Really wish you just explained the entire situation of the sexual allegations than just come out and say "its false, but we'll talk about it later lol".
People are angry that you didn't comment on it (despite a statement was suppose to come later that day on Saturday) and then the site crashing made the morale worse. It feels like this is a politician trying to cover up something.

Amazingly shocking and saddening how the weakest of external pressures was enough to topple our collective like that.
Perhaps it wasn't really a "community", no one even cared about or respected the investment thousands of people had in this site.
I was actually naive enough to think these people would a care a little more than that before sending this place to hell.
Thousands of hours,posts,moments of excitement,exchange or ideas,art,culture..all ready to be destroyed at a moment's notice ,at the slightest provocation.
Perhaps it wasn't really a "community", no one even cared about or respected the investment thousands of people had in this site.

As a female, I have seen more then enough to not take this seriously and I hope if there is a pattern of some mental disturbance it will be felt...dealt with accordingly. I think the site should be handed off to someone less of a sleaze and then we can then start over. Until then this forum will continue to flatline.

lol @ police state, guys. I think it's stupid, but at the end of the day, this is a private message board owned by one guy. He can technically do whatever he likes, as stupid as it seems. I mean, private company secret police lol.
This seems like the perfect example of shooting oneself in the foot tho. The commercial viability of this site (since it is Malka's career) is pretty much based on traffic and 'influence', but considering how uh... staining this scandal is, plus the extremely poor response, I'm not sure how long it can continue to be financially viable.
Truth is, you should have made a public statement back on Thursday, something simple like "The events detailed are either untrue, or misconstrued, or I made a mistake and I apologize" or something. I mean, it's Public Relations 101.
Whether the events happened or not, I dunno. If Malka is being slandered, then you should have just litigated immediately. If it's true, then you should have owned up, and apologized and said something like... "I misconstrued what happened, I fucked up, I am so sorry and ashamed", kinda like what celebs do when they're caught doing dumb shit.

I only ever frequented gaming side anyway, so functionally, you would think nothing has changed. I also think that NeoGAF has been traditionally too quick to get outraged and lose itself in misinformation and FUD even in the face of PR responses or statements of denial, and that this has contributed to a lot of runaway toxicity in the past. I'm not going to pass judgement either way on the he-said she-said here.
And despite all this, I think the mishandling of the communication this weekend and the unannounced shuttering of the board have shown conclusively that the many, many robust and self-sufficient communities on this site simply can't depend on the single obvious point of failure that is the ownership here in order to exist and keep functioning. I'm glad to see GAF is back online for archival/historical reasons only, but we have to recognize that this isn't an isolated incident but the final explosive catalyst in a long-simmering cauldron of frustrations about the accountability and transparency of how things operate around here. There is a reason that, unusually for the splintering of such a once durable one-stop shop of a super-community, everyone is suddenly so excited about migrating elsewhere, regardless of what ownership has done and whether the accusations are true.

No such thing as innocent until proven guilty anymore, I suppose. Everything everyone says on the internet is absolute truth now. While I think the situation should be taken seriously and addressed, I think the immediate aftermath was.. unfortunate. It's really sad all around. Keep on keepin' on in the meantime, I say.

I lurked this site from it's inception. Waited a year or two to get my account approved to post in 2012. By that point the forums had become infected with the disease of unfair, and unbalanced political opinions led by a select chosen few leading the dog piling against anyone with a dissenting opinion, even if that opinion was argued logically and in good faith.
These select people were responsible for the downfall of this sites reputation over the past few years. Hopefully they stay gone, make a new forum for themselves, or whatever, I don't care.
If GAF can go back to some semblance of fair and balanced moderation, I have no doubt it's reputation can be restored.
Nuking OT for the time being is a good first step. I'm on board for now.

You could have issued a statement through social media. You can't blame people for thinking you were trying to shut down any discussion of it. I'm really disappointed in your recent behaviour Tyler. What makes NeoGAF great is the community and you failed to respect that.
GAF has been a big part of my life, the only site I used in the last few years and it's sad to see this happen. It's really disappointing to see the communities I participated in scattered this way. I'm not sure if I'll be back on GAF but I made a lot of great friends here and I'll remember it for that.

I'd take issue with this and say that there was both a "good" amount of mod'ing in some threads (PoliGAF was always a welcoming place for good faith arguments on both sides), and not enough enough mod'ing for the general OT politics threads (like, every Bernie or Hillary thread descended into name-calling relitigating of the Primary by the same people).
To place any "blame" on the politics of the hour, or "that's the way the internet is" is sticking your head in the sand. GamerGate was a breeding ground for Nazis partly because there wasn't enough "mod'ing" elsewhere on the internet, and partly because the partisan nature of console wars and DF threads on places like GAF encourages a "take no prisoners, fuck the otherside's opinion" mentality. Gaming and nerd/geek culture is a swamp of gate-keeping, ignorance, memes, "defensiveness as masculinity" and a whole lot more.
Gaming side was great in a lot of ways - so much knowledge, and so many people helping others out. The Performance threads alone were amazing, and then there's emulator threads, LTTP/RTTP. But to remove OT as though people talking about anything from Hillary Clinton to misogyny in The Big Bang Theory were to blame... It simply punts the issue down the road.
With regards to your "issues" - this accusation, as well as your bragging of your European trip: The manly thing (as well as the gentlemanly thing) would be to transfer ownership of the site, either to a mod who is still respected, or to someone entirely outside of the GAF circle, who is also respected. That you haven't done this shows that you yourself are happy to flout your own rules and moral code. Your actions - whether you're innocent or guilty - have torn asunder a place which was for many a haven, a genuine Safe Space, a mental refuge, for people from across the world.

You do not state that she actually made the Facebook post private, and the implication that she deleted the post can lead some to think her claim is false simply because she didn't stand by it.
