My thinking on it is that all that is stuff EL has to worry about because to us the damage to the community is done regardless of whatever happens with his situation.

Let’s be real, the girl could recant tomorrow but the admin team isn’t gonna unban all those people and I highly doubt they would wanna came back regardless.

I can’t say with certainty he’s guilty obviously, but his past is clearly sketchy, and his response to these allegations leaves a lot to be desired.

Again though, things won’t be the same. Even if he changes course from restricting politics and social issues so many notable members have commited account suicide these past few days that’s it’s hard to see this place continuing to be THE geek friendly, left leaning, one stop shop for nearly anything and still thriving like it used to be after this. The genie is out of the bottle and you already see so many juniors coming out of the woodwork wanting to bring things back to “games”.

I imagine it will continue on, some good people will stick around but it’s gonna be a minute until the new content creators and forum leaders emerge to drive discussion forward. To everyone else who was around before all this, the old neogaf is gone.

Edit again: Des put me on Kendrick before Dre even heard of him. Crazy. I remember showing my friends the Michael Jordan video and they were like what the fuck is this... now the dude who talked the most shit has a signed Damn vinyl. Can't believe this shit.

I’ve been thinking about this since I read your post.

At first I didn’t know. The more I thought about, I think the main reason is because I took y’all for granted. I didn’t need to actively participate because I knew I could come here daily and things would be cool without me. I knew what to expect and I guess I didn’t want to mess with the formula. It’s weird, and doesn’t make much sense, but I almost had personas in my mind for everyone. You really get to know people through their posts.I loved yours and Esch’s discussions. And enzo, Toku, PD, Yoda, Irish, Peterboy, Overcast, siddx, ace, ton I’m forgetting.

I naively assumed NeoGAF would just always be around. I think I first visited in 2006. Account in 2007. With such a large community I really didn’t think one bad apple could cause the entire thing to implode.

I guess the one thing I’ll take away from this is I should be a participant and not an observer. I can’t count on the platform to last forever, but if I would’ve built relationships myself instead of just watching them be built, I wouldn’t feel so bad after the platform’s inevitable death.

Take it easy y’all.

This place was incredible, and its a testament to its staying power that its survived close to 10 years. Shout out all the original posters, its been an awesome decade.

wish i had a chance to be apart of this community. reading the parting messages is a reality check to all the memorable times people have had here.

i love hip-hop and living in Portland, OR all my life there isn't a huge scene for it, so this would have been a great place to learn about some serious talent out there.

hopefully i'll get a chance to be apart of it someday at another forum. wish you all well.

insane how vitriolic gaming side has gotten already...

if you want to know what evilore should have done, he should have stepped aside and let someone else, or a group of individuals, take control of Neogaf. what he should NOT have done is all ban political and "social" discussion and delete the entirety of off topic. i would say his accused actions don't matter as much as the actions he took afterwards.

I mostly lurked here so I doubt anyone noted my presence, but I relied on this thread for so much of my new music recommendations (and some old too).

Feel literally sick about the way this forum’s been wrecked so I’d love the chance to keep engaged with the community.

Yeah I quite enjoy the "Artist" Talk worldwide on Facebook. /r/HHH and KTT are a favourite.
