What are your political leanings?

Neogaf always appeared to lean liberal before the giant event where many posters left. It seems that the remaining posters are the more conservative members. Am I mistaken? What are your political leanings?

I'm left leaning with I guess right views on migration.

Left
Support free education and health care, transitional meds paid for, pro gay rights marriage/adoption etc

Right
Support legal migration (became more that way as I have had to do it myself) Despite my German background I think Germany's open door position was disastrous.

The UN should be more forceful in enforcing peace.

Is it left or right to think that if you are on welfare for more than two years with no dependent children you should be force to work, road works etc

It honestly depends on the issue for me. On things like healthcare, education, gay rights, workers rights, and foreign policy I lean a bit more to the left. However for things like gun control, immigration, taxes, homeless issues, drug issues, and reproductive issues I tend to lean more to the left. Also there are things I’m undecided on like trans issues, on hand I believe and adult should be free to live their life and make choices to make them happy but I’m also noticing the more accepting of that we seem to become the more children are getting interested in that and the whole multiple genders ideas. I obviously need more information on that issue before I can make any judgments, plus my politics seem to always be evolving as I learn new information.

Before the purge: Bernie Sanders-esque Indepedent with a hint of Bill Maher libertarianism.

After the purge: Radical moderate.

Not much has changed although I've dropped nearly all socialist leanings in favor of a more free-market/pro-capitalist stance. I also no longer support welfare and believe immigrants should integrate in society (but I don't want border walls or any extreme Trump style BS).

I sincerely hope that the people left here on Neogaf are not Trump supporters.

You know, the people who left could have also been secret Trump supporters.

I still have a post from last year, where people said they would rather vote for Trump had Bernie won the primary (I'm serious).

I’m left leaning.

The only thing I believe in that isn’t quite so left leanin is immigrant integration. Learn English, and I’m ok with people being deported but only if they have committed a violent crime or drunk driving. Families who have someone that is sick should be allowed to remain together until the person gets better.

Left. But I know conservative people that are good people, there’s just a few key political things I’m strongly against on the right. But I try not to be a dick about it.

Honestly I do not lean on anything. I have various opinions on various topics which varies depending on the topic. Example:

I am all for equality but I think modern Feminism is an outdated ideology.

I am all for freedom of religion but I also think that we need to do something about the radical Islam and Islamic states like Saudi Arabia or Turkey. Also Religion should not influence the government or its institutions and this goes for everyone who is working there. Be it a cross or a hijab.

I am for pro choice but I also think there should be limitations in terms of how often a single women can do this.

I am all for Free speech and strictly against any form of censorship. And yes even Nazis have the right to protest if they are doing it the legal way. Being in a democracy also means to allow people to speak we do not agree on.

I guess I am liberal?

Oh and regarding Ameica I am for strict gun regulations

Left, but admittedly more focused on racial, international and economic issues than anything else.

And anyone changing their views because of the shift in this site is a straight up coward.

I have a strong aversion to right-wing political views tbh, they all come across as very douchy to me.

Same. They gross me out as well, but it's probably just because of how they talk online.

Very left wing especially on social issues, economically a bit more moderate but still firmly left. Very strong social justice views.

I guess the closest is what the US refers to as Libertarian. I believe the lack of economic freedom is my country's biggest flaw at the moment (Norway), but that's a discussion for another thread.

Registered independent, small l libertarian. Happily voted for Trump because the alternative was terrifying. Hillary is an evil war-mongering globalist who didn't have the interests of middle class America in mind.
Trump has been good so far.

Social Liberal
Moderate Foreign affairs

Basically I believe that health care is a right for civilised people, and should not be a huge expense. I believe women and men have the right ot make any medical treatment/choice they want. I believe sexuality is a private concern and as such the government should have no say in what one does/wants.

I also believe that there should be a UBI for all people due to the extreme automation here and coming to the world within the next 5 to 10 years. Once trucking/cabs are automated that will affect the largest employment sector in the U.S. for instance.

I believe religion is ALSO private and should not be forced on people by government, and once you operate a business in public your religious views CANNOT interfere with your business.

I believe foreign power should be used to stabilize, feed and educate, not try to take over and rule.

Hence why I am so terrifed Trump won. Trump is the worst kind of "conservative". He spouts nonsense about religion constantly to push his ridiculous agenda while at the same time preparing to get us into a NUCLEAR WAR and possibly kill millions while kissing Russia's ass cause he's scared/admires an ex KGB agent. And anyone who voted for him by proxy must agree with his nonsense if nuclear war breaks out, all those deaths and destruction will be on Trump voters head and they deserve the scorn,.

What used to be called a Social Democrat in the UK. I am a member of the Liberal Democrats (Who were formed as a result of a merger of the Social Democratic Party and the Liberal Party in the late 1980s)

I'm a Social Liberal, slightly to the left of centre on economics. I strongly believe Nationalism belongs in the 19th Century - today's problems require a coordinated global approach. Cooperation makes us all stronger. I want to see a world with fewer borders and more bridges. Fuck Brexit.

I am, somehow, left leaning libertarian. (unusual mix, I know, but it does exist)

Naturally, liberals should be my like minded fellas, but with US's atypical understanding of liberalism I had lots of cognitive dissonance moments reading allegedly liberal comments. And I am not alone.

It must be said, however, that with any popular political movement one gets a lot of followers that get attracted to it just because it is mainstream and not because they got there pondering about life, universe and everything.

Left. I live in a Nordic country so the system here would be Socialist by American standards. I understand why taxes need to be paid. My taxes ensure that nobody's breaking into my house or car or robbing people in the streets just for money to feed their families or drug habits.

Well I can probably hit a few points for me.

  • I'm for Banning Guns or at least better Gun control
  • I don't think voting Republican to Toe the line makes you a racist
  • I'm for equal rights for all races or Gender
  • I'm for universal Healthcare
  • I started to hate coming on his forum though because people were quick to label people or start a witch hunt if you didn't agree with their views.
  • I'm Atheist but I would hate to see anyone not be able to believe whatever religion they want.

Left leaning, believe in a fair living wage and free college tuition and taking corporate money out of government. Gun control and health insurance are where they are because republicans and democrats love money more than their parents or children.

I can't tell if this is satire or not, you're either sharply clever or borderline deranged. Trump is unanimously a mistake on a level worse than Brexit only bigots and white nationalist have a reason to still support this dumpster fire.

You see, I use to view things like this but it's too cartoonish to lable every Trump supporter like that.

It's like saying every Hillary voter are ok with murder because she supported going into Iraq.

Dividing a nation on labels only screws over boths sides of both parties. It's better to just disagree with them and move on with your life.

Fuck Hilary, that analogy was terrible though, her voting the way a lot of congress people did back then is moot and doesn't reflect voter values.

Everything about trump is willful and reflects the voters who still support him.

Saying Trump is doing good work deserves any label that comes with that mindset. Fuck a kumbaya, these people hate everything I find good about this country. This is a bloodless civil war and will be for a long time until something gives

They dont have a word for my view. I call it 'Order'.

Closest thing I have is socialism, but modern socialists believe in the division of government. They are also not strong enough to fight their way to the top.
The only people who are strong enough were nazi's. But I would be caught dead before I show any kind of support to those racist, sexist cunts.
I apprieciate the ways the conservative solidify their power. In an ever changing society where social justice becomes ever more prevalent, the fact that they are still relevent is nothing short of strategical genius decades in the making.
I believe all people are equal. Everyone should be treated fairly and with respect. The core essence of the left.

People are stupid, blundering children. They must be guided by a parent. I truly believe true dictatorship is the only correct form of government. A dictator with supreme power, but doesnt use it for personal gain. Uses that power to truly help the people and by extension the world.
I have heard the saying power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I understand it is naive and foolish to believe this, but belief is like that. I believe that power can be wielded without corrupting somebody. I know it can.

The slight problem with dictatorships is they inevitably succumb to corruption and greed in some shape or form. So what I am is something similar, but more than that. Something built for the people by the people to be used with the people.

I lean left, more or less, but there's a lot I don't like about the Democrats, specifically their continued attempts to stamp out the progressive wing of the party in favor of centrists. They're as big a slave to big donors as their Republican counterparts.

I sincerely hope that the people left here on Neogaf are not Trump supporters.

The irony with such a statement is that you now become a voice for discrimination, the same thing the anti-Trump crowd has been fighting against. Don't you see that? I'm always curious to hear about views that oppose mine, including staunch Trump supporters, as there's usually sound reasoning of some sort behind them. Only when we understand those reasons can we attempt to bridge the divide and bridging that divide should be something that absolutely everyone should have as a goal in life.

Ugh, people just need some guidance/ticket and some alternative opportunities. We're all born knowing nothing, and what we do learn varies so vastly. We're not stupid.
