I'm sure Jos Max was threatening to pull out completely after the whole Honda/Torro Rosso thing looming next year. Then RB showed up with a pile of cash.
I have no doubt Max will be their #1 next season. Wondering what happens to Ricciardo tho
Max right now doesn't strike me as someone who'd do it mainly for the money. Kid wants to be competitive.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.

The family already has money.

Did they drill some holes in the muffler on that Force India? It sounds almost like the v8.

edit: They're testing a new microphone position.

Sounded really shrill and more like a low-level formula. Not a fan. I prefer the low tonality of what we already have.

Glad to see they're trying something different though.

The sound is definitely a downgrade. It was kind of nice to hold a conversation in the stands but then the classic f1 cars took the track and it was night and day. And I’m pretty sure none of those old engines went past 10-12k rpm.

Still, excited for the race, we are in grandstand 12 which is an amazing spot, can see turn 1, part of the esses, 12,13,14,15.

Just arrived in Austin. Was having a great time until some cunt decided to try and run us over (drove towards us beeping horn). Not happy about that.

Still, looking forward to seeing the track tomorrow.

Is RB eventually switching to Honda confirmed or just speculation? If both Fernando and Max were convinced to stay Renault either has a very promising concept for next year, or very convincing bullshit.

If the Mclaren is as good as they think it is, Nando could go from barely finishing races to podiums next year, so that's why he's stayed.

The rumour about Renault dropping RedBull cropped up at the same time as the Honda Renault deal happened so there might well be truth to it. Who knows.

I don't think Red Bull would have signed that deal without the possibility of RBR moving to Honda if the engine becomes competitive at some point. Honda get a chance with a B-team to sort their shit out and if it eventually pays off then Red Bull can get the closest thing they can get to a factory relationship, as Renault are clearly attempting to usurp them.

Harsh on Gasly.

Imagine skipping out on an F1 race because you can win the championship in a lower series, and then the race that could have been your chance gets cancelled.
Gasly was on such a roll compared to Ishimura too. 1 1 2 vs. 4 4 6, only half a point behind...

Austin has been awesome so far.

Regarding tickets, Long story short, we have a member of our group not able to make it Sunday leaving us with an extra ticket.

We’re in Downtown Austin and would be able to get the ticket to you today.

Was hoping to cover ticket cost of $109 but am open to offers!

2018 is a lot sooner than I expected and with the Viasat deal expiring at the end of next year it's good timing. Put a good price on it and I'm in.

I'm less excited about the country specialized feeds. It's going to be even more annoying in countries like the Netherlands and Sweden where they already obsess over the one driver.

I was hoping that the TV rights wouldn't mess with the service's availability in the UK but it's probably expected that that they would limit it. Ideally I would have switched to it whenever Channel 4 loses the rights.

I can see Sainz scoring points for Renault this weekend. Already doing much better than Palmer.
Sainz and Hulkenberg have both been solid this season. If Renault can be reliable for the remaining races then I expect them to go from 8th to 6th or 5th in the constructors.

Man, Austin is so much nicer than Dallas, it's not even close. Sorry Dallas residents but your city is a concrete hellhole.

Botanical garden is awesome though.

Oh, and I've done a ton of races, but none have had coaches as nice as the one I'm on right now. Almost glad we forgot to buy parking.

Sainz immediately matching Hulk really justifies the mid-season sacking Palmer got.

That's my thinking too. If Sainz gets in the mid points positions tomorrow, he'll have topped Palmer's points return in one race. Renault could get a charge up the mid table with him and Hulkenberg in their cars.

Renault tried to sign Hulkenberg, Perez and Sainz last year but only one of those deals were successful. Magnussen was offered a one-year contract but instead decided to accept a two-year contract from Hass. This forced Renault to keep Palmer around until they could replace him.

Magnussen has been close to Grosjean most of the season and scored some good points. Renault should definitely have been 5th or 6th now. Palmer didn’t belong and wasn’t even wanted.

Verstappen did the smart thing and stayed with Red Bull. Mercedes and Ferrari will happily sign him whenever. It just seems like a painful battle to go where Hamilton or Vettel are deeply rooted and try to better them when they are currently this good and consistent. Red Bull is looking to be competitive soon enough anyways.
