Looks like I'll wait until they patch this translation untill I play this game. They should sue or fire the translator who did this.

LOL, my thoughts exactly.

I'm only halfway through at about 40 hours and have only come across a few poorly translated sections.....

At that point your accessories for your main character you like to play as should be the reward for all fish and the 2.5x damage double sp cost. Bosses still die very fast Honestly the 1/2 sp and 2.5x damage should be on every character

Thanks, I hadn't thought of using that, I went back to the dungeon and things went much smoother. Sticking to one party helped too rather than swapping them in and out. I went with Adol, Laxia and Ricotta. Adol as the main damage dealer, Laxia to take out annoying flying enemies with her huge AoE skill and Ricotta for stun-spam.

The level full of
amphibious dinosaurs
was still absolute hell though.

The more time goes on the more it's trying to cement itself as the best fight in the series for me

I can imagine that. Especially with a no items run.

My first try was pretty close. Like a quarter of bar was left. Then it took 5 tries or so to even get close to that again. Saw some crazy shit.

I think I'm at the final boss now, but I'm still way too underleveled. Mobs are at least 10-15 levels higher than me.

I grinded a bit today and that paid off.

Nightmare:

Adol lvl 76, Hummel lvl 77, Sahad lvl 75
(The insignificant party was lvl 74)

Edit: Finished the game. Reloaded my save to tackle the remaining trophies. I only missed Kashu's event in the end.

Dude relax he said or to reply here so i did. 1 post does not derail a thread.

In other news, I'm at the end of the game :) lvl 76 for adol. Seems to have taken me awhile but did all side quests. Loved the fame. Wish it had cross play for times when I wanted to do It handheld. My remote play was bit crap at times

For a game I only bought based on the recommendations here, it's become one f my favorites this year. Platted after two playthroughs and 72 hours. It has its faults, but damn was it a fun ride.

Finally found a brand new copy in store. I got the Day one edition and could not be more happy. Between this and Assassin’s creed origins, I’m good for a while!!!

I'm a bit gutted that my Vita memory card died, as I feel like continuing off where I left off, which is right near the end of chapter 5.

I do think the game could do with more depth to its combat, at the end of the day, while flash guards and flash moves are insanely satisfying to pull off, the actual combat loop lacks variety because of them.

You're often pressing a button at the last second to an enemy tell, when spamming the optimal skills and attacks. There's little else to worry about, which is likely what caused the repetition that made me put the game down at the 30 hour mark.

Do really like the game though.

hello, sorry to bump this old thread but I dont have thread starting privileges yet. I started playing YS VIII on PC and thought it would be another average rpg. Boy, I was wrong, this game is a diamond. The setting, the story and the gameplay are all pretty damn nice. How did I miss this?

Don't worry, many people didn't buy it or play it. I remember getting this day one and was enjoying it until the end then I got depressed...

I didn't expect much going into it last year. It ended up being one of my favorite games that I played that year.

playing the PC version now in 4K without any bugs or crashes. So I guess they fixed it?
I'm also playing it right now and I DID had a couple of Crashes, both during cutscenes. The good news is that they are rare, and since the game is so light, and it autosaves often, going right back felt almost instant.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Are there any added or improved visual effects in the PC version, though? Like, I remember that there were effects missing when it launched. I have it on both systems, so I've gotta decide which one to actually play at some point

Weird. I am 20 hours in and not a single crash.

Graphics looks really bad, like PS2 called and wanted their textures back. But i dont really care since it is enjoyable.

This series always looked pretty damn good, even going back to Ark of Napishtim (which I never played but had spectacular character artwork). One day I’ll cop me a PSV and check em out ...

I agree that Ys VIII is also what got me into the Ys series. However, after playing Ys I & II (on PC), I really like the bump-combat a lot more than the more "modern" combat. The bump-combat elicits a flow that I would almost compare to a meleé Shmup, if that makes sense. I feel that got lost when Falcom started to use more conventional combat. But that's criticism on a fairly high level, Ys VIII is still a very good game.

Played 10 hours this weekend, game is so good I had to force myself to quit today. That is rare these days.

I saw a trailer from YS IX and it looks uninspired :/ hopefully it turns out good.

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Patch with huge improvements (and an experimental local co-op mode!) by Durante (Dark Souls Fix guy).
I was just checking on the game recently to see if it's at a good state to play yet, I guess this settles it, ha.
