Definitely. Having a differing opinion is fine, in fact it would be boring if we didn't have them! The problem is when people behave in such a consistently toxic way across multiple threads that it crushes any hope of having decent discussion.

Anyway the issue has been dealt with so hopefully things settle down a bit.

FPS > resolution. Pro wins again.

Not exactly. 1728 vs 1080p is a HUGE difference especially on large 4K TVs

Plus it said the Pro had FPS issues initially

Face it—for multiplatform games the X kills it, which is why I will be picking one up next year.

I remember from the analysis (DF) of the tech inside Xbox One X it was revealed that there is much more going on in the CPU (One vs X.) So PS4 Pro CPU vs Xbox One X CPU is not as transparent as one would think. One interesting point is the command processor was moved to the GPU logic. The X's CPU draw calls were significantly reduced or in more general terms, doesn't have to do as much work as the One's CPU. This could be a factor in a comparison to the PS4 Pro's CPU though we can't discount any potential changes Sony may have made to the original SoC inside the PS4 to improve performance on the PS4 Pro.
Honestly, we don't know what changes if any Sony made to the pro cpu. What we've seen in cpu limited situations on digital foundry is that the frame rate is identical and the minor differences can be attributed to a 200mhz increase in speed. Resolution is almost always GPU related and in this case, I'm not really seeing what would cause such a large disparity.

Depends on the TV and viewing distance. 55" at ~6', very noticeable. 55 at ~10', not so much. Viewing material makes a pretty big difference too though.

Yet another game where developers favor a higher resolution on XBONEX and framerate suffers...Everything Bierton points out in that video as graphcial upgrades are on account of the higher resolution minus better shadows. AF, effects, reflections all look the same.

It's a cartoon style game though, we're not talking tasking foliage, realistic looking explosions, the best textures, pom or any such thing. It's a shame this is not running at 60fps with the best graphics in the first place. This game is constantly in the mid 20's on XBONEX, with lows to 22fps is really something. 1728p does not make the fps ok.

It's crazy, but when PRO had a title or two with some framerate issues at launch, nothing as we're seeing here on XBONEX mind you, there was a huge "calling out"...In this video and others, I'm mostly hearing Bierton say how impressive XBONEX graphics and resolution is despite the framerate...Yet, he has to 400% zoom to show " this substantial visual upgrade"...as he puts it...

As they stated the Pro had problems with this game at first to, its still in beta yet so expect it to get better. 1080p for the pro aint good enough either I want to point out, game needs to be pushed harder on pro

Took a while for you to show up. Is it getting harder to come up with this stuff?

New patch notes for Fortnite:

Improved Xbox One rendering by reducing CPU stalls.

I guess that’s that then.

Keep fighting the good(?) fight.

That's the weird thing.

A few patches ago it ran at 60fps on ps4 pro with a few drops. i much preffered that.

why it cant do 30 now i dont understand.

I was curious about that.

On base PS4, you can toggle v sync off and unlock the frame rate. It seemed to run at around 40-45 FPS but was also inconsistent with drops and the like.
Yet I couldn’t find any videos testing and comparing the game between base hardware and Pro/X with the frame lock and vsync off.

You can uncap the frame rate in the options menu. I prefer to go lay it that way myself even though the game can dip down when a lot is going on.

He is right though funny how they've gone back to the 400% zoom to show that the x is better they never did this on ps4one companions

thats because both systems were pretty much running the same version of the game but at different resolutions but not with the pro and the X they are adding things that are different in each console version thats all

I remember watching DF videos with no commentary with just side by side comparisons a while back. I think as they have gotten more popular they have been able to put more time and effort into their vids. You can clearly see a difference between 1440p to dynamic 4k/4k just like you could 900p to 1080p. Everything is just more crisp and now with better textures and features in some "enhanced" versions.

I just want to point out to people that there are several moderators using and monitoring the forums at the moment, you will meet the team shortly.

I'm sure that most people on here want the same things in terms of being a part of this community, even when their opinions differ to others in the thread. I do believe that people also know when they've posted something that the shouldn't have.

Nobody wants to stop people contributing but can we all please try and work together for the sake of all of this community.

Also, can I please ask people not to respond when people do post things that they shouldn't. I know it's very tempting to post a "smart response" sometimes but they do also detract from the well running of threads so it is far better if people ignore it publicly and just report them to staff.

I know that it probably looks like I'm only moderator on here at the moment but I assure you that I definitely am not and over the next few days you will start to meet all of us. Feel free to get in touch and there will be a proper "who to contact" with issues going up as soon as it can do.

Thanks.

Thank you for introducing yourself, and I hope to meet the other mods soon.
