SM's about the same time as BW/2 (shorter if you don't try to catch everything on Route 1), just different circumstances. XY and ORAS were super fast and allowed trading as soon as you caught a second Pokemon if I remember correctly.

Black and White and it's sequel wouldn't let you trade till you obtained the C-Gear which you would get after defeating the first gym leader, which would take a while as you had to do a few things first before taking on the gym.

Sun and Moon, you couldn't trade until you gain accessed to the Pokémon center near the Pokémon School, so with the cut scene it would take a while.

X and Y was pretty fast and allowed you to do it from the moment you got your Pokédex, though bizarrely you couldn't access the PC till you reached Santalune City.

The Hoenn remake changed it heavily as in the original game you could trade from the moment you got your Pokéball but in the remake you couldn't until you help Wally the wimp catch his Ralt in Petalburg City.

Thankfully Pokémon Bank bypasses some of this problem but it still require access to a PC and Egg can't be sent over bank so I would be waiting awhile just to get Charmander on my team.

I'm going to start one of my sun playthroughs soon. I bred competitive six dragon eggs all with the correct nature, 5-6IV flawless with egg moves. The idea is to hatch in Sun game, then trade back to primary Moon game to EV train and level up along the way, then trade back to Sun game to just stomp through. That way they'll also be ready for multiplayer. Also I've never done a dragon play though, so it'll be fun!

Modest Goomy
Modest Deino
Adamant Axew
Adamant Dratini HA
Jolly Gible HA
Naive Bagon

I'm also already training four of my competitive shinies (Bounsweet, Dhelmise, Tapu Koko, Axew) and my competitive Lunala. Though the latter wouldn't be legal if ever unless VGC 2019 becomes VGC 2016.

The plan is to have battle ready and competitive Pokémon for VGC 2018 and do online challenges.

So what's the general assumption on how quickly in game we'll be able to transfer bank pokemon to US/UM?

Should be the same as SM. And we should be able to trade between the two.

Plan is to breed competitive eggs for a full team to zip through USM. Mainly because Hoopa rings are back but as dimensional holes. Though the Hoopa rings were just that. I hope the Tapus and UB aren't shiny locked like they were in SM.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like

Since this isn't a new Generation it might be available day 1 just like it was for ORAS but it also has new Pokemon in this release so at the most you might be waiting 2 months for compatibility to become available.

Yeah that's my only concern is if we have to wait a month or two. I don't have two 3ds and would have to work with someone if I wanted to trade pokemon into US for my playthrough.

I hope I can just move my stuff in via bank day one and play the game with the team I want. If not, no biggie but I like having a pre-made team for the 3rd games.

All they have to do is make the pokemon availability more like Pt and BW2 and the game will feel significantly different, BW2 was amazing almost from the start just because there were psyducks and riolus available early

I'm really hoping they also increase the encounter rate on a lot of Pokemon, so many cool Pokemon have low encounter rates for no reason and meanwhile they still got you running into Gumshoos on the last route lol

That's pretty good, laughed at the Golurk being the google stand in.

Also interesting how the artist was pretty much rocking with 4 Pokémon, then again Sun and Moon never gave much of a reason to have a full team.

ESV hatching is so great, I got a shiny grubbin hatched yesterday. I can't believe I'll be fully ready for a VGC season with so many flawless competitive shinies.

So I bought a used gameboy advance and link cable and have decided to finish the national dex in Pokémon Ruby. I only need

Cyndaquil
Quilava
Typhlosion
Totodile
Croconaw
Feralgatr
Raikou
Entei

I have a copy of emerald that has about 110 caught in the Hoenn dex, so I need to do 80 trades or so to get a Johto starter

Also have a copy of firered that I've been playing with as bulbasaur as the starter

Tell me this is doable and I'm not going to go nuts

I realised I'm going to have to restart emerald and do over a bunch of trades again and firered to beat the game with squirtle

Assuming you don't have it already go buy a copy of Pokemon Colosseum for the Nintendo GameCube, a GameCube and a GameCube Link Cable.

A single playthrough of Pokemon Colosseum will get you all of those Pokemon you listed once you trade them over to Ruby although you will have to breed with a Ditto to get Totodile and Cyndaquil.

A GameCube goes for about $30-50 on eBay
A GameCube Link Cable goes for $10 or less on eBay
An a copy of Pokemon Colosseum goes for about $30 on eBay

You can alternatively use a Wii or buy a Wii but it cost more than the GameCube.

Yeah my method requires you to spend $100 or less assuming you don't have this stuff already but I think it's alot easier to do this than going through all of the nonsense you just listed.

Also I'm assuming you're going for a "Complete" as it can be Pokedex? Because you can't legally obtain a Mew or Deoxys with Ho-oh being exclusive to Pokemon Colosseum,Lugia being exclusive to Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, Jirachi being exclusive to the Pokemon Colosseum Pre Order Bonus Disc (Which people are selling on eBay) and Celebi being exclusive to the Japanese Pokemon Colosseum Pre Order Bonus Disc.

Doesn't deserve a thread, but the next Pokémon card set (for Ultra Sun/Moon) will have 5 Ultra Beast cards.
3 of these are likely Adhesive, Assembly, and Burst.
It's likely there will be at least 2 more new Ultra Beasts.

This isn't guaranteed, but all of the current Ultra Beasts will come out by November (out in Japan), so it's safe to assume such.

It's possible there are reprints/different versions of the current Ultra Beasts, but it doesn't seem likely.

I don't think we are getting more new UB Pokemon. 10 UBs and 85 new Pokemon for the Generation feels like the right number to stop. My bet is on the two other cards being reprints of the two version exclusive UBs Buzzwole and Pheromosa

I'm not too versed in TCG, but don't the English and Japanese sets differ somewhat? Crimson Invasion isn't out yet but I found the leaked list on Pokebeach. Pheromosa, Celesteela, and Xurkitree don't seem to be part of it, while all three were just released in Japan.

Yeah, I know Lugia and Ho-oh and the Mythicals are out of the question. Made my peace with that. I'll try to find a GameCube and accessories. I actually used to own a copy of Coliseum but ended up selling it cause I couldn't use it with my Wii.

I realise the battery for timed events is dead, that's not going to do anything bad to my save right? I'm actually curious how much longer these GBA saves are going to last. Mine is over a decade old now.

The battery is not required for saves and all GBA mainline Pokemon games use flash memory for saving, not battery backup.

The only bad thing that'll happen is if the time was set to where shoal cave is in high tide, you can't catch Snorunt/Sealeo. It would require a save wipe on one of your games or to buy XD.

I never noticed that the initial Happy Birthday music that plays in the Pokemon Center for Gen VI/VII differed between the international and Japanese versions. The international version is an arrangement of the Pokemon Center theme, while the Japanese version is an arrangement of the Happy Birthday song. The international version plays whenever the player re-enters anytime during their birthday in both versions.

Also, the Happy Birthday arrangement wasn't included in the ORAS OST. At least not in the English version. It must have been a licensing issue. It looks like the song was only declared public domain last year.

I honestly prefer the Pokemon Center arrangement, so I'm not too choked up about learning about this change.

Would anyone have a spare NA Marshadow code they'd be willing to part with? I'm out of town until Monday and won't have access to a GS until I get home.

I won't have access to most of my Pokémon until then either if someone is looking to trade for it. But I figure I'll put the feeler out now and cross my fingers.

So I finally got my Marshadow...kinda underwhelming to how I get the Pokémon with very little fanfare unless there's an NPC in the game that tell more info on Marshadow's lore.

Also in other news according to an interview held by Eurogamer Portugal, move tutors are back and we paid for them via points earned in Mantine Surf.

So surf up dudes.

And still sucks on mobile!

Urgh tell me about it, I have to zoom in to use the side bar.

Still though, it has been a great site where I get my Pokémon info and I always have a tab open just so I can quickly access it.

Bulbapedia is also pretty good for a more in depth look at a Pokémon.

See you guys on Serebiiforums, I guess.

Don't blame ya, this site is starting to crash and burn.

I haven't been there in years, I wonder if my account that I made when I was 14 years old is still there.

I wonder what 14 years old me would have thought about the direction of the Pokémon series.

Casual reminder that we have a Discord server (as a replacement to our previous IRC channel) that sometimes talks about Pokémon, haha.

PM for an invite.

Going through Pokemon Blue and trying to beat it before Miiverse is down for good...

Man, I hate the Safari Zone. Why do the Safari Balls keep missing Chansey, damn it?!
