Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

whats the most optimal ?

What you meld will depend on your baseline gear build and the speed tier you are aiming for.

Once you hit your speed tier through a mix of gear and melds you will want to prioritize Direct Hit > Determination > Critical Hit.

There is a bit more to it if you want to get nit picky, but the above is a solid baseline to follow.

If you are progressing through Omega Savage, then you might want to consider using VIT melds in your accessories until you get higher level left side gear.

Eh, Thordan I think was a message fight. You had groups obsessing over 'gear walls' and changing comps to meet the Living Liquid DPS check, when they were exploding to adds or failing Digititis passes and not hitting consistently hitting fight enrage, and Yoshida giving interviews that amounted to "No, seriously, do the mechanics and then worry about damage":

They then dump Thordan on the world, where the DPS check was intentionally lenient and the biggest gain from decent damage in the back half was.... skipping a DPS check at the very end. Mechanics were the centerpiece and enrage was as much of a non-issue as they could make it to clearly convey the whole shut-up-and-dance thing.

It might have been an accident, but I still think Thordan as designed was probably the smartest content-as-teaching-tool they've done. I don't think there's anything in the game Shinryu can address in the same way, just because of how Omega worked out; I just think it's funny that they defaulted to "throw DPS at it" for the primal when DPS checks were super lax this tier.
Think that's more of a general philosphy for doing raid content. that's what I generally do too. I will always put doing Mechanics first then get to enrage and worry about optimizing my dps later.
I don't find shinryu ex hard to meet dps check and the extra mechanic for not Skipping is easy to do too because it's what you have already done but a rinse repeat.

Another week of V2S and nothing to show for it but the book. I'm up to 11 clears on it so far and I've only seen a piece of Fending gear drop once. I'm not looking forward to loot drops on V3S, V4S, and Shinryu Ex, if I ever clear them.

Well, you're not limited by weekly drops on the last one on your list at least, just knock the 10 runs out and you've got your weapon.

My motto is "you pull it, you tank it"

If you accidentally pulled something, fine. I'll come get it off of you.

That being said, if you do the above and instead of bringing it to me you run around while the add is killing you you are on your own.

I will not risk turning all the adds around to the party to save someone's ass.
The other dps told me to do so after the dungeon. He told me i did a good job to keep agro and next time to leave that type of player dying heh

Though I haven't played much, sad I am to admit my sub runs out on Thursday, and I likely won't renew it immediately, in spite of yet to do Omega, Ivalice, or 4.1 (just haven't had the time).

Being said, definitely got my money's worth. Thinking back to ARR, HW, and SB, as much as I loved SB, looking at everything on the whole, HW is what I truly loved. Just the whole thing up through 3.3 was superb, enticing, and to a point felt much more personal for the WoL character... Plus god I still adore its theme and characters.

I'll definitely resub eventually (maybe around 4.2, lol), I'm just sad I won't see Eorzea for a while.

4.1 MSQ spoilers

I'm surprised Raubahn didn't disagree with me when I said Laurentius and Yuyuhase should be put to death.

It's seriously become a joke now but I'm up to near 14 clears of O3S and haven't seen the healer pants ONCE. Like jesus... piss off already game. Also.... Neo really isn't as intimidating as I thought it would be besides maybe Omega.

i'm about 15 clears i think and caster pants never dropped as well
doesn't really matter when you can buy it with the books anyway

Finally made it to HW and as annoying as the the post 2.0 quests were the lead in to HW was fantastic as advertised. Hope there’s more moments like that down the road.

Loving Ishgard, the story and the music is fantastic. Feels like they really outdid themselves with the world design here.

Having fun with machinist so far. I don’t see many around and all the job advice basically seems to boil down to “play a bard” :(

it is. cause grass is not green over here if you want to farm too :S

Got my clear today. Yep, I see what you mean with farm parties.. It was like this for Susano as well. Got a clear and couldn't get it again for a while in "farm" parties.

4.1 spoilers

I wonder if Zenos is really alive after all. We've seen the Garleans can make Cyber Newtypes. Maybe it's a clone or a cyborg. Maybe Elidibus assumed his identity. That would explain why Varis was upset when he took his mask off.

Eh. The job was in a bad spot for a while at the start of the expansion, and wasn't great when Savage dropped, but they've since fixed it up and made it pretty strong. But it'll take people a while to catch on, and even once public accepts them more in general it'll probably still be fairly underplayed just due to the nature of the job and the popularity of the Bard alternative.

The job is also kind of broken until around 64, and you can't really learn your rotation until 70 because you're missing some super key skills, so it will probably feel weird until much later on when you get the full kit.

There's a decent amount of information out there if you hit up some of the outside-the-game theory crafting stuff, but the key things are all centered around keeping your Wildfires coming every 60 seconds with little to no delay. There are a few different accepted rotations out there, all of which math out to roughly as good, so people often end up using whichever one 'feels' the best. This doc does a pretty good job of explaining the various different rotations out there, but they all rely on a bunch of level 70 things and flat-out won't help right now.

Basically the goal while leveling is to get used to maximizing your ammunition, getting used to the Wildfire window, and get comfortable with the turrets. Everything else will change a lot while you level.

Generally the game's armors are designed with female characters in mind
Most obvious example are the caster tutu pants set or astrologian relic set

Eorzea collection has all armor sets available.

Not sure if they have option to switch to other races wearing those sets though.

And yes once you reach lvl 30 and completed all class quests another quest at your class guild starts that gives a job crystal which when equipped will change your class to its proper job (Lancer -Dragoon, thaumathurge -black mage etc)

At least the females are somewhat covered in this game unlike some other mmos where they run naked.

Cleared all four floors of Omega in about 90 minutes today, so that's pretty solid. Finally got my WHM cane from v4! So now I have the full healer set. i340 WHM/AST/SCH.

It bothers me that the SCH book is so... good, haha. The dyeable area reminds me of Gordian weapons. AST has grown on me though.

Also it's amazing how fast things can spiral in Neo Exdeath. This was our clear today. Small clip of the ending: https://clips.twitch.tv/UgliestYawningLorisKreygasm . Just the two healers alive smh. Terrible xD

Is there any way to tell when you server transferred? I just came back to the game and last time I played I took one of those free transfers off of a congested world, but now want to transfer to where some friends are and I'm still in that 90 day period. It was at least two months ago but not sure how far along I am in the third. Since it was free it doesn't show up in the purchase history on my account. So I assume it's just a guessing game now?

Ok. Computer is all set up and I am now jumping into this game on my own account.

Wifey is far far ahead of me, so...time to grind!

i nvr seen fending glovr drop in o2s but it did in o3s. i know certain drops for some class drops in o3s even tho you can use o2s page to get it

when is relic grind give plss

It's been pushed back to 4.2, when Eureka is supposed to launch.

I'm hoping they'll add the relic gear on top of weapon, give me something to work towards. Also wish they'd add merit points where we farm exp and get little boosts to certain weaponskills or traits. Suggested this in the OF but were shot down by people who are concerned PF comments will have "Maxed merits or kick".

They pretty much would, even if they were mild convenience bonuses, though it's arguable if those are the PFs you'd want to join anyway. Guild Wars 2, possibly the only semi-popular MMO with a more casual fanbase than FF14, has people kicking you out of dungeon runs (5 year old content at this point I believe) if you don't reach an arbitrary achievement point number.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to read the lvl70 rotations once I hit 70 as they don’t make much sense now.

Bur yeah I’ve been working on reloading, wildfire(hard to get the timers lined up every 60s) and turrets(need macro).

Fun class, and nothing beats walking around with a huge gun.

Hey so here's a thing I've been thinking about:

I took a few weeks off from this when Destiny 2 released, and I had a FANTASTIC experience diving into the Raid in that game completely blind, ended up figuring everything out and clearing it over the course of a few nights with some folks I met in game.

Fast forward to the release of 4.1, and of course I'm back to FFXIV because every other game is....well....not FFXIV. I finally got around to clearing Omega 1 - 4 regular (I unlocked it the week it released then promptly dropped it in favor of leveling some crafters), and have unlocked savage but haven't tried or researched the fights at all. I would love to have that experience of figuring out the mechanics, progressing, and finally succeeding in this game like I did with the Destiny raid. What are the chances of finding some like-minded folks to try and take on the savage content blind with me? Is that even a thing people in this game are interested in?

People do that yeah but usually only on the first week of Savage where you don't really have a choice but run stuff blind. I dunno if you're gonna find people like that this far into the tier but doesn't hurt to make a PF party and try, I guess.

I'm sure there would be people out there up for it, best bet would be asking here, the official forums for your world and using party finder and specify that you want to do it blind.

Open up your retainer's inventory, left click on an item and choose "Have retainer sell items." Just keep clicking. Let it all gooooo
I'm waiting for my wife to catch up to me on the MSQ (I just hit Stormblood) so in the meantime I've been sorting and selling all of my old stuff.

It's actually not that bad, I had already organized it for the most part so it's primarily just figuring out what needs to be vendored and what can turn a profit.

Is there a good way to get crystals and clusters now that Aetherial Reduction has been nerfed? Retainers don't really bring back enough for the time sink that it requires and farming one at a time on botanist or miner will take forever.

Got my chocobo tonight! Finally a mount! Named after my 7 years old german shepherd who died last year nonetheless.

I think this is supposed to be a quest around level but I am already level 29. Adamantoise's exp boost is great! :)

See as theirs some Adamantiose love going around, I'm on it too.
Casca Eclipse, send me a friend invite ^^

I'm currently leveling up a Bard and deciding what melee DPS to level next. It's between Ninja, Dragoon, or Samurai. i don't know!
