of the Buy 2 Select Games Get a 20% off coupon promotion instead.

Tempted to grab Alien: Isolation and maybe RE5.

Alien: Isolation is basically a hide & seek style of horror, right?

A:I is definitely a hide & seek horror game... but that simplification does the game a great disservice. One of the most outstandingly tense horror experiences ever for me, even if it drags out some. Definitely recommended

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Yes, A:I is a hide and seek game but it's one of the best one of those games. If you're a fan of the movie franchise, the fan service will add an extra layer of awesome for you.

Ok, but then if the author DOESN'T do it, then we WOULDN'T have these nice laid out lists in the OP. So the guy is doing work.

Author of this article shouldn't do them for a while.

I'm sure people will be asking where the list is.

It's a list of things on sale, not a news article. If he didn't do it, somebody else would.

Can Yakuza Dead Souls be enjoyed if you haven’t caught up with Yakuza yet? I just played Y1 and 2, and half of 0.

Yakuza 0 is a standalone spin-off game but enjoyment would heavily rely on knowing the characters, locations and back stories for everyone involved. Also, Dead Souls is probably the least enjoyable of the Yakuza games .. so you shouldn't get it just because it's a Yakuza game.

This is like a zombie-shooter spin off title which doesn't play like any of the other Yakuza games.

I would say save that money for other PS3 mainline Yakuza games.

Let's see if Edith Finch is as good as people say it is.

I've never played Resident Evil (or rather, very little of the franchise). I am pretty tempted by the RE on sale. What is the difference between Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil? Is it like a prequel to the first one kind of thing?

Hopefully the author reads this. Wonder if anyone would actually step up and format 200+ item list.

I used to when I made these threads. Even provided links to each individual thing on sale to the page on the webstore.

Really up to the OP or anyone else who wants to spend the time to do it.

RE0 is a prequel whose events lead up to RE. While it follows the same formula, it differentiates itself by saddling you with an AI partner (as well as dropping your items on the ground, but that's another matter all-together)

As a warning to others, last I checked Thumper still doesn't have an option to adjust for audio/video lag which left the game unplayable for me.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I may as well grab RECX for $4.
Sexy Brutale too...

Observer any good?

It was mentioned in the cyberpunk thread here on GAF not too long ago. Almost done with Ruiner, and still need more Blade Runner type stuff in my veins...

I've heard only positives and am eyeing it myself.

Yakuza 4 is really the game you need to play before playing Dead Souls since you already played 1 and 2.
I agree. Playing Yakuza 4 will vastly affect your enjoyment of Yakuza Dead Souls.

Dead Souls is fun because of the characters and you gotta know those characters from earlier games such as Yakuza 4. (which has the best protagonist in the entire series)

Keep expectations in check. I mean, It's fine. Hardly the masterpiece I was led to think, but I quite enjoyed it and did complete it in a single sitting. The visuals and vignettes are worth an evening play for sure, but ignore the GotY chatter.

Anyone got a 3 day ps plus code? I’m in the uk but use my us account for cheap purchases. I have already done the free 2 day ps plus trick before.

Sorry article author :(
I appreciate you! I'ma give you multiple clicks.

So all this talk got me curious though and I looked into what kind of requests are being sent to get the data. All of it can be captured using the following request:

https://store.playstation.com/chihi...77008-SOTD2017LP?size=999&gkb=1&geoCountry=CA

I'm not sure what the gkb filter is for but by default the size was set to 30. I had to bump it up to get all the titles on sale. It looks straightforward enough that someone could throw together some javascript to extract the information we want.

For less tech savvy users, copy all that and paste it into a website called JSONLint and hit the "validate JSON" button, then CTRL+F for the name of a game. If you look around a little bit, you'll see that the information of the game is inside the curly brackets of "default_sku". Inside here you'll find "display_price" which is the regular price, and if you look under "rewards" you can find the price of the game on sale. Finally (still inside rewards) you can see the PS+ price under "bonus_display_price".

If no one else takes a whack at it, I'm thinking I'll take a look when I get home later.

Edit: Keep in mind that the filters in my request reflect the fact I'm in Canada so the prices will also reflect that. I think for US users you have to replace the "CA" with "US" to get accurate prices in the response.

Edit Edit: Why no Loco Roco on sale :(

Weird that there are no Mega Man games on sale.

*weeps uncontrollably*

Nothing really catching my eye this time. Probably for the best anyways.

Thanks. I'll keep my expectations in check.

It is so they have to click the source used to see the rest of it.

oh, I understand 'why' the request was made, I just think it's ridiculous. We aren't talking about original content, we're talking about transcribed content. It's great and good some people go through the trouble of organizing sales data for all of us, but they don't suddenly have a copyright on it.

If you go through the trouble of organizing a list, that's great and good. Service rendered! It will hopefully bring you traffic. But expect related forums to post your list [with source, hopefully], and not intentionally make them useless by 'deleting' random entries.

If you're going to delete random entries, you might as well delete them all, and just put a link in to the complete list. And if you're going to do that, you might as well let someone else create the thread who will format the list themselves. And if no one does that? You might as well post the entire list with a link. And the circle goes round and round. Ultimately, the best thing for the most people is just posting the list with source.

How good is Thumper? Right now I'm thinking Witcher, Edith Finch, and Thumper, which would be $43.99. That's pretty rad.

Thumper is the answer to a question that no had had the malevolent cosmic understanding to think to ask.

i.e. Yeah, it's a bloody great game.

Thanks for that.

Won’t find any contrary opinion from me.

The Fall is a steal at $2.50. Great little puzzle story game with great voice acting and an interesting story. Not exactly horror but is kind of dark.

Tempted by Edith Finch and Observer. Also reminded I need to go back and finish Corpse Party. My gaming plate is already so full though and with Mario on the horizon I don't see that changing. Still...

I would highly recommend Witcher to anyone that owns a PS4. The complete edition at 20 dollars is probably the best deal in this sale.
