Assassins Creed Origins |OT| A Far Cry From Historical Fact

Has anyone else beaten...

The two war elephant? Holy crap, that was a tough fight! Them shooting arrows and throwing those grenade was cheap as hell, but once you kill one of the elephant, they stop using them.

"This is no farm, but a major military encampment."

I got it once during a mission and died, now everytime I fast travel or complete a qiest no matter if i'm in the middle of the desert, middle of the sea or a mcdonalds, he says that same phrase..how in the world do I get him to stop and am I the only one getting this glitch?

I'm not getting that bug, but trying reporting the problem on Ubisoft Forums, and maybe someone else will have it here. I just wanted to comment saying that that bug could be quite funny on some occasions lol. Spawning in Alexandria: "This is no farm, but a major military encampment."

Thanks, posted it there. This is really upsetting

I've seen a mod say they are aware of it and looking into it, but they said that about Unity and did nothing.

And with 60 hours, I finally beat the game. Other than the technical issues, its easily my favorite AC game.

I have 122 quests done, I heard there are about 125, the only quest I have in my log is the star gazer one.

What am I missing?

I'd love to give this one a go, but it's $80 in canada and I can't justify that considering it'll be 40 bucks in a month. If anyone's done with a PS4 copy though I'll buy it :).

Anyone having HDMI flashing-screen issues with this game at 4K HDR on Xbox One X? Very odd. Using the included cable connected to LG OLED65C7P. Seems pretty sporadic...

I was having a hard time with the controls until I went looking in the menu for an alternative control scheme. And there it was! Classic Assassin's Creed controls!

Is anyone else using the alternative control scheme?

So I did not know this but Senu can be used (outside of quests where they specifically have you look for sunken this or locked up that) to look for hidden loot in the open world. Is that what increasing his perception does when you unlock sync points it makes his ability to spot treasure wider?

I read an interesting article on Origins and historical facts, mainly about blackwashing history. It's a long read but a good one and it's written by an actual historian.

You wrote that. Next time make sure you choose a Gaf name that doesn't link back to you in such an obvious way. A certain demographic sure does seem to take offense to some black people claiming Egyptian heritage or being able to relate to Bayek.

Take this /pol shit out of the OT or at least make a separate thread, and this time be honest that you wrote it.

Does the combat look as nice as it has in the past games ? By which I mean, do the rpg mechanics make it look ridiculous where you're slashing people with blades repeatedly and they're fine, or shooting an arrow through their face and they're fine. Even though the older games were too easy, the combat did have a good flow with some cool kill animations and appropriately deadly hits with blades etc.

The dark souls comparison is apt to a degree nowhere near as fluid but its all about chipping away health with attacks levels deciding damage effectiveness hit boxes and parryimg attacks..I agree the older games did have a flow but my beef was the lack of actual control. The new method works in my opinion though definitely not made for multiple oppoents beyond 2 but thats what the tools for!

Damn, I really shouldn't have installed 1.04 (PS4 Pro). That draw distance issue is pretty bad. Also seems like some other stuff got lowered because it doesn't have as much of that cool post processing look as before.

Supposedly they're looking into it.

It does run slightly better, but I don't think the sacrifice they made was worth it.

Funny people say this is the best AC since Blackflag and they pretty much hated ACIII, Unity and some liked Syndicate, but ACIII is the AC game it reminds me of.
If I was too guess which team make this I'd would have said the ACIII team. This is a big step up from Blackflag which I thought was an underdeveloped rushed Nextgen launch game that seemed like it was originally DLC for ACIII.

the controversial claim has never been about the ancient egyptians being "black"

its important to note that modern racial categories like "white and black" did not exist in the time of antiquity so the Egyptians, nor Greeks would never refer themselves as those terms

THE controversial claim has always been about the Ancient Egyptians being Sub-Saharian African which is a more modern claim that was really started by people like Marcus Garvey etc.

The main reason people don't like 3 is because its "prologue" is almost a 3rd of the game and because it does a really poor job of showcasing the parts of the game that are actually good, while putting the worst aspects of the game front and center. 4 cut out most of what didn't work in 3, keeps and evolves what did, and does a good job of getting you into the actual game pretty quickly.

I thoroughly disagree with it seeming like a DLC for 3 though.

Finally switched this as well cause the default were terrible. Feels much better now

Only put in a few hours this week, took a bit of a break after going hard on it since release. Level 29, just ventured into Memphis. I love, love, love this game. I'll be playing this for a looooong time.

Although the world was very big..sea wise.
I found the main game to be very short and uneventful and pretty much ended when I thought it was about to start. The game doesn't get going and when Edward fully commits to the Creed and you think the prologue is over and the game is gonna kick into high gear the actual credits roll instead.
It's the only AC game I've ever completed in week too.

I didn't mind the prologue at all, really. I genuinely appreciated the surprise. I can admit it probably went on for too long, but it simply had nothing to do with why I didn't like 3.

I didn't like 3 because:

A) It had a bunch of changes to the control and game play systems, but few of them were actual improvements, and many of them simply made the game less fun. e.g. The previous ACs had a well crafted loop of "sneak around/get spotted/fight some guys/escape/repeat." In AC3 getting spotted in towns triggered way more of a pain in the ass than usual, and that got on my nerves fast. That's just one example.

B) It was the first major example (at least in my limited experience) of Ubi pulling their awful "We're sticking to our annualized release schedule, period. AC3 still has a bunch of bugs? Too bad, we're release it anyway. And we're not even going to bother patching the bugs later! HA HA HA HA NOBODY CAN STOP US!" shtick. Only some of them were game breaking, but they were all blatant and annoying and marred the experience. e.g. There would be "you can interact with this object" mesh markers all over the place, even though there wasn't actually anything there you could interact with. Then later you'd try to interact with something that you should have been able to, but you couldn't until you restarted the game. Personally, I encountered way more impactful bugs in AC3 than I ever did in Unity, which IMO is very underrated.

There was a great game hidden somewhere inside AC3, but it was covered in shit.

What happened to the fancy combat moves like the previous games though ? I've been watching videos about the combat and while it looks like it could be fun in a Dark Souls kind of way I'm afraid I'm not seeing the flow you used to be able to do with all the fancy kills and stylish animations. The older games could look like some kind of smoothness out of a movie at times with the way you danced around enemies and did slick stuff. While this one might have a better challenge finally, it kind of looks like it's predominantly just basic looking hits over and over until guys fall over when their HP runs out. No more chains of "OHHH" moves, mostly just "Yeah okay, slash slash poke strong poke." I did like that visual flair. Is that right, or can people still do that and I've just been watching the wrong videos ?

Here's Ubi's response to the 1.04 patch downgrade from the thread on the official forums:

The 999999 glitch makes micro transactions moot. I've bought almost every weapon, got the Unicorn the mummy outfit and about to start buying xp tablets when I beat the game (so much still left to do!)

No way Ubisoft doesn't patch this I wonder what they're going to do to offset those who benefitted and have obscene amounts of cash!

2 things

1. Fair enough! I was totally wrong to assume just because it was on your site you wrote it. Apologies!

2. I think that person is a pseudonym for someone else.
