So there is a Nintendo Switch Joycon update separate from the system update

Oh shit! Cool! Thanks for this

no problem!

WTF! consider my mind blown

i had no idea it was a rumor or anything like that, i was caught off guard when it lit up lol.

for anyone interested, i did so using joycon toolkit 2.0. it brought me to a forum so i don't know if i'm allowed to link it here but looking it up should be fairly easy (there's youtube tutorials). Just be sure to create a backup and save your serial numbers just to be safe. backing up takes a couple minutes (of just waiting), but after that the hardest part is just deciding which color you want!

edit: i don't have the game to test it out but apparently in 1-2 switch the color you change it to is reflected in the game too which is super cool, i had no idea!

Here's hoping they improve the wireless connection behavior. Even breaking line of sight with my body causes that controller to have a ton of latency.

Don't know if its just me but the rumble effects in shantae are even more godlike after the update

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

Sounds like you have desync issues, try calling Nintendo support.

Yeah, sounds that way but supposedly when I bought my Switch it was late enough that the issue should have been fixed. Doubly so for the extra set of joycons I bought about 2 months later. Are they equally receptive with fixing pro controllers that have wicked ghosting?

Wow.
Where did you get those and do they have atomic purple?

Not sure if we can post Amazon links on here. Will edit out if not allowed. I got them from Amazon. You can also get them from AliExpress. The seller had all kinds of colors including Atomic Purple!

I have a joycon that has the connection issue that I never got around to sending in. It may just be a random extended period of no issues, but honestly it seems like the update fixed it...

All you with your joycon mods are making me extremely jealous and I am now looking to see how I can do the same. (Downloading update now hopefully mine turn into an awesome mod!)

Thanks for the heads up.

The right one is taking a lot longer than the left one.

Reminder that the right one has the IR camera.

Now that GAF seems to be turning on Milkshake Duck can this stupid gif and emoji be the next thing to go? Pretty please?

I can confirm that my joycons are almost completely functional now with Splatoon 2 after the controller update; used to go haywire with this game exclusively.

I say almost cause i'm still getting drifting with the motion sensor even after calibrating, but everything else works as it should.

Yeah, there’s an LED in the home button. Wonder when it’ll be turned on in an update?
I've been curious about this since the first teardowns. The strange thing is, I don't think a single teardown actually mentions the LED, so I was pretty much the only one in the threads asking if it was one and was mostly ignored. Kind of happy to know I'm not alone now 😂

If there were patch notes, Nintendo would say something like:

- Increased pleasantness

So I dont miss them.

Since it turned into the worst Vita, yeah.

Should've been the Vita-1000 with DAT OLED screen.

The 2000 model is significantly better than the 1000 model in every way, and arguably, including the display, which is better in every aspect except refresh rate.

Mature IPS LCD > Early 1st gen OLED

Add to that:
-Thinner
-Lighter
-Tasteful design that isn't pretending to be chrome
-Glass covering the screen
-Oleophobic coating so fingerprints wipe off easily
-Micro USB instead of proprietary USB cable
-superior battery life

The 2000 model was such a letdown, the screen by far the worst part to the point I gave it away and went back to the OG vita. The micro usb was the only thing that was great.

This thread reminds me I still have to send back my left launch joy con to have the desync issues fixed. Man, I just hate having to go through the hassle of doing such things, especially considering I bought a Dutch Switch but now live in Germany and as such have no clue which department to contact.

I've been using the pro controller pretty much exclusively because of this issue, which I admit is kinda absurd considering the joy con are the default controllers. Maybe I should wait untill I can buy the Mario Odyssey red joy con as a second pair before sending my original ones in? Have they ever confirmed that those will be sold separately outside of Japan?

There are a few posters around who think it's cool to accuse people of posting referral links when in fact they know nothing about referral links, but other than that you should be all good.

And congrats on Member status! You must've broken the post threshold or something.

As someone who's owned an OLED Vita since launch, and upgraded to a 2000 in early 2014, I strongly disagree.

If you objectively look at the two screens on all the metrics the IPS LCD is a far superior panel in key metrics. The *only* benefit to the OLED panel is the refresh rate, which doesn't even matter for the large proportion of Vita games.

The fact that you immediately dismissed the new screen because it was different says a lot about how it's not what you're used to, rather than it actually being a bad screen.

While you think it's appropriate to call me a liar, I actually have evidence to back up my claims:

Same. I tested the left joycon 3m from the Switch and had no problems when I had disconnections from less than 1m before...
