It's been a busy few weeks for Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II. We’re excited to have launched the game to the world, but recognize that there have been some challenges along the way. We have learned a lot, and are making adjustments to the game to ensure the best experience possible. On Tuesday, an update is rolling out that begins the Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II The Last Jedi Season by kicking off factional challenges, letting you choose a side and start competing for rewards as either The First Order or The Resistance.

Today, an update went live that includes some adjustments to the economy and progression. While these are only some initial steps toward making much larger changes, some of these are ready to roll, and are available starting today.

The end-of-round payout has been increased. This is an area we agree needed to be buffed a bit, especially when it comes to rewarding players for doing well in-game. We're upping the number of Credits you get for a match across the board, and specifically bumping the top players on each team by even more.

Earn 3X more Credits daily in Arcade Mode. It's been made clear that you were hitting the Arcade Mode Credit cap faster than we expected, so we wanted to alleviate that by increasing it to 1500 Credits. While we're still looking into ways to add more content into it the mode in the long-term, we think that this should help in the near-term for those who want rewards for completing the different scenarios.

Daily Login Crates will now provide more crafting parts than before. You'll notice the change right away when you log in. Crafting the Star Cards you want will help make sure you're progressing in the direction you want, and we absolutely wantto empower that. This should help you get where you want to go faster when it comes to crafting and upgrading.

Things kick into high gear over the next few weeks, during the Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II The Last Jedi Season, with free* heroes, maps, and vehicles. Stormtrooper-turned-hero Finn joins the fight for the Resistance and Captain Phasma steps on to the battlefront for the First Order. New locations and vehicles will also arrive: you can fight on the ground on the salt-covered planet of Crait in Galactic Assault mode, or take to space in the Starfighter Assault map of D'Qar (flying Tallie Lintra's RZ-2 A-wing, a vehicle you'll be seeing in the film).

And, of course, Iden Versio returns in Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II Resurrection during the days of the First Order’s rise to power. These new chapters of Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II’s single-player story mode will be available December 13.

Thank you again for your passion around this game. Star Wars™ is special to all of us, and we all want to experience that world in fun, exciting ways. If you're already playing the game and are loving it, we want to thank you for taking the time to do so. We have a lot planned, and are excited to show you what’s to come.

*Requires Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II on applicable platform (sold separately), all game updates, internet connection, EA account, and, for console players, Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership (each sold separately).

Keep your eyes on EA Star Wars™ on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for much more of what’s coming to Star WarsBattlefront II or join the discussion on the official forums.

I'm playing NFS right now, and loving it. It's technically got loot boxes, but... it's more just like getting car part upgrades after every race. There is absolutely zero need to buy them - I easily maxed out cars without any issue with in game cash, no grinding. [Honestly, the free lootboxes just feel like bonuses to me - I don't actually need what they give]

It isn't loot boxes themselves that bother me, it's when they're aggressively monetized to impact game balance. It sounds like they are working to fix that here. Good on them.

Adjusting the credit payout and additional points for doing well is a big deal as it promotes actually playing the game to earn credits.

Too little too tale. I know what the original intention is, the game was designed around loot boxes and unbalance. After buying battlefront 1 I was super hyper for bf2, day one for sure, but no. Not buying it ever. Not buying any other EA game without doing a ton of research on it before.

Good to seee they are starting to make major changes...I may revisit this game in the coming weeks to check them out. This caught my attention though...

Pretty cool that they are adding single player content.

The game didn't even have a ending.

.

Are they charging for single player stuff on the disk to be released later?

I cancelled my preorder a few weeks ago. I'll still buy the game, but no way in hell am I paying full price for it now. $30- $40 is probably the sweet spot for it especially with these changes.

all free DLC and that's why they had loot boxes so DLC was free. seems like they are taking the paying for loot boxes away by giving more credits but I wonder where they will get the cash from now? they will change something to make sure they don't miss out

TLDR: credit increases aimed at gaining player goodwill but progression system remains as-is, for upcoming reactivation of loot crate micro transactions.

AFK scenario remains unaddressed.

I bought it day one when they pulled the pay to win bullshit and honestly I've already gotten my money's worth and then some. It's such an amazing game and the only real flaws it has are some graphical glitches, rubber banders, and the terrible progression system. I've been doing a decent job of ignoring it completely and playing "nude" though lol collecting credits for when they refine the loot system to be worth spending the credits on...

Must be hard for you to skip allmost every big title this winter.

Simples. We don't buy them. I have a huge back catalogue of wait for it......AAA games that don't contain loot boxes.

I play those until this garbage sorts itself out.
And if it never does get sorted I quit gaming.

But you're more than welcome to continue embracing those exciting little boxes of digital joy.

I personally avoid all games where they've had a hand in developing. There is something very generic in every one of their games...perhaps this is side effect of releasing on every platform but it's more than that. They lack originality and they all seem to have the same formula.

I managed to play through a handful of levels of Battlefield 1 recently and UGH...Nothing of the story is ever told in-game. Instead we get a lousy cut scene between levels which felt so generic that I could have sworn that I played it before. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it is discovered that EA-Dice took assets and levels from different games and slapped new textures on them.

In the course of writing above, I just found out that Respawn was just bought up by EA...I guess we can look forward to Titanfall 3 with equal generic charm?

You'll be able to buy loot boxes with real money again, so that's where the added revenue will come in.

Increasing the credit payout was the #1 thing for them to do in the current environment, so good on them for that.

They say in the first couple of sentences that this is just the first of many changes. It would have been good if they could lay out the roadmap with the lootbox system. We know it's coming back, but are they going to make it a credit/crafting/cosmetic only system as I think most people would prefer?

I think that's the last big question holding a lot of people back from getting into the game. It's a shame how they've screwed this up; the game itself is actually quite fun - there are quibbles and things to be balanced for sure - but the game is fun.

I think your missing the point; the only reason they are fixing it is because they did exactly what you said bothers you. By supporting the game you are supporting the practice you say bothers you. Don’t support this practice especially in games like this where the intent was there and was only changed due to outcry.

No, by buying loot boxes with real money he would be supporting the practice, which was removed from the game anyway. There's no shame in enjoying the game, it's fun. If Crystals were still enabled and people were buying them, that's a cause for consternation.

I think you're missing the point. They fixed it because we told them it bothers us and we don't want it. NOW is the time to support them, and show them that we will gladly pay good money for games without P2W crap in them. Not buying the game even after they fixed it sends them the message that we were just full of hot air, and they better bring back microtransactions if they want to make any money...

I dont mind loot boxes. I hate the leveling system.
People who havent invested as much time and/or money in the game, shouldnt be weaker than those who have.

yeah but by upping in game credits so much they will not be as attractive to buy I guess. my guess is they will add cosmetics to the game and charge for that to

That's not what I'd call an overhaul. I was expecting/hoping for the gameplay lootbox economy to be done away with entirely, and replaced with cosmetic crates.
Still, it's a step forward that alleviates some issues that people have with the game.

I did want to buy the game after all the controversy because I did enjoy the beta, but could no longer ignore the controversy surrounding the game. I decided to speak with my wallet. The benefit is by the time I do buy it, it should be a better game, cheaper, and the message has still gotten out there that gamer don't want loot boxes forced on us and we don't want loot box purchasers to have an advantage.

I don't see why we should support them regardless if they change it.

The thing blew up so big that there would be no doubt that if underpreforms, microtransactions are the issue.

Second, if you do support them, your putting trust in EA that they wont fuck it up in the future and I think its pretty clear they aren't to be trusted.

Ignore EA,this year is filled with great games that are more deserving of our time and money.

This right here. The game will never be a 100% perfect, no matter what EA does. Even it does fix everything, some people will still have a bad taste left over. However, knowing that I will actually get rewarded for doing good in a match might be enough for me to jump back in. I know there will still be those that have already paid to level up or progress further before the MTX were removed, nothing can be done about that. However, they can only progress so far before hitting a wall. Unless EA lets them pay to go behind the level caps. Ugh, let's hope not.

Not hard for me! Next game on my radar is Valkyria Chronicles 5.

I'm not even joking... that's how it works...

For me it's not about supporting EA, I don't care about EA. They've been assholes since the 90s...

For me it's about playing this awesome Star Wars game. And I'm very glad I am...

lol, I guessing by "big titles"you mean games like AC, COD and this game. I will be gladly skip their games and instead I will pick up much better games like Xenoblades Chronicles 2 and upcoming games like Ni no Kuni 2 and Valkyria Chronicles 4.

At least they should add some matchmaking where you can play against others at your level or for example with no star cards

Yeah I doubt that would happen. Also the only people that used mtx to level up would be on Xbox. But I play on X so....

Still waiting for a deep sale. Seems like they're unwilling or simply can't fix the progression system. Should've just sold map packs for the game.

Pretty much this. Plenty of amazing games in my backlog without these bullshit tactics, I will probably exhaust them sometime in 2019 if nothing else I want is released from now until then.
