Because of XBL, friends, ecosystem, gamerscore being better than what Sony copied with trophies, controller/elite controller. After the incident many junior members were approved (including me), and apparently that added alot more Xbox players, which evened out the ratio between Xbox and PS4 players, which resulted more positive posts about Xbox instead of the typical shitposting, which frustrates old SonyGAF.

(I ain't saying all PS4 playersare bad, because they obviously aren't, but when there's a ratio difference on three to one in favor of PS4, theres a thumb of rule that says that theres equally as many more fanboys, which have been very noticable in here.)

I bought the Xbox One, the S and the X. I honestly use them more than I use my PlayStation 4 or Switch. The One X now has the best multi platforms I enjoy the exclusives and it is the most powerful piece of hardware. Not to mention I am a sucker for gamerscore, me and my friends routinely see who can get the most each month which btw I have won the last 3 months.

X1 was heavily discounted here in Australia. I wanted Master Chief Collection and to try Forza 5 at the time. Aside from checking out backwards compatible releases, it collects dust. Should trade it on an X, tho not feeling sufficiently motivated.

Better blu ray support, can use a remote for netflix, can plug sky in to save a hdmi slot. That was enough to sell me on it. I've always loved gears and halo so it's been amazing to play them again. Being able to use a decent controller again is such a bonus too, I don't feel like Sony will ever make a good controller at this point.

I feel like while Sony has more exclusives everything else is pretty awful, even simple things like making a party is slow and clunky. I couldn't go without the game selection on offer for PlayStation though and I feel like every multiplatform game is better on PS4 this gen.

For me waiting for xbox's to be cheap was the right choice, there's still no games worth making it a primary console this gen (unless you like forza).

Switch is my favourite console this gen already though and I'm just excited to see what 90+ game they bring out next.

I'll ignore the 13 year old forum posters above me who are still in their "I just got my first gaming PC and I need to tell everyone how great PC gaming is" phase.

I picked up my Xbone specifically for the remaster of Halo 2 in the Master Chief Collection. I'd just finished another playthrough of the original Halo on my gaming rig (with mods & downsampled from some insanely high res) and I was still on a bit of a Halo kick. At the time there was a great deal on the Xbox One with a copy of Halo MCC included, so I jumped onboard. Honestly, I haven't looked back. The backwards compatibility program, full mod support, Halo and free media apps like VLC ensure that it's quite rare for a day to go by without it getting turned on. Objectively speaking: it's a great system now.

I have a reasonably specced gaming rig but I because I prefer to collect physical games, console gaming has taken the forefront of my gaming interests of late. I'm loving this gen and I'm really glad that we got two premium versions of the two major home gaming consoles.

I bought one for Rise of the Tomb Raider when it was still being called exclusive. Never had an Xbox before and I absolutely love it. Still have a PS4/Switch/Wii U, and the One made me go back and dip into the other Xbox games. Also bought a 360 and an OG since then.

But I enjoy it and use it all the time. I switch back and forth between consoles from time to time, but I like the infrastructure on One and i like online gaming better on it as well as game pages and parties. I think it's all mapped out better than Sony and Nintendo for social stuff.

Microsoft's exclusives being on PC mean absolutely nothing to me since I don't have any interest in playing games on PC so in this regard, I still see their console exclusives as full exclusives just like I would Nioh or Nier: Automata on PS4.

As for why I first purchased an Xbox One which was two years ago was for Rise of the Tomb Raider because I didn't want to wait a year to play it on PS4. I mainly keep my Xbox One Slim for the exclusives. Nothing for 2017 but State of Decay 2, Ori 2 and Forza Horizon 4 in 2018 convinced me to keep it.

Mine ended up doing that over a year of use. I contacted MS support through online chat, sent them my controller, received a brand new Elite in less than a week. A pain, yeah, but the support is there and they do a good job from my experiences.

I got a day one edition because I thought I might like the exclusives but alas I didn't care for most of them. I never had a 360 but loved the OG. I sold mine when Scalebound was canned.
I bought the One S last Christmas for 4k bluray and sold it a month ago for $200. I have come to terms that I just don't like Xbox exclusives. I already have a ps4 and a 1070 and honestly don't care enough about graphics to get an X.

Also, Titanfall was coming out, which was made by the same people that did one of my favorite games of all time Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Plus, I was expecting all my favorite Xbox games, such as Gears, Halo, and perhaps a Rareware game.

I've always been geared more towards north american type games over japanese (nothing against japanese games) so basically I prefer xbox exclusives, MS has always been ahead of the game in terms of online.

and as far as PC goes... I myself prefer consoles simplicity of plug a box in and play from my sofa (also the cost). the whole "omg but the exclusive game is now on PC" doesn't bother me and not really sure why it would bother anyone else if others get to enjoy any certain game.
